'It's a big lie': Chris Wallace challenges GOPer for refusing to say election wasn't 'stolen'

    Fox News/screen grab

Fox News host Chris Wallace challenged Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) over his effort to oust Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) from her leadership position in the Republican Party.

During an interview on Fox News Sunday, Wallace noted that Banks had deflected when asked about Cheney's criticism of former President Donald Trump, who has claimed that the election was stolen from him.

"I've asked you two questions, Congressman," Wallace said. "Why are you unwilling to discuss her criticism of President Trump?"

"I'm not," Banks insisted. "I know the belief that I have, that a majority of our conference have, that she has lost focus on the single mission that we have in winning back the majority, to push back against the radical Biden agenda, is the reason that she needs to be replaced."

Wallace reminded Banks that he had joined a lawsuit challenging President Joe Biden's election victory.

"I'm just asking a question," Wallace remarked. "Liz Cheney is saying it's a big lie to say the election was stolen. Liz Cheney is saying that, in fact, Donald Trump contributed to the riot. I'm asking you for your opinion on those issues. Is it a lie that the election was stolen? Did he contribute to the insurrection on the Capitol?"

"I've never said that the election was stolen," Banks replied. "I've said I had very serious concerns with how the election was conducted last November because of COVID rules that loosened voter identification laws. That's why I objected on January 6th. I'll never apologize for that."

The congressman went on to accuse Wallace of distracting viewers "from what we have to do to save this country."

A typical dumbfuckling attempt to describe something that wasn't there. The 'transcript' certainly doesn't say what the lying headline above says happened.
    Not even.

There's just another BIG LIE from the Bumbling one.

I'm watching the show this very minute.

WATCH: Jen Psaki expertly explains to Fox News’ Peter Doocy why Americans are scared to return to work

Jen Psaki and Peter Doocy (Screen Grab)

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, again, was forced to explain some very basic issues to Fox News reporter Peter Doocy.

Doocy asked many questions Monday afternoon, insisting that American workers are staying home rather than returning to work because, in his opinion, "the extra unemployment benefits are so good."

Citing "the majority of economists, internally and externally," Psaki explained that in fact unemployment benefits are not keeping workers home.

"We don't see much evidence that the extra unemployment insurance is a major driver in people not rejoining the workforce," Psaki told Doocy, "our analysis shows that lack of vaccination...has an impact, childcare has an impact, schools reopening has an impact, but there's also the need to pay a livable working wage."

That "lack of vaccination" in large part is the direct result of Fox News' anti-vaxxer personalities like Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham.

Minutes later Doocy however answered his own questions, noting that Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo "says the main reason that people are staying home is fear."

But then he asked, "How does the White House know that people are scared? What is that based on?" as if a worldwide pandemic spread through the air by infected humans, which has killed almost 600,000 Americans, is nothing to be afraid of.

That's when Psaki was again forced to explain some very basic issues to him.

"Well I think what she was referring to is the fact that there were there was a much lower vaccination rate, just a month ago, and that people are fearful about getting sick, they are fearful about whether they're going to have the conditions to be healthy, whether they can send their kids to a childcare center whether there is a childcare center. So those are all factors that are consistent with the examples and reasons I just provided."

    Replying to @atrupar
Peter Doocy: How does the White House know that people are scared? Jen Psaki: People are fearful about getting sick, they are fearful about whether they're gonna have the conditions to be healthy, whether they can send their kids to a child care center.

    Huh.
So, as Shooter understands it, once a person is vaccinated they are all but guaranteed not to contract or spread Covid. That has been the whole point of getting vaccinated. You know, so you can't get sick or make anyone sick.
    Right?

So, if I'm vaccinated, why do I have to worry about whether my coworker is vaccinated? If my kid is vaccinated, why do I have to worry about the kids or teachers my kid associates with are vaccinated?

Now. Presumably I needed child care before covid. Hard to claim now that I can't work because of child care, and oh, by the way? Not being able to seek or accept work because of domestic obligations is a reason in most states to deny unemployment. And its been that way for many years; long before covid.

So, what we're left with, in terms of why people are not returning to work is; I make more on unemployment than I do working.
    Thank you biden/harris.

    2022 approaches.

‘I’m Going to Try One More Time’: Fox’s Bret Baier Repeatedly Grills Mitch McConnell Over House GOP Ousting Cheney

Fox’s Bret Baier repeatedly pushed Sen. Mitch McConnell to respond to Liz Cheney’s ousting on House leadership.

Baier pushed back against McConnell’s avoidance of taking a clear stance on the Cheney vote multiple times throughout the interview.

