The Biden administration has pulled a second nomination, this time withdrawing the pick for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives director. Reports on Thursday confirmed David Chipman would no longer be in the running to become the head of the ATF.

Chipman was heavily criticized for his blatant targeting of Second Amendment rights and his partisan record. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnel (R-Ky.) called it absurd that a vocal opponent of America’s constitutional rights was ever picked to run the ATF.

McConnell took to Twitter stating, “glad to hear reports the White House is taking my advice and pulling the terrible nomination of David Chipman. This is a win for the Second Amendment and law-abiding American citizens.”

Meet the Team of Israel-Haters Joe Biden Has Assembled

    BY ROBERT SPENCER

Oh yeah, this is sure to work: Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Wednesday, according to the Jewish Press, that he was “sending an envoy to the Middle East to ‘seek to calm tensions’ even as he urged Israel to avoid killing civilians.” Israel does more than any other military force has ever done to avoid killing civilians, so that was not a good sign. Even worse was that the soothing envoy is Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Hady Amr, an indefatigable supporter of the genocidal Palestinian Arab jihad against Israel.

Back in 2002, Amr declared: “I was inspired by the Palestinian intifada.” He said that Palestinians would “never, never forget what the Israeli people, the Israeli military, and Israeli democracy have done to Palestinian children. And there will be thousands who will seek to avenge these brutal murders of innocents.” He did not, of course, say a word about Hamas’ long-established practice of launching jihad attacks from civilian areas, so that retaliatory fire could be used for propaganda purposes. Of course, that was a long time ago, but Amr went on to a long career in the Obama administration and elsewhere, and never showed any sign that he had moderated his positions.

Anyone who is surprised that Biden’s handlers would send a jihad supporter to talk with the Israelis and Palestinians hasn’t been paying attention. Just days after Joe Biden was inaugurated, pro-Erdogan Turkish journalist Hakkı Öcal, according to Ahval News, “highlighted a report on the strong presence of Jews in the cabinet of U.S. President Joe Biden.” The report claimed that there was an “over 50 percent Jewish presence in the new U.S. cabinet,” and pointed Secretary of State Antony Blinken and CIA Deputy Director David Cohen, among others. But Öcal was off base: among Biden’s handlers, Jewish and non-Jewish, there are few, if any, staunch friends of Israel. After just a few months in office, it was clear that Joe Biden’s handlers’ administration was shaping up to be the most anti-Israel presidency since the founding of the modern State of Israel. That is clear from the appointments Biden’s handlers have made. A sampling:

Robert Malley, special envoy to Iran, has become notorious over the years for his support for Iran’s Islamic regime and pronounced distaste for Israel. The Washington Times revealed in February 2021 that back in July 2019, “Iran’s smooth, English-speaking foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, met with Robert Malley, who was President Obama’s Middle East adviser, in an apparent bid to undermine the Trump team and lay the groundwork for post-Trump relations.”

Malley was a good choice for such an assignment. An Israeli security official noted in February 2008 that Malley “has expressed sympathy to Hamas and Hizbullah and offered accounts of Israeli-Palestinian negotiations that don’t jibe with the facts.” Obama dropped Malley in May 2008 after it came to light that he had met with representatives of Hamas, but six months later sent him as an envoy to Egypt and Syria.

Biden picks Dr. Rob Califf as FDA commissioner

"As the FDA considers many consequential decisions around vaccine approvals and more, it is mission critical that we have a steady, independent hand to guide the FDA. I am confident Dr. Califf will ensure that the FDA continues its science and data drive decision-making," Biden said in a written statement released by the White Hous.

"I am honored to be nominated by President Biden for this position at a critical time for our country," Califf said in a statement to CNN. "There's a lot of work to do, and if confirmed I look forward to rejoining the great team at the FDA to help in their inspiring mission to serve the public."

In choosing Califf, Biden passed over Dr. Janet Woodcock, the acting commissioner. Though Woodcock was once considered for the role, she fell out of contention after it became clear she could not win the support of critical senators who criticized her role for how liberally the FDA approved opioids when she ran the drug division within the agency.

