Jake Tapper Absolutely Incinerates Republicans Peddling Big Lie, Threatens to Bar Them From His Shows: ‘Why Should I Put Any of Them on TV?’

Jake Tapper is questioning the wisdom of inviting Republicans on his show who are pushing what has been dubbed the Big Lie by many in media — that the 2020 election was stolen from former President Donald Trump.

Appearing on CNN’s New Day Tuesday, the anchor of the network’s afternoon program, The Lead, shredded Republican leadership for peddling the ex-president’s fictitious narrative. Citing House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) by name, Tapper argued that GOP leadership promoting the Big Lie shows their willingness to spread other falsehoods.

“[W]hen it comes to lies like this — and the House Republican caucus, and the leaders like Mccarthy and Stev4e Scalise — they’re like Doritos,” Taper said. “You can’t just do one. You keep lying, and lying, and lying. We saw last week, McCarthy spreading the lie about Joe Biden wanting to steal your hamburgers for climate change. We’ve seen the appeasement of lies when it comes to Covid and the fact that about half of Republican voters say that they’re not willing to get vaccinated because of all the lies and fear that has been injected into the Republican bloodstream about health issues.

“We see the appeasement of the conspiracy theorists that support the deranged theory of QAnon — that there are satanic, cannibalistic pedophiles who run Hollywood and the Democratic party. It just keeps going. That’s the point.”

Tapper believes that the Republicans pushing the lie about the election have shown there is no line they won’t cross, and no falsehood they won’t spread.

“The lie about the election on its own is anti-democracy, and it is sowing seeds of ignorance in the populous, and obviously has the potential to incite violence,” Tapper said. “But beyond that is, if you’re willing to lie about that, what are you not willing to lie about? And that’s where we are when it comes to the House Republican leadership, McCarthy and Scalise, and where we are with too many leaders of the Republican party. They’re not willing to tell their voters the truth. What does that say about them?”

New Day anchor John Berman pointed out that Tapper is not raising objections to classic GOP policy positions such as small government and lower taxes. Tapper went on to advocate for a GOP rooted in reality.

“I happen to believe that this country needs a strong, thriving, healthy, fact-based Republican party,” Tapper said.

The CNN anchor further argued that policy discussions are necessary, but he might not be willing to host them — given his belief that Republicans who have promoted election lies have shattered their credibility.

“We need those debates happening,” Tapper said. “But we can’t have those debates if one side of the argument is not willing to stick to standards and facts — for a whole host of reasons. One of them is, how am I supposed to believe anything they say? If they’re willing to lie about Joe Biden wanting to steal your hamburgers, and QAnon and the Big Lie about the election, what are they not willing to lie about? Why should I put any of them on TV?”

    The despicable code;
Above all, censor any who utter what is not part of the party agenda.
Deny them a platform to speak from.
    Demonize them at every turn.
Silence them, destroy them, leave them destroyed.

It used to be in this country that even the wildest conspiracy nut was allowed to spew, with the belief that "well, in America we have freedom of speech, don't have to agree with the nut job, but we defend to the death the right to speak".

Now, it seems, if one is not following the party agenda and speaking points, one must be silenced, no matter what it takes.

Shooter must ask; "what happened to our belief in free speech?"

LOL, it's fun watching CNN crash and burn....:hilarious:

CNN’s Brian Stelter returns from vacation to host lowest-rated ‘Reliable Sources’ of year
Show performed better with replacement host John Avlon

CNN’s struggling media program "Reliable Sources" with Brian Stelter hit another low on Sunday with its smallest audience of 2021 as the liberal program has now failed to crack the one-million viewer plateau for five consecutive weeks.

Stelter’s program averaged only 810,000 total viewers and a dismal 163,000 among the key demographic of adults age 25-54 on May 2, for its worst performance of the year in both categories.

To make matters worse for Stelter, his own show performed better last week when replacement host John Avlon filled in. The Avlon-hosted edition of "Reliable Sources" on April 25 averaged 907,000 for nearly a 100,000-viewer increase over Stelter’s return.