Baier first asked the Senator if he thought the House vote was a good idea. McConnell responded, “It’s up to the House to make these kinds of decisions. We’re moving ahead in the Senate. Focusing on the current challenges we have with this new administration.”

Baier then recalled that although McConnell previously supported Cheney, in more recent remarks, “you seemed to go out of your way to avoid expressing that kind of support again.”

The senator did say he was a great admirer of Cheney, but reiterated that his focus was on the Biden administration, calling it a “left-wing kind of Bernie Sanders vision of what this country ought to be like.”

Once again Baier pushed him for a reaction to the Cheney vote, citing her calling out Trump’s influence and election conspiracies the night before.

A frustrated McConnell told Baier, “I don’t know how many times I have to tell you, I’m focusing on dealing with the conditions we find ourselves in now.” He repeated his stance that the election was legitimate.

The conversation then turned to how the 2022 election will go for Republicans and if Cheney’s ouster and the GOP’s continued embrace of Trump — despite his baseless complaints about election fraud — will have an impact. McConnell once again turned to the current administration and said 2022 results will be determined by Joe Biden’s performance.

Pushing yet again, Baier said, “Alright. I’m going to try one more time,” asking about Republicans using Trump’s name in fundraising emails.

“I’m not in the money-raising business. I’m in the Senate business,” McConnell said.

Notice another thing about treasonous conservative/Republicans is they not only can't see reality they can't even see themselves. Which is why they might post a picture of someone who never went to war, was a Tail gunner Joe snitch, and racist as a war hero.

Liz Cheney Calls Out Fox News to Bret Baier: You Have a ‘Particular Obligation’ to Ensure People Know Election Wasn’t Stolen

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) confronted Fox News anchor Bret Baier on his network’s responsibility to tell its viewers that the 2020 election was legitimate.

Cheney was ousted from House GOP leadership this week, and has made a point of continuing to criticize former President Donald Trump and his conspiracy theories about the 2020 election.

“We all have an obligation and I would say Fox News — especially, especially Fox News — has a particular obligation to make sure people know the election wasn’t stolen,” Cheney told Baier in an interview on Thursday.

Baier assured Cheney, “We have said that numerous times.”

“Fox News needs to make sure,” Cheney replied.

The pair began to speak over each other as Cheney defended her comments and Baier defended his network and show.

In the days and weeks after the election, some Fox News personalities peddled election fraud conspiracy theories and raised doubts about the 2020 election results. Some of the claims regarding Smartmatic, a voting technology firm, led to employees of the company receiving legal threats. Smartmatic sued Fox News and several of its top hosts for $2.7 billion, alleging the network spread lies about the election.

A poll from May found that 86% of Fox News viewers believe the election was stolen.

Both Baier and his fellow Fox News colleague, Chris Wallace, have been vocal about pushing back against the election conspiracies, repeatedly questioning Republican members of Congress about whether they acknowledge that President Joe Biden was legitimately elected.

Cheney continued to press her point on Thursday: “We need to make sure that the American people recognize and understand that the election wasn’t stolen, that we shouldn’t perpetuate the big lie, and that there is real danger.”

She also said that her focus is on stopping Biden, but that Trump’s legacy makes that difficult. “We cannot do that if we enable a lie,” she said. “We cannot do that if we fail to learn the lessons from the 2020 election.”

The congresswoman also made this point through an electoral appeal. “We have to get people to vote for us. And we can’t do that if we are a party that’s based on a foundation of lies. I think what the former president is doing is dangerous.”

Baier pushed back on her comments by pointing out that in Wyoming, more people voted for Trump than her.

Baier reacted to Cheney’s repeated urge to accept the election results, “You said the exact same thing numerous times.”

    Cheney simply replied, “It’s important.”

'Like drinking bleach': Ex-Obama adviser derails Fox News segment attacking Biden's COVID response

    Fox News/screen grab

Marjorie Clifton, a former consultant for the Obama campaign, derailed a Fox News segment on Monday by reminding host Harris Faulkner that former President Donald Trump had dangerously suggested ingesting bleach to cure COVID-19.

Clifton's remarks came during a Fox News segment that criticized President Joe Biden over a Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommendation that permits vaccinated people to go without a mask in public places.

"Why can't this administration get on one message that works?" Faulkner asked Clifton.

"Because I don't think there's one message that anyone will adopt," Clifton replied. "Because all of those that said over time we don't want to have masks anymore now have been given permission to shed their masks and yet they're critics."

"I think, unfortunately, in the current day political environment there's never going to be a winning strategy, there's never going to be a one-size-fits-all policy around it," she added.