The administration was up against a deadline to name a permanent commissioner. Legally Woodcock could not stay on as the acting head past Monday unless a commissioner had been nominated.
CNN previously reported the White House was in the process of vetting Califf for the role. Last month, CNN reported Biden had recently held a call with Califf.

Califf previously led the agency from February 2016 to January 2017. During his confirmation process he faced opposition from several Democrats, including West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin, who criticized his ties to the pharmaceutical industry. But he was ultimately confirmed by a vote of 89-4 in the Senate.

In a statement released on Friday, Manchin announced his opposition to Califf's latest nomination.

"I have made it abundantly clear that correcting the culture at the FDA is critical to changing the tide of the opioid epidemic. Instead, Dr. Califf's nomination and his significant ties to the pharmaceutical industry take us backwards not forward. His nomination is an insult to the many families and individuals who have had their lives changed forever as a result of addiction," Manchin said in a statement.

When he was head of the FDA, Califf oversaw the controversial 2016 approval of eteplirsen, a drug used to treat Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), a rare form of the genetic disorder. In a review of the decision, Califf backed Woodcock, who went against the FDA's independent advisory group that recommended against eteplirsen's approval.

Joe Biden’s nominee for a top financial regulator suggested that U.S. energy companies must go bankrupt as part of her “climate agenda.”

“The way we get rid of those carbon financiers is we basically starve them of their sources of capital.”

    — Saule Omarova – Joe Biden’s nominee for Comptroller of the Currency

In a series of recent statements, Saule Omarova appeared to admit oil and gas have a competitive advantage over so-called “green” sources of energy. She said fossil fuels producers must go out of business before the “green” agenda can prevail.

Omarova received her education in the Soviet Union and has endorsed Soviet-style command economics in the past.

Omarova has refused to disclose the contents of her thesis, written at the Moscow State University, for which she was awarded the Lenin Prize.

    Just a funny aside.
biden transferred power to Harris on Friday Morning.
    Really.
    He 25th himself.

    Why?
Cause he needed to have a colonoscopy. You know, that's where they stick a camera up your ass to see just how big an asshole you are.
And to do that they generally knock you the fuck out.
Which is why biden gave up the reigns (pun intended) to Kamala while he was out.

For her part, Kamala behaved herself. The only thing she did was issue an executive order that declared her "queen for a day".

Reports are, biden passed the test with flying colors.

The thing about biden/harris being found "fit for duty" is that the despicables have to be very careful making much of the finding.
    Cause, if it's true that he has no dementia, no palsey, no neurological issues, just a touch of arthritis and a hernia, it makes it hard to explain this;

Unless, that is, you accept that he's just plain dumber than a post.

Really. Wouldn't it be better to admit he's got dementia?
Wouldn't that let harris hip check his ass with less controversy?

As the old adage goes:--here's the new boss, same as the old boss...so once again we see political paybacks, Half Cracker was notorious for this.

Biden-Backed Solar Company Lied About Effectiveness of Solar Modules, Lawsuit Says
Biden gave First Solar $500 million loan last month

Investors are suing a Biden-backed solar energy company that received a $500 million federal loan last month, claiming the company lied to shareholders about the effectiveness and financial viability of its solar modules.

A Michigan municipal pension fund alleges that executives at First Solar, which is owned by Biden megadonor and Walmart heir Lukas Walton, made "false and misleading statements" to investors and failed to disclose that its solar module was "grossly underperforming and was unable to hit its wattage targets." Those claims and omissions, the fund alleges, artificially inflated the company's stock price in 2019 and led to investor losses.

The class-action suit comes after the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) granted First Solar a $500 million federal loan in December to build a module manufacturing facility in India as part of President Joe Biden's "Build Back Better World" initiative. The funding drew concerns from ethics watchdogs that questioned whether the company's political connections—including Walton's substantial donations in 2020 to Biden and the Democratic National Committee—played any role in the decision. The DFC has denied any political considerations.

First Solar and the DFC did not respond to requests for comment.