Avlon also topped Stelter’s most recent episode in the key demo, averaging 182,000 viewers among the group coveted by advertisers.

Stelter, who tweeted from his vacation spot to promote the previous edition of "Reliable Sources," has struggled to attract an audience since former President Trump left office. The far-left pundit spent years criticizing Trump’s every step, typically refraining from criticizing liberals and devoting ample time to bashing conservative media. The strategy doesn’t appear to be working as "Reliable Sources" has now been under one million viewers for seven of the past eight weeks.

"Reliable Sources" isn’t the only struggling CNN program, as revamped morning show "New Day" flounders. Newly minted co-host Brianna Keilar hasn’t been able to help the beleaguered show, as "New Day" had its worst week of the year among total viewers last week. It was even down five percent compared to the previous week when Keilar debuted in the seat previously occupied by Alisyn Camerota.

"New Day" is now averaging fewer than 500,000 viewers since it relaunched with Keilar and is down 37 percent compared to the first quarter when Camerota was still seated beside co-host John Berman.

"Reliable Sources" and "New Day" both contributed to CNN finishing the week of April 26 through May 2 with its worst performance since the week of February 17, 2020.

Ex-Bush Speechwriter Blasts ‘Immoral’ GOP: ‘To Be a Loyal Republican, One Must Be Either a Sucker or a Liar’

Former Bush speechwriter and current syndicated columnist Michael Gerson explained to CNN’s John Berman why he torched current Republicans as either “suckers” or “liars” in a recent op-ed.

Gerson appeared on Wednesday morning’s edition of New Day to discuss his recent column — entitled “Elected Republicans are lying with open eyes. Their excuses are disgraceful.” — on the current strife between Republicans who support the insurrectionist lies of former President Donald Trump and those few electeds who insist on admitting that President Joe Biden is the legitimately-elected president that’s currently manifesting itself in the attempted ouster of Rep. Liz Cheney from GOP House leadership.

Berman began by describing Gerson’s column as “biblical,” and quoting from this portion of the piece:

Nothing about this is normal. The GOP is increasingly defined not by its shared beliefs, but by its shared delusions. To be a loyal Republican, one must be either a sucker or a liar. And because this defining falsehood is so obviously and laughably false, we can safely assume that most Republican leaders who embrace it fall into the second category. Knowingly repeating a lie — an act of immorality — is now the evidence of Republican fidelity.

This kind of determined mendacity requires rolling out the big guns. Said the prophet Isaiah: “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil.”

Gerson explained to Berman that what Republicans are doing “is not just irrational, it’s immoral.”

He went on to say that “It’s a lie that creates and sustains a worldview that says that there’s a huge conspiracy of Republicans and disloyal Democrats, including the courts and the media, that is out to get Trump and his followers.”

“This is the myth he’s creating, and a lot of people are buying into this sincerely,” Gerson continued and claimed that “Republican leaders are not buying into a sincerely, they are buying into it out of fear or cynicism. And this is I think a major failure of leadership, a major failure of moral leadership for our country.”

WATCH: GOP strategist gets demolished on CNN for defending party's 'stupid' pro-Trump purge

Alice Stewart and Amanda Carpenter on CNN. (Screenshot)

On CNN Thursday, former Ted Cruz staffer Amanda Carpenter, a conservative critic of the GOP under former President Donald Trump, clashed with Republican strategist Alice Stewart over the GOP's effort to purge Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) from House leadership for her defiance of the former president's election conspiracy theories.

"The conference deserves someone who is going to unite the conference and help them win back the House in 2022," insisted Stewart.

"This is the dumb, stupid, tribalism that got us into this mess," said Carpenter. "The dumb, stupid tribalism where people can say, I will support Donald Trump no matter what because red team, yeah, blue team, bad. I mean, this is why we have to break this up. And Liz Cheney is not going to sacrifice an ounce of her conservative policy beliefs because she knows how to put country first. National security, democracy, our institutions are what unite us as a country, as Americans. Not getting behind a big lie and covering up for an insurrection because we wear a red hat."