"But that's not what he sold America," Faulkner scoffed.

"That's what news is apparently thriving on these days," Clifton observed. "Because that's all we've talked about so far."

"What about science?" the Fox News host shot back.

"And the CDC's policies they put forward is based on science," Clifton said. "If you're vaccinated, you don't have to wear a mask. If you aren't then you should. So that's science. Yet we're criticizing that right now."

"You've got to tell us the truth," Faulkner said, ignoring Clifton's point. "It's more facts, less policy."

    "Like drinking bleach?" Clifton interrupted.

"Oh, God," Faulkner remarked. "Not funny."

Fox’s John Roberts Corrects House Republican in Real Time on False Claim that U.S. Funded Research at Wuhan Lab

    upload_2021-5-24_15-23-1.png

Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) joined John Roberts on Fox News Monday to offer his reaction to a report in The Wall Street Journal about the origins of Covid-19. According to a previously undisclosed U.S. intelligence document, three researchers at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China became so sick in November 2019, they needed hospitalization. China had previously told the World Health Organization that the first recorded instance of a patient with Covid-like symptoms occurred in December, and this reporting has further fueled calls for an investigation into whether the virus originated in a lab. On Monday, a spokesman for China’s foreign ministry said the report is “completely untrue.”

Gallagher ripped into Chinese officials, saying they’ve been “deliberately covering up” evidence that would be useful in a thorough investigation into the origins of Covid-19. Then he took aim at Dr. Anthony Fauci.

“Most remarkably, we have people like Dr Fauci, who for a year has been throwing cold water on the lab leak hypothesis,” said Gallagher. “And his cronies were really denigrating anyone who was suggesting we should investigate the lab leak hypothesis now starting to say ‘Well actually, it may be more than a remarkable coincidence that China’s only level-four biosafety lab happens to be in the very place where this entire pandemic started.'”

To be clear, Fauci has never outright rejected the idea that Covid-19 originated in a lab, though he did say there’s no scientific evidence indicating the hypothesis is correct. Gallagher continued,

But the fact is that Dr. Fauci is still lying about the fact that U.S. taxpayer dollars, granted by his organization – NIAID [National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases] – went to something called the EcoHealth alliance run by Dr. Peter Daszak which funded dangerous gain-of-function research making naturally occurring coronaviruses more pathogenic, more infectious at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. We need to follow the money to understand whether our taxpayer dollars were funding the very research that may have started this entire thing.

Roberts let Gallagher finish his response before correcting his guest.

“We should point out,” said Roberts, “That Dr. Fauci in congressional hearings unequivocally said that the NIAID did not fund gain-of-function research at Wuhan, but he did not deny that the NIH [National Institutes of Health] was funding gain-of-function research here in the United States.”

Fauci’s testimony that Roberts cites here is indeed supported by the facts.

On Monday, Fauci told Weijia Jiang of CBS he still believes that Covid-19 originated naturally.

Chris Wallace grills Mike Pompeo: Trump 'had almost a year' to prove China lab leak theory

    Fox News/screen grab

Fox News host Chris Wallace on Sunday pressed former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo about what the Trump administration had done to force China to provide evidence that the COVID-19 virus came from a lab.

Pompeo, who is now a Fox News contributor, faced questions from Wallace while appearing on Fox News Sunday.

"You also criticized President [Joe] Biden for not pushing hard enough on China to look for the origins of the coronavirus," Wallace noted. "But I want to again go back to your administration and the record there."

Wallace continued: "President Trump and his team, including you, had almost a year after the COVID-19 first came on the scene to really press Beijing on what the origins were when the evidence was much fresher... What did President Trump and his administration, including the secretary of state, do to press China harder to get the evidence on where the COVID-19 virus came from because we still don't know?"

But Pompeo refused to answer the question.

"Chris, the predicate of your question is all wrong," he insisted. "We have a really good idea what happened here. There is an enormous amount of evidence that there was a leak from the Wuhan Institute of Virology. There's a pile of evidence 100 feet high. I have high confidence that that's the case."

"We pressed the Chinese communist party really hard," Pompeo said. "We withdrew from the WHO, which had become politicized. This administration chose to get back into that. I don't know what tools they think they're going to use. But we were serious in this endeavor. We made it clear that there would be real consequences for the Chinese Communist Party."

The former secretary of state added: "We got very close to being able to make a laydown case for what actually happened and how this virus came to kill millions of people around the world and destroy billions of dollars in wealth. We know enough now. The coverup continues and it's time for accountability."

"Do you that the virus came from a lab leak from the Wuhan Institute?" Wallace asked.

    "I do," Pompeo replied.