In the lawsuit filed last week, the Pontiac City General Employees Retirement System claimed that First Solar's CEO and other senior executives failed to disclose that the company's solar module technology was "not commercially ready at the time of its release, had a component that was failing in the field and causing fires, was not able to hit its projected and touted wattage targets, and had an inconsistent output—all of which put First Solar at a competitive disadvantage."

Lawyers for the plaintiffs said investors became aware of these inconsistencies after a series of reports by the financial analysis firm Barclays, which downgraded First Solar's stock rating in January 2020.

"Defendants made materially false and misleading statements and omissions, and engaged in a scheme to deceive the market. This artificially inflated the price of First Solar common stock and operated as a fraud or deceit on the [investors]," said the lawsuit. "Later, when Defendants' prior misrepresentations and fraudulent conduct were disclosed to the market, the price of First Solar stock fell precipitously as the prior artificial inflation came out of the price over time."

In 2020, First Solar paid $350 million to settle another shareholder lawsuit brought by two U.K. pension funds that claimed the company had made misleading financial statements that artificially inflated its stock price between 2008 and 2012.

The Biden administration announced the $500 million loan to First Solar in December, touting it as the DFC's "largest single debt financing transaction" since the agency's creation in 2019. Ethics watchdogs pointed out the political connections between the company and the Biden administration, noting that First Solar's billionaire owner Walton in 2020 contributed $300,000 to the Biden campaign and $100,000 to the DNC.

Prior to 2019, the Development Finance Corporation was called the Overseas Private Investment Corporation and had a "history of deals gone bad when mixing taxpayer dollars with politically connected entities like First Solar," according to Tom Anderson, director of the Government Integrity Project at the National Legal and Policy Center.

A spokesperson for the DFC told the Washington Free Beacon in December that the loan was a "milestone in the U.S. effort to drive alternative supply chains that do not utilize forced labor" and had "absolutely nothing to do with politics."

First Solar came under scrutiny in 2012, when the GOP-led House Oversight Committee investigated a series of Department of Energy loans issued to solar companies by the Obama administration. The investigation was prompted by a scandal that involved another politically connected solar energy company, Solyndra, which had declared bankruptcy and defaulted on a $500 million federal loan.

Biden Restores Deleted Donor List After Criticism
President-elect expected to announce key ambassadorships in coming weeks

The move comes as Biden is expected to announce key ambassador picks in the near future. Top bundlers nominated for ambassadorships could face scrutiny in the Senate—while such positions have historically been awarded to high-dollar donors, progressive Democrats have condemned the practice in recent years.

"Nobody, in fact, will be appointed by me based on anything they contributed," Biden said in December 2019.

Biden has already awarded White House positions to a number of top campaign bundlers, including labor secretary nominee Marty Walsh, Health and Human Services secretary nominee Xavier Becerra, and secretary of the interior nominee Rep. Deb Haaland (D., N.M.), all of whom raised at least $100,000 for Biden's campaign. Multiple individuals rumored to be favorites for ambassadorships in the Biden administration—such as former congressman Steve Israel, Disney executive Bob Iger, and Miami real estate developer Michael Adler—also funneled six figures to the Delaware Democrat's campaign.

The Biden transition team did not respond to a request for comment on the decision to remove and later restore the bundler list, which can be viewed here.

Biden’s Asia Czar Failed To Disclose Speech Payments From Pro-China Investment Firm
Kurt Campbell revised financial disclosure on eve of wife's Senate confirmation hearing

President Joe Biden's Asia czar failed to disclose tens of thousands of dollars in speaking fees from a private equity firm with close ties to China, according to documents obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

Kurt Campbell, the head of Indo-Pacific affairs at the National Security Council, disclosed to the Office of Government Ethics in a filing released Thursday that he received $50,000 for two speeches to Blackstone in late 2020. Campbell's initial January 2021 disclosures did not list the speeches, nor one that he gave to the Prospect Foundation, a Taiwanese think tank.

Campbell submitted his revised financial disclosure on Dec. 23, a day after his wife, Lael Brainard, submitted her own disclosure after being nominated to serve as vice chair of the Federal Reserve. Brainard's confirmation hearing was held last Thursday before the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee. Brainard has come under scrutiny for refusing to say whether she is socialist or capitalist and for her remarks about the Chinese Communist Party.