"I've said this from election night on. The election was free and fair," said Stewart. "And when Donald Trump lost and Joe Biden won, he is the free and fair winner. I applauded him. I support him. He is our president of the United States. Why more Republicans don't acknowledge that, I don't know. But what is big and dumb and stupid, Amanda, is for republicans to go back and continue to relitigate the past instead of unite ... the midterm elections need to be about policy and not the past."

"I think protecting our institutions is a policy," said Carpenter. "I think when it comes to telling lies where people get into the voting booth, that's a policy. I think when people rant back voting rights based on big lies, that's a policy. And I don't agree with those policies. Maybe you do."

Devin Nunes attorney ordered to pay over $20K in legal fees to CNN after judge rules lawsuit 'frivolous'

    Gage Skidmore/Flickr

A federal judge made good on a his warning that he'd sanction the lawyer for Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), who filed a series of failed defamation suits against media outlets. As Law&Crime points out, U.S. District Judge Richard Bennet ruled that Nunes' attorney, Steve Biss, had "unreasonably and vexatiously" tried to drag on their lawsuit against CNN after the case had already been dismissed with prejudice for failing to state a claim in March.

Despite the dismissal, Biss filed an amended complaint that the judge described as "nothing more than a repetition of the original complaint with no new material factual allegations."

"The original complaint — filed on behalf of Nunes's senior aide Derek Harvey against CNN, former Rudy Giuliani business associate Lev Parnas, and Parnas's attorney Joseph Bondy — stemmed from a November 2020 CNN report that said Parnas was prepared to provide Congress with testimony in connection with Donald Trump's first impeachment proceeding," Law&Crimes Jerry Lambe reports. "CNN reported that Parnas would testify, in effect, that Nunes met with former Ukrainian prosecutor Victor Shokin 'to discuss digging up dirt of Joe Biden.'"

Harvey alleged that CNN falsely accused him of aiding and abetting a crime and sought punitive damages and a gag order.

"Harvey and Biss initially argued that CNN made 20 defamatory statements, but later filed an amended complaint that narrowed that number down to five," Lambe's report stated. "However, Judge Bennet concluded that even the trimmed down complaint contained the same "manifest deficiencies" regarding the statements in question which lacked 'defamatory meaning' and failed to 'plausibly allege material falsity' and 'actual malice.'"

According to Judge Bennet, CNN's request for $21,437 in attorney's fees was reasonable and he ruled as such.

How Refreshing: CNN, Stelter See Ratings Crater, Suffer Worst Week of 2021
    Curtis Houck

[IMG]Showing just how far CNN has fallen as they continue to struggle with symptoms of Trump withdrawal, Reliable Sources and host Brian Stelter suffered their worst rating of the year on Sunday as Nielsen Media Research showed a scant 936,000 total viewers subjected themselves to his hour of hate against Fox News and conservative media.

Worse yet, CNN’s ratings overall plummeted to their worst week of 2021. The Washington Post’s Paul Farhi dug into the Nielsen ratings on Monday and found CNN had hemorrhaged “45 percent of its prime-time audience in the past five weeks” with MSNBC down “26 percent in the same period” and the Fox News Channel only off by six percent.

The Wrap’s J. Clara Chan had more on CNN’s putrid performance (click “expand”):

For the week of March 15, CNN had just over 1.1 million average viewers during primetime and 269,000 in the key demo; for total day, the cable news network had 755,000 total viewers and 180,000 in the key demo. Compared to the same week last year, CNN dropped about 64% in the key demo during primetime and about 47% in total primetime viewers. For total day, the network dropped about 50% in total day viewers and 65% in the key demo compared to last year.

    (....)

The week of the insurrection, CNN averaged 2.130 million total viewers, MSNBC averaged 1.249 million and Fox News averaged 1.164 million in total-day viewership. The week of Biden’s inauguration, CNN averaged 1.144 million total viewers, Fox News averaged 1.114 million and MSNBC averaged 920,000.

The week of Trump’s impeachment, CNN brought in an average of 1.467 million viewers, while Fox News had an average of 1.356 million and MSNBC received an average of 1.336 million.

