Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) came out swinging against YouTube after the site removed a video of his, claiming it was COVID-19 misinformation.

At a press conference on Monday, DeSantis went after the Big Tech sites, saying YouTube and Google are not hubs for truth, but are enforcers of narrative. He went on to criticize the companies as “a council of censors in service of the ruling elite.”

Last week, YouTube deleted a roundtable discussion from last month which was posted to a Tampa-area news station’s page.

During the talks, Ivy League medical scholars, former White House advisers and other professionals discussed the effectiveness of masks and lockdown measures.

“So when they took down the videos that were posted by some of the local news outlets here in the state of Florida, they were really continuing what they’ve been doing for the past year. Stifle debate, short-circuit scientific inquiry, make sure that the narrative is not questioned,” DeSantis stated. “And I think that we’ve seen already that that has had catastrophic consequences for our society.”

YouTube claimed they removed the video because “it contradicts the consensus of local and global health authorities.”

 

Just to be clear I don't have Trump and treasonous conservative/Republicans in my head. They are in the news. Either by making it themselves or new developments as the story and the trail to treason reveals itself. Big Tech as they call it didn't just help get Trump elected. Allowing the lies the hate and conspiracies, the misinformation and false propaganda, especially Russian propaganda led the United States of America to the brink of dictatorship. So now they are exercising some responsibility to stop it. Not because they are patriotic. But because dictators are really bad for their business model.

JUST IN: James O’Keefe Banned By Twitter

James O’Keefe, founder of Project Veritas, was permanently suspended from Twitter on Thursday.

When reached for comment, a Twitter spokesperson said the account “was permanently suspended for violating the Twitter Rules on platform manipulation and spam. ”

They added:

As outlined in our policy on platform manipulation and spam, “You can’t mislead others on Twitter by operating fake accounts,” and “you can’t artificially amplify or disrupt conversations through the use of multiple accounts.”

The ban comes after Project Veritas released surreptitiously recorded videos of a CNN technical director criticizing the network while on what he thought were dates with a woman posing as a nurse.

O’Keefe told Mediaite he plans on suing the platform: “I am suing Twitter for defamation because they said I, James O’Keefe, ‘operated fake accounts.’ This is false, this is defamatory, and they will pay. Section 230 may have protected them before, but it will not protect them from me. The complaint will be filed Monday.”

Critics accused Twitter Thursday of banning Project Veritas founder James O'Keefe from its platform over the right-wing guerrilla news outlet's damning exposé of CNN.

Project Veritas relaunched its #ExposeCNN campaign this week by sharing footage of CNN technical director Charles Chester revealing the liberal network's dirty laundry. In the footage, Chester claimed that CNN's "focus" during the 2020 election campaign was to "get rid of" President Trump, that the network hyped its coronavirus coverage for "gangbuster" ratings, and that it aims to "help" Black Lives Matter.

On Thursday, O'Keefe's Twitter account, which was sharing Project Veritas' reporting, was permanently suspended over alleged use of "fake accounts."

"As outlined in our policy on platform manipulation and spam, 'You can’t mislead others on Twitter by operating fake accounts,' and 'you can’t artificially amplify or disrupt conversations through the use of multiple accounts,'" a Twitter spokesperson told Fox News.

O'Keefe categorically denied Twitter's assertions, telling Fox News that he vows to sue the tech giant for defamation.

Twitter declined to comment when asked what fake accounts O'Keefe allegedly used. The company also did not respond to requests for comment on O'Keefe's pending lawsuit.

Critics, however, were not buying Twitter's "fake accounts" accusation.

'A huge letdown': Mike Lindell's social media site launches -- and his fans are not happy

After telling people that his new social media platform would be launching this Friday, MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell left a few people scratching their heads when the platform failed to appear online, Newsweek reports.

"I expected a VIP launch midnight Thursday but nothing. What's up?" one Telegram user wrote.

"It seems the site did not go live the way it was supposed to. Not sure what the issue is but it is a huge letdown that's for sure. After all the hype," another person person wrote.

"No communication, no text....no one knows what is going on. Doesn't feel good," wrote another.

Newsweek reached out to Lindell, but hasn't heard back. The reason for the platform failing to launch is unclear.

Earlier this week, Lindell appeared on Eric Metaxas' radio program and touted the platform, which he claimed will be a bastion of free speech — except for a few examples of speech that won't be allowed. Lindell said that his "Frank Speech" platform will not allow users to swear or use the Lord's name in vain because it will be "a Judeo-Christian platform" founded on biblical principles.

"You're not going to be able to swear," Lindell said. "There will be four words for sure you can't say: You can't say the C-word, the N-word, the F-word, and you can't use God's name in vain. What a concept. Right?"

Facebook oversight board extends timeline to decide on Trump ban

(Reuters) – Facebook Inc’s independent oversight board said on Friday it had extended the timeline for deciding whether to uphold former U.S. President Donald Trump’s indefinite suspension from Facebook and Instagram.

The board, created by Facebook in response to criticism over its handling of problematic content, wrote in a tweet that it would announce the decision in the coming weeks.

Facebook indefinitely blocked Trump’s access to his Facebook and Instagram accounts over concerns of further violent unrest following the Jan. 6 storming of the U.S. Capitol by his supporters. It later handed the case to the board.

The board, which would usually have 90 days to make a decision, had been expected to announce its ruling in the coming days.

But the board said its extension of the case’s public comment period meant it needed more time to review the input. The board has said it had received more than 9,000 comments on the Trump case, more than for any other case.

Rep. Gohmert: Twitter ‘part of high-tech oligarchy’

Texas Representative Louie Gohmert (R) said Twitter has been part of what he calls the “high-tech oligarchy.” Gohmert spoke on the House floor Friday and slammed the social media giant over its alleged habit of targeting conservatives on the platform.

He specifically noted the recent suspension of Project Veritas Founder James O’Keefe’s account. Gohmert reiterated that Twitter claimed to have taken action against O’Keefe’s account after he allegedly violated its rules on platform manipulation and spam.

The Texas lawmaker suggested it was an effort to silence opposing viewpoints.

“If you expose the truth about somebody or some entity that Twitter is figuratively in bed with,” Gohmert said. “Then Twitter will ban you because they don’t want the truth out there.”

Congressman Gohmert added, Twitter does not want the truth, which is that Americans have been manipulated by Big Tech corporations and media entities like CNN.