Campbell's latest filing raises questions about why he failed to initially disclose the Blackstone speeches, which would have likely drawn scrutiny from progressives and conservatives alike. One of the biggest private equity firms in the country, Blackstone has pushed aggressively for closer economic ties between the United States and China. The company's CEO Stephen Schwarzman has been called a "China whisperer" and is said to maintain "one of the closest relationships to Beijing of any American executive." China Investment Corporation, the Chinese sovereign wealth fund, held a 12.5 percent stake in Blackstone until 2018.

Campbell faced criticism from watchdog groups who said his consulting firm, the Asia Group, operated as a "shadow lobbying firm." Critics say his work at the Asia Group presented conflicts of interest for his position at the National Security Council because of the company's work for major American companies doing business in Asia. The White House said in February that Campbell would recuse himself from matters involving his Asia Group clients and would list them on his filings with the Office of Government Ethics.

The new filing shows Campbell received $1,619,707 from Asia Group last year. He also received a $25,000 honorarium from the Prospect Foundation, a Taiwanese think tank that supports independence from mainland China. Campbell spoke by video at the Taiwan-U.S.-Japan Trilateral Indo-Pacific Security Dialogue, where he said the United States should remain committed to protecting democracy in Taiwan.

Campbell has offered mixed comments on United States policy toward China during his White House stint. In June, he said the Biden administration would continue the longstanding U.S. policy against recognizing Taiwan's independence from China. But in September, he angered Chinese officials by expressing support for changing the name of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in Washington to the Taiwan Representative Office.

Tony Podesta made $1M lobbying Biden White House for China’s Huawei

Well-connected Democrat Tony Podesta raked in $1 million last year lobbying the Biden White House on behalf of Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei.

Podesta started work for Huawei in August as the company attempts to free itself of Trump administration-rallied restrictions on the brand.

Podesta’s brother is Democratic Party bigwig John Podesta — who was Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign chairman after working as a White House adviser to President Barack Obama and as Chief of Staff to President Bill Clinton.

According to public disclosure forms released this week, Tony Podesta earned $500,000 lobbying the “Executive Office of the President” on “Issues related to telecommunication services and impacted trade issues” in the fourth quarter of 2021.

In the third quarter of 2021, Podesta disclosed another $500,000 from Huawei to lobby the “White House Office” on “Issues related to telecommunication services and impacted trade issues.”

The Trump administration persuaded US allies including Australia, Japan and the UK to ban Huawei from participating in 5G wireless projects over concerns that the company would help the Chinese government conduct surveillance.

In 2020, the Trump Commerce Department issued guidelines barring any non-American chipmaker from supplying Huawei without first getting approval from the US government.

The Washington Post reported last month on internal Huawei PowerPoint presentations marked “confidential” that described how the company surveils Chinese citizens though high-tech means, including through voice identification.

The documents showed the company also monitors political dissidents and slides even describe how the company’s products can help manage the schedules of detainees at reeducation and labor camps in the authoritarian nation.

Podesta spent much of the 2000s as DC royalty until his reputation crashed during Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation due to his links to Paul Manafort, a Republican lobbyist who was one of Trump’s campaign chairmen in 2016.

His Podesta Group lobbying firm shuttered in 2017 as he faced federal investigation.

Manafort was convicted in 2018 of concealing up to $60 million from tax authorities and later pleaded guilty to working as an unregistered foreign agent for a pro-Russian political party in Ukraine.

Podesta accepted $1.13 million as part of the same Ukrainian project. He also had not registered as a foreign agent, but was not charged criminally.

Podesta did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment on what exactly he did as part of his work lobbying the Biden White House on behalf of Huawei.

The Chinese government has spent $65 million https://www.opensecrets.org/fara/countries/223?cycle=2020 in Washington, according to OpenSecrets. Its spending in Washington has grown more than sixfold since 2016. These figures only include what is required to be disclosed under the Foreign Agents Registration Act.

Podesta has gotten his fair share.