For Stelter, March 21 number was his lowest since September 27, 2020 when 891,000 poor souls tuned in to hear Stelter demand the co-chair of the Commission on Presidential Debates ruthlessly pile-drive President Trump into the ground with help from Trump hater and Lincoln Project helper Molly Jong-Fast and showboater Brian Karem.

    upload_2021-5-6_16-58-55.png
Like the rest of the acts in the Jeffrey Zucker-led circus, both numbers were well off a high of 2.674 million total viewers (and 629,000 in the demo) for January 10's show, just four days after the insurrection and attack on the U.S. Capitol. But after just over two million for the following Sunday (January 10), its been a precipitous drop.

On this past Sunday, Stelter’s show was more of the same, spewing hate in his never-ending quest to send Fox News employees to the unemployment rolls. It included an opening commentary lashing out at Tucker Carlson as the latest CNN-wide boogeyman who threatens equality, harmony, peace, and whatever else CNN believes is necessary for a safe and prosperous country.

During said screed, Stelter declared: “Bottom line here, you are what you watch and it could make you sick.”

Trust us, Brian. The feeling is mutual.

The long-time White House reporter announced her departure on the air during Friday’s episode of Special Report. “From the jobs report to my own job, this is my last live shot on my last day at Fox News,” Fisher said. “I have had an incredible run. I started out six years ago on the early morning weekend shift. I made it all the way to the White House, which is something that has been at the very top of my career bucket list ever since I was a very little girl,” she said. '
Wake up': Jim Acosta blasts Fox News for 'cult of Trump' panic over 'cancel culture'

    Bob Brigham
    May 08, 2021

Jim Acosta continues to harshly criticize Fox News on his new weekend show on CNN.

Last week, Acosta was praised for calling out the network as a "bullsh*t factory." Two weeks ago, he slammed Tucker Carlson as the Fox News "chief white power correspondent."

On Saturday, Acosta took on the network's coverage of so-called "cancel culture."

Acosta covered the right-wing network's panic over Snow White, Dr. Seuss, and Mr. Potato Head being "canceled."

He responded to an outrageous clip of Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) by saying, "Senator, this is a Wendy's."

"Either way, this is faux outrage. It feels like it's coming off an assembly line, you might say at a factory. But here's the thing, the same far right voices railing against cancel culture, they love to cancel, silence, harass, and banish anyone who won't pucker up and show some love to Donald Trump's 'Big Lie' about the 2020 election," he explained.

"Forget Snow White, it's the cancel cult of Trump that really bites," Acosta said. "Wake up!"

CNN's Jim Acosta demands to know if Tucker Carlson has been vaccinated — and why he won't tell his audience

    Sarah K. Burris
    May 09, 2021

    Screengrabs.

On his show Sunday, CNN host Jim Acosta addressed Fox News host Tucker Carlson and the bad-faith questions that he's asked about the COVID-19 vaccine.

The "questions" came to a head on Wednesday when Carlson implied that thousands of people had died as a result of the COVID-19 vaccine. In fact, what was found is that because elderly people were prioritized to get the vaccine, some of them died as a result of their age or illnesses in the weeks that followed.

Speaking to Acosta, medical analyst Dr. Jonathan Reiner explained that actual fatalities due to the vaccine are at almost zero. The greatest concerns have been about allergic reactions to the vaccine, which present within 30 minutes of getting it, and blood clots in older women from the Johnson and Johnson vaccine. Death from the virus is significantly higher than death from the vaccine, he explained.

Correlation does not imply causation, as Carlson claims. For example, if a Fox News viewer dies while watching the network, it doesn't mean Fox News killed them.

It prompted Acosta to ask if Carlson has been vaccinated. Presumably, if Carlson has gotten the vaccine, his viewers deserve to know if what he's saying applies to him or only to his viewers.

"I have two questions for Tucker Carlson," Acosta began, "ave you been vaccinated and why won't you tell your audience whether you've been vaccinated?"

Quite the cult like following that Trump has acquired....I bet the rest of the politicians in this country envy such a following....75 million.
