Trump handed Democrats the ‘playbook’ to defeat Loeffler and Perdue at his Saturday rally: Georgia’s GOP Lt Gov

Appearing on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Georgia’s Republican Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan expressed dismay with the message Donald Trump delivered to a rally crowd in Valdosta Saturday night, saying the president may have hurt the re-election prospects of both of the state’s GOP U.S. Senators.

Speaking with host Jake Tapper, Duncan said Trump’s speech was a mixed bag for Republicans.

Asked if the president helped or hurt Sens. Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue, Duncan — very cautiously — criticized the president.

“The president at a rally in Georgia last night insists he won your state, which is not true,” Tapper began. “He attacked your governor and attacked the Republican Secretary of State, going after [Brad] Raffensperger, a friend of yours. He called the election rigged. Set the record state if you would.”

“The first part was very encouraging to listen to the president champion the conservative strategies of Senators Loeffler and Perdue and the importance for them being re-elected and the second message was concerning to me,” Duncan responded. “I worry that this continues fanning of the flames around misinformation puts us in a negative position with regard to the January 5th runoff.”

“You know, the mountains of misinformation are not helping the process but only hurting it,” the GOP lawmaker added. “I worry we are handing off a playbook to the Democrats for January 5th and I certainly can’t think of a worse playbook to handoff over the last four or five weeks to the Democrats.”

The Georgia runoff elections that will determine control of the U.S. Senate will not be held until January, but Republicans are already playing the blame game over who will be held responsible if Democrats prevail.

Sen. David Perdue (R-GA) and interim Sen. Kelly Loeffler are running in the January 5th elections. Trump traveled to Georgia for a Saturday rally for the two, but only let them speak for a combined 2 minutes.

On Monday, Trump blasted three statewide elected officials in Georgia for not going along with his scheme to overturn the election results. Trump lost the state to President-elect Joe Biden.

In a tweet, Trump lashed out at Republican Gov. Brian Kemp, Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan, and Secretary of State Brad Raffensberger, saying the three “will be solely responsible for the potential loss of our two GREAT Senators from Georgia.”

“Won’t call a Special Session or check for Signature Verification! People are ANGRY!” Trump added.

Appointed Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-GA) attempted to raise money on the right-wing-friendly social media site Parler. It didn’t go well.

Loeffler, like other Republican Senators, isn’t doing anything about President Donald Trump’s loss. As a senator, Loeffler could propose a bill giving confidence to Trump around the election and call for all Republicans to vote on it. Sen. David Perdue (R-GA) could do the same, but he too is mum on the subject.

So, when Loeffler took to Parlor asking for election help, it wasn’t shocking that she was faced with a slew of attacks.

“I hope you lose you stuck up b*tch. Help Trump and then go away. But you cant (sic) even do that. Your (sic) bought and paid for,” said one person.

“Your net worth is literally $500 MILLION dollars (sic). Quit begging for money and write your own check,” said another.

RNC files lawsuit to uphold voting laws ahead of Ga. runoff elections

The GOP has filed a lawsuit in Georgia to ensure that election law is properly followed in the January runoff election. The suit was filed on Tuesday and includes allowing proper access for poll-watchers as well as creating greater restrictions, including ballot box surveillance.

The RNC stated they believe if nothing is done then serious problems, like those present in the presidential election, will reoccur in the Georgia runoff race.

During the November election, Republican poll-watchers were often not close enough to observe the counting of the votes or weren’t allowed in the building at all. This made it difficult to ensure an unbiased count of the vote.

Additionally, Republicans in Georgia, along with other states, have called the unilateral expansion of absentee ballot infrastructure unconstitutional.

GOP members have argued the responsibility to decided a state’s voting process and regulations rests with the legislature, not the judiciary or executive branch.

Republican voters in Georgia have grown concerned, saying that if nothing is changed to secure the voting process then the election will be stolen again.

While Georgia Republican Gov. Brain Kemp and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger refuse to call a special session of the legislature, voters are losing faith their vote will be secure.

Despite many witnesses coming forward with voter fraud testimonies and the secretary of state admitting their was systemic fraud, many Republican lawmakers appear to remain complacent.

RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel has vowed the Republican Party is going to fight for the security of the elections and the President. She encouraged voters to still go out and vote for Sen. Kelly Loeffler and Sen. David Perdue on January 5.

“You know, they’ve used the pandemic and the phony, fake ballots, the mail in ballots…they used that to sabotage a country,” President Trump stated. “We’re not gonna let it happen…as you know a major issue in this state (Georgia) is voter fraud.”

A speaker with a bullhorn on a makeshift stage urged far-right provocateur Nick Fuentes to take the stage.

“And this kid, believe me, everyone has thrown him under the bus,” the speaker said.

“Charlie Kirk,” the speaker listed by name — to boos from the crowd. “Ben Shapiro, the original never-Trumper. We hate Ben Shapiro!”

Fuentes then took the stage.

