Biden admin. blames Trump for issues at border, labels Jan. 6 protesters as white supremacists

The secretary for the Department of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, is blaming the 45th presdient for the consequences of the Biden administration’s policies and is labeling January 6 protesters as terrorists.

Specifically, he’s blaming President Donald Trump for the border crisis. During an interview Monday, Mayorkas admitted there’s a problem at the southern border, but gave no fault to Joe Biden, Kamala Harris or himself. Instead, he insisted the issue stems from the Trump administration not sending enough money to other countries.

“Let me, if I can share with you what makes the challenge so acute at this point in time,” Mayorkas stated. “We are following an administration that, frankly, dismantled our capabilities to address it and so we are building it from the ground up. We lost four years of investing in the countries from which these individuals are migrating.”

The DHS secretary also said the administration’s plan to solve the problem is in place and working, adding he has “remarkable people” addressing the Biden border crisis. Yet, little action has been taken by the his administration to reduce illegal border crossings.

Also in his interview, Mayorkas went on to say “domestic violent extremism” is the biggest terrorist threat to the U.S. pertaining to the January 6 protests. GOP lawmakers have said January 6 protesters are facing political persecution after participating in the rally.

Mayorkas alluded to a political purge suggesting one is underway in the U.S. military. Many warn this is the first time in U.S. history when servicemen and women are labeled as “terrorists,” along with millions of other patriotic Americans.

Texas Judge Richard Cortez voiced his growing frustration with Joe Biden’s lack of attention towards the border. In a press conference on Thursday, the Hidalgo County judge said they never heard back from the Biden administration. Cortez said the issue has only gotten worse as the border patrol has released over 7,000 COVID positive illegal immigrants since February.

Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas) chimed into the conversation last week when he spoke with Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), where he pleaded something has to change at the border. He also claimed change will not occur with Kamala Harris as border czar.

“We need some help, and what we’re asking through the letter is to put a new set of eyes in a constructive way…somebody that has the experience that can deal with the border,” said Cuellar.

This comes as the Department of Homeland Security has continued to release illegal immigrants throughout he country without first being tested for COVID-19.

Joe Biden has reportedly filed vacancies on the federal bench at a much quicker pace than 45th President Trump. According to recent reports, eight of the 33 nominees the Democrat has put forward have already been confirmed by the Senate, including seven last month.

An expert with the Bookings Institution said Biden has appointed more federal judges than any president, at this point in their tenure, in the last forty years. Additionally, 14 of Biden’s picks for the federal court are waiting for confirmation votes in the upper chamber.

For now, it’s unclear if Biden will catch the 45th president’s count of 234 judges confirmed in his first term.

Education Secretary Miguel Cardona has expressed his support for controversial vaccine mandates for U.S. schools. Cardona said on Wednesday, he would favor the measures to require teachers and school staffs to have a COVID-19 vaccine ahead of the new school year.

This comes after embattled California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) ordered forced vaccinations for school personnel within the entire state. Cardona went on to claim mass vaccination is the best way to reopen schools.

“We know they are lining up to get vaccinated. Ninety percent of the teachers across the country have gotten vaccinated. We’re proud of that,” said Cardona. “We want to keep the efforts going. We want our youth to get vaccinated.”

Cardona also said mass vaccination would allow for the lifting of face mask requirements, despite the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommending face masks for those who took the vaccine as well.

 

Secretary of State Antony Blinken said he fears U.S. troops would have come under Taliban attack if they’d remained in Afghanistan any longer. In an interview on Sunday, Blinken tried to defend Joe Biden’s plan to withdraw troops, despite having to redeploy them amid a Taliban takeover.

Biden has taken heat over the move after saying just last month that it was unlikely the Taliban would overrun the country. According to Blinken, maintaining the status quo of troops in Afghanistan would have resulted in attacks on those troops.

“Like it or not, there was an agreement that the forces would come out May 1. Had they not, had we not begun that process, which is what the President did and the Taliban saw, then we would have been back at war with the Taliban,” stated Blinken.

When asked why troops weren’t being kept in the country until all personnel were out, Blinken said the quick redeployment of troops showed the administration was prepared for every contingency. He noted the Taliban has been warned of a swift response if they interfere with U.S. personnel or operations.
