Shooting leaves 3 people wounded at Idaho middle school



Idaho police have captured the suspect in a middle school shooting that left 3 people wounded on Thursday, according to a report by The Associated Press.

Jefferson County police said that two students along with the school’s custodian were shot at Rigby Middle School.

Students were evacuated to a high school nearby as multiple law enforcement agencies headed to the scene.

“Today we had the worst nightmare a school district could encounter. We had a school shooting here at Rigby Middle School,” Jefferson School District Superintendent Chad Martin said, according to the AP story. “What we know so far is the shooter has been apprehended. There is no further threat to the students.”

Jefferson County Sheriff Steve Anderson said the three victims didn’t suffer any life-threatening injuries, according to the AP report.

The suspect, who is a male student, was taken into custody by police.

Kids quickly wear down armed school bus hijacker by ‘asking lots of questions’

A U.S. Army trainee hijacked a bus full of elementary school students Thursday in South Carolina -- but let them go after they pestered him with questions.

The trainee left Fort Jackson with a rifle around 7 a.m. and tried to hitch a ride on Interstate 77 before spotting the school bus stop, where he boarded the bus and ordered the driver to take him to the next town, reported NBC News.

"[He] told the bus driver that he didn't want to hurt him, but he wanted him to drive him to the next town," said Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott.

The trainee, who was in his third week at the base, brought all 18 children to the front of the bus, where they "frustrated" him by "asking lots of questions to the suspect, if he was going to hurt them or the bus driver," the sheriff said.

He then let the children and driver off the bus and drove himself a short distance before abandoning it with the rifle still on board.

The trainee was captured a short time later, and none of the children or the driver were harmed.

"I'll give the bus driver credit," Lott said. "He kept his cool. He didn't overreact, he didn't get excited. He kept his cool enough that kept the situation calm, and I will tell you his main concern was the safety of those kids."

Authorities are responding to a mass shooting in Florida.

"Three people have been transported to area hospitals following a shooting at Aventura Mall on Saturday afternoon, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. The shooting took place at around 4 p.m. at the mall located in the 19500 block of Biscayne Blvd," CBS Miami reported.

The U.S. was hit by shootings in New York City's Times Square, a shopping mall in Florida and at a townhome near Baltimore that left four people dead, including the suspected gunman.

The big picture: Since President Biden took office in January, over 700 people have been injured or killed in 139 mass shootings as of late last month.

• Biden has called gun violence in the U.S. an "epidemic" and "international embarrassment."

What's happening: In the shooting in Woodlawn, Baltimore County, Maryland, police said in a statement that officers were called to a shooting and fire in which two men and a woman died.

• Baltimore County Police spokesperson Joy Stewart confirmed the suspect had been killed by police and the threat to the community "was neutralized," per the Baltimore Sun.

In Times Square, a fight among a group of men resulted in two women and a 4-year-old girl being wounded after "at least" one of the men drew a gun, the New York Times reports.

• New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio tweeted, "Thankfully these innocent bystanders are in stable condition.

"The perpetrators of this senseless violence are being tracked down and the NYPD will bring them to justice. The flood of illegal guns into our city must stop."

In Florida, several people were shot and "at least three" were being treated in hospitals with non-life threatening injuries after being wounded in a shooting at the Aventura Mall near Miami, according to Wesh 2.

4 dead in shooting, explosion near Baltimore

Four people are dead and one person was injured after a shooting and explosion occurred in a townhouse located in one of Baltimore's suburbs on Saturday.

The Baltimore Sun reported that police did not give a motive for the shooting or a cause for the explosion during a press conference at the scene on Saturday, while explaining that the situation was contained.

One of the people who died was the man allegedly responsible for the shooting, 56-year-old Everton Brown, who was confronted and shot by officers outside the burning buildings, according to police. Officials said the incident was captured on bodycam footage.

“That threat was neutralized,” Baltimore County police spokeswoman Joy Stewart said at a news conference, according to the Sun. “At that point, firefighters were able to address the fire.”

One man was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to the Sun, while two other victims died at the scene.

The incident occurred in the township of Woodlawn, located a few miles west of downtown Baltimore.

Photos of the incident showed one building with nearly its entire side gone as a result of the explosion, while firefighters battled the remnants of the blaze.

7 people dead in Colorado birthday party shooting

Six adults were killed early Sunday morning when a suspect opened fire at a birthday party in Colorado Springs, Colorado, police said.

The suspect, who was allegedly the boyfriend of one of the victims, took his own life, according to police.

