Earlier today I made the terrible mistake of actually saying something positive about our current President Joseph Biden. I of course was lambasted by a Trumper, LOL.

So I am creating this useless thread to explain something very simple, its not all black and white folks.

I am a registered independent. The last time I had difficulty choosing between the two parties for President was McCain vs Obama.. both of them are fine men, John McCain one of the most honorable men to serve in the last 50 years. Doesn't matter who I voted for. Since then I have pretty much stuck with the liberterians. Their candidate this time, Joe Jorgenson, was smarter than Biden and Trump combined. Not that I agree with the Liberterian extreme, but they are a far cry better than the shit heads in both major parties.

So who am I?

I am a Constitutional Conservative and a fan of George Washington. You can sum up President Washington in two ways, when asked to be King he said NO, and then read his Farewell Address. So what does this mean?

1) Political Parties. When the founders of this nation drafted our Constitution it was with an in depth knowledge of history and the great political theories emerging in Europe. Many of these men were members of groups like The Freemason, Rosicurans, Royal Society. The "secret knowledge" of these organizations wasn't some Holy Grail Knight Templar nonsense, it was the ability to freely discuss without fear of reprisal anything and everything. Even King George was a member of The Royal Society. With this "secret" knowledge out founders had a view of the past and theories on how to build for the future.
From the past one thing was obvious, over time, whether 100s of years of the Roman Empire or the 50 years of the Florentine Republic, the accumulation of wealth and power into the hands of the few eventually and ALWAYS led to the collapse of the great society. For the future they designed a new system. A system which would "renew" the power base regularly. Elected officials, whether they serve one term or a lifetime ALWAYS return their accumulated power to the voters who select them. That was the fix.
And it failed immediately. By choosing to allow political parties, our new government created and institution which stood between the power and the people. When an elected official leaves office, his power doesn't return to the voters of his district, it returns to the party who chooses who we get to vote for. Parties groom members to become candidates, help them move into districts and establish platforms upon which they run. The parties also established the rules by which Congress functions. Things like minority and majority whip, Majority leader, minority leader, seating arrangements, committee memberships, and most crucially, SENIORITY. There is no reason in the Constitution for any member of Congress to have any higher rank than another simply by being there longer. All this shit was created by the parties to increase their power. George Washington fought against parties for this very reason, and lost.

2) Individual freedom. I tell people I am a Constitutional Conservative, which makes me an extreme liberal by todays standards. How? Guess what, there were men who signed the documents which founded our nation who smoked opium, drank Laudlum, gambled, drank and slept with prostitutes. They would be outraged at the role government has played by turning "sins" into CRIMES. Prohibition led to a massive increase in the power of organized crime. Hoover era drug laws led to drug cartels and huge increases in gangs. Laws against prostitution forced it into back alleys and deserted streets where the ladies are victimized and crime thrives. Laws against gambling simply led to more crime. Our government is out of control, criminalizing human behaviors that refuse to be prevented. Educating people is a far more effective way to battle excesses than criminalizing it. And rehab far more effective than incarceration. The US incarcerates a higher percentage of its population than any other developed nation.

3) Avoid foreign entanglements. WE as a nation are probably the MOST HATED by the most people in this world. Why? Because we preach democracy, freedom and human rights. But our policy decision since our very first years have been about power, wealth and resources. We repeatedly broke treaties with Native Americans, we bullied our neighbors, and in the last 100 years we have used our military might to bring our influence to as much of the world as possible, not for the sake of our ideals, but for the sake of wealth and power. We support despots because of the resources they control or simply where they are on the map. We made one of the gravest errors in foreign policy and one of the greatest injustices of the modern era when we denied the Palestinians a voice at the UN as a people without a state. That was 70 years ago and the hatred RIGHTLY directed towards us continues to cost us and many many others dearly.

4) Deficit spending President Washington warned us, and we now have a national debt that is unserviceable. The ONLY time we should spend beyond our means is in a time of national crises. So why do we continue on this slope? Simple. Just as ALL great societies before, wealth and power have concentrated into the hands of the few and they no longer have to act in the best interests of the whole to stay in power. They are untouchable. President Regan cut taxes on the wealthiest from 70% to 35% as a temporary measure to fight recession due to the oil embargo. This turned into Reaganomics, Trickle Down, or Supply side economics. Any college freshman with an Economics class can tell you this is bullshit. The economy is driven by consumer demand, Consumer demand is highest when the most wealth is spread across the most people. Its VERY simple, who creates more demand, a single executive and family making $400 Million? 400 families making $1 Million? 4000 families making $100,000? 8000 families making $50,000 or 16,000 individuals making $25,000?
WE are currently at a tipping point economically that may be our path to eventual downfall. When the richest have incomes increasing at a higher pace than everyone else is LOSING, economic indicators continue to rise even as the economy rots from the inside. If 95% of people lose 1% in wealth, but the other 5% gain 20%, then gains vs losses are 100 vs 95 and the economy appears to be healthy and growing. This is exactly what is happening today. Causes are many but a few stand out. Unjust tax system where the poor actually pay more than the rich when you consider regressive taxes like sales taxes and the favoritism shown to the rich in areas like capital gains and inheritance. Globalization.. When President Clinton signed on to NAFTA the understanding was that American manufacturing jobs would be replaced by service industry jobs. Did not happen. With technological advancements in communication many of those service jobs went offshore as well, what was envisioned as a call center HERE is now in Mumbai. And many other service jobs simply don't pay as well as a union factory job.

There is more, but I am saving that for my book. The point to all this, leave me out of your stupid and lame Trumper bullshit. The man is a brilliant game player and manipulator. His election staff the best at demographic mapping in history, But he was maybe the worst President in modern times. He said MANY right things, then only acted half assed. He separated thousands of children from parents at the border, and I don't care WHAT you think justifies it, NOTHING DOES. He rattled his sabre at North Korea for 18 months, then went and shook hands with one of the most despicable leaders in the world today just for a sound bite. His Covid policies were non existent and he even did NOTHING while his chief advisors urged action ( like using defense industries to make PPE ) He incited his followers to civil disobedience over lies about election fraud while sending troops to quell demonstrations by 1000s over continuing racial violence by law enforcement. More could be said, but I am not writing that book. President Biden has a long way to go to prove himself. But at least he is consistent and mature and not a raving idiot like the former President.

Now lets see how much hate I get for that last paragraph instead of intelligent debate over everything said before it.

Love all the hate mail and Yes of course this was my opinion... the reason I shared it is because too many people see the nation as Republican vs Democrat or conservative vs liberal... there are a few % of us that reject both. Really love the guy that called me a leftist. And never sought to be impartial, nobody ever really is, impartiality is an illusion. We all are a product of nature AND nurture and see the world from a perspective that reflects that. And of course very pleased to see no one so far even trying to refute any of what I said except my deliberate anti Trump bias. Of course I am biased. I am biased against Hitler and Stalin and Bozo the Clown as well.

 

TLDR - I don't give a fuck about your long manifesto, and I don't care whose side you're on. The 1st rule of effective written communication (a field I have worked in for many years), is: make your statement readily accessible. If your thesis is complex, you must first engage your presumed readership.

The first FIVE paragraphs in your 'manifesto' were about YOU. See, here's the problem: nobody knows you and therefore many people will not bother to read what you have to say. I didn't.

You have no clue as to how to engage people in your theories - who know? maybe they're sound, maybe they're not.

Me. I don't pay much attention to people with no clue as to how to make their point enticing enough to pay attention to. The mere fact of your communicative ineffectiveness makes me doubt that anything to follow that clumsy, egocentric intro will be worth my time to read.