Officers responded to a 911 call at the Canterbury Mobile Home Park around 12:18 a.m. and discovered the victims and suspect with gunshot wounds. Six of the people were pronounced dead on the scene and a seventh was found with serious injuries and was taken to the hospital but succumbed to their injuries, police said. It's unclear if the suspect was the one taken to the hospital

Police said the unidentified suspect drove to the mobile home park while a birthday celebration was going on for one of the victims. Investigators said friends, family and children were all gathered when the suspect came in and allegedly opened fire.

"The children at the trailer were uninjured by the suspect and are now with relatives," the Colorado Springs Police Department said in a statement.

The investigation is ongoing and police didn't immediately determine the shooter's motives.

My vow to this community and to the families who have lost someone today, is that this department will do everything we can to find you the answers you deserve and be here for you with an unwavering support," Colorado Springs Police Chief Vince Niski said in a statement.

Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers called for patience as investigators searched for clues behind the killings.

Today we find ourselves mourning the loss of lives and praying solemnly for those who were injured and those who lost family members in a senseless act of violence on Sunday morning," he said in a statement.

Gov. Jared Polis also offered his condolences and prayers to the victims and their families.

"The tragic shooting in Colorado Springs is devastating, especially as many of us are spending the day celebrating the women in our lives who have made us the people we are today," he said in a statement.

Crime Boss Biden is forging ahead to set new records....bet he's proud of that.

There were 41 mass shootings during the eight year Obama administration.

 

It would take me more time and energy than I am willing to expend to post all the mass shootings just going on right now let alone the past few days.

But its not just mass shootings. Its shootings everywhere. A 10 year old girl in New York had to pull her toddler brother to the ground and cover him with her body to shield him from gun fire inches from them. And out in Bend Oregon there are looking for someone who sppears to be just wondering around shooting people.


There are so many of them right now on small scales it just makes me wonder about what the mental health experts warned about fairly early on. Once Americans have faced a pandemic and death, and a year locked down we do not know what psychological changes that will have when we begin to come out again. All we do know is none of us will ever be the same.

And right now at least its like ok we are finally free. That must mean its open season.

 

We've heard it now...folks are killing more folks because they aint lock-downed any longer, not due to defunding efforts, not due to poor management, not due to refusing to prosecute, not due to many of the anti-crime laws that are already on the books not being enforced...but folks are free now, and free to do what they do...kill others.

Atlanta mayor blames lifting lockdown for rise in murders

The Mayor of Atlanta has blamed the recent rise of murder in her city as the result of opening earlier than other cities. Democrat Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said on Friday, people traveling to the city because of the premature lockdown lift has been the biggest cause of the spike.

Nightclubs and other businesses stayed open in Atlanta after Georgia reopened its economy in May 2020, while other states remained in lockdown. Acknowledging other Democrat-run cities have seen a rise in crime too, Bottoms also blamed easy access to firearms.

“Until we deal with the systemic issues of gun violence in this country, how easily young people, people with mental illnesses can access guns in this country,” she explained. “I’m afraid that this will not be the last Summer we are having this conversation.”


Since the defund the police movement took major cities by storm last summer, murder is up almost 60 percent in Atlanta. It’s up by double digit amounts in other Democrat-led cities such as New York City and Chicago.

 

Atlanta community looks to separate from the capital amid skyrocketing crime rates

Community leaders of a community in Atlanta, Georgia have pushed to remove itself from the Peach State’s capital amid skyrocketing crime rates. On Friday, Bill White, CEO of the Buckhead City Committee, stated the community submitted two bills to the Georgia legislature in effort to separate from Atlanta and become its own city.

The original bill was introduced by Rep. Todd Jones (R-Ga.) in April. Lawmakers hope residents will vote on the referendum ballot in January 2022. The decision came after police statistics reported an increase in murders by 63 percent since May 2020 in the Democrat-run city under Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, while police continued to lose funding.

One May weekend left 19 people shot and six people dead in Atlanta neighborhoods, which fueled the Buckhead City Committee to push even harder for a separation. White stated Buckhead City would also have its own judge, court and jail to crack down on crime.

He went on to argue, “we are at war here in Atlanta and it’s obvious to the average citizen that this is a huge crisis that we have to get control of right away.”

Although, the committee for United Atlanta has maintained opposition against Buckhead becoming a city by stressing the divorce proceeding is a lengthy process. Head of United Atlanta, Attorney Linda Klein, said legal battles could ensue and potentially halt the process for years.

“The new city would need to have its own set of bureaucrats, elected officials, and others,” she explained. “…It’s very complicated.”

However, Buckhead city committee cited similar formations of cities such as Brook Haven and Sandy Springs as proof it can be done. White outlined the points on the committee’s website in terms of taxes, leadership and infrastructure.

In addition, White is confident around 80 percent of community members will vote in favor of the separation.