“At the first Million MAGA March, we promised that if the GOP would not do everything in their power to keep Trump in office, then we would destroy the GOP,” Fuentes. “And as we gather here in Washington, DC for a second Million MAGA March, we’re done making promises. It has to happen now, we are going to destroy the GOP.”

The crowd then began chanting, “Destroy the GOP” as seen in video posted by News 2 Share producer Ford Fischer.

Multiple Republicans headed to Georgia to rally in support of Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) and Sen. David Perdue (R-Ga.) ahead of the crucial runoff elections.

Republicans from all over the country gathered to rally for the GOP in Georgia’s runoff election.

The campaign rally for Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue was held in Marietta on Friday. Event attendees traveled from all around the country to show their support for the Republican candidates in the runoff election.

The race has garnered national attention as the battle against Democrat candidates Raphael Warnock and John Ossoff will determine party control of the Senate.

Among those who spoke at the event was former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin (R-Alaska). The former vice-presidential candidate issued a call to action for Georgia that emphasized the fate of the country rests in their hands.

“I wanna speak on behalf of the rest of America,” Palin said. “Georgia, we need you to not just show up, not just win, but to crush it!”

Palin assured voters Republicans will keep America great, so long as they hold on to the Senate. She was also joined by Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) and Georgia Representative-elect Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) in their show of support for the GOP.

Greene, who will represent the state’s 14th congressional district, also called on Georgians to show up to the polls.

She went on to condemn voter fraud in the November presidential election, though she urged voters not to let the corruption dissuade them from casting their vote in January.

“We have a second fight on our hands and this one is so important. No matter how upset we are, no matter how concerned we are about our elections,” Greene said. “We have to turn out strong for our senators…we have to vote for them and make sure we hold those Senate seats.”

More than 1 million voters in Georgia have requested mail-in ballots as turnout is expected to explode in next month's runoff Senate elections.

Data obtained by The Wall Street Journal showed that roughly 1.2 million mail-in ballots have been requested and another 200,000 have already been filled out and returned, suggesting that voters are eager to participate in the runoff contests, which have historically seen lower levels of turnout.

Democrats Jon Ossoff and the Rev. Raphael Warnock are hoping to unseat two sitting GOP senators, Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue, in next month's contest after seeing their state go blue for President-elect Joe Biden last month. * Biden's win in the state was a notable victory for Democrats, who haven't won the state since 1992, and unseating Perdue and Loeffler would swing the balance of the U.S. Senate in favor of Democrats just in time for the incoming Biden administration.

As many as 67 percent of those who requested mail-in ballots for November's elections in the state have requested them again for January's runoffs, according to the data obtained by the Journal from U.S. Elections Project.

“It looks like we’re going to have a high-turnout election,” the state's top elections official, Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (R), told the newspaper. “I would encourage all the candidates to make sure that they run hard, because we don’t have a runoff after the runoff. This is it.”

First ,she has been incredible at getting people, especially Black people, to register and vote. But one thing the Republicans are counting on is Democrats have a terrible record of showing up for a run off election. But this time Abrams is out there telling people, especially Black people, their vote could never be more important than this election to try and take the Senate. And its just so simple. If Black people show up and vote there is no way to stop them from winning. That is a huge incentive.

On Monday, the Electoral College met to formalize the results of this year’s presidential election — and that included electors in Georgia, where President-elect Joe Biden won the state’s 16 electoral votes. President Donald Trump, however, has pushed a disinformation campaign alleging he was the real winner in Georgia. And on Twitter, Trump threatened that the state’s two incumbent GOP senators competing with Democrats in runoffs could have a “bad day” on January 5 if the presidential election result isn’t overturned.

With Democrat Stacey Abrams presiding, Georgia’s 16 electoral votes were cast for Biden on Monday. And it was also on Monday that Trump angrily railed against Gov. Brian Kemp on Twitter. Trump is furious with Kemp as well as Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, both Republcans, for acknowledging that Biden won Georgia. Trump tweeted:

The incumbent Republican senators in Georgia that Trump is referring to are Sen. Kelly Loeffler and Sen. David Perdue. While Perdue is competing with Democrat Jon Ossoff, Loeffler’s Democratic opponent is the Rev. Raphael Warnock.

The outcome of these races will determine whether or not Republicans maintain control of the U.S. Senate. If Warnock and Ossoff are victorious, Democrats will obtain a narrow Senate majority — with the help of a tie-breaking vote from Vice President-elect Kamala Harris — and Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky will be Senate minority leader rather than Senate majority leader.

Kemp recently rejected Trump’s demand for a “special session” to oppose the election results. Earlier this month, Kemp and Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan warned, in an official statement, “Any attempt by the legislature to retroactively change that process for the November 3 election would be unconstitutional and immediately enjoined by the courts, resulting in a long legal dispute and no short-term resolution.”

President Trump’s close ally Roger Stone further stirred up speculation about a Florida Senate run while appearing at a ‘Stop the Steal’ rally. He rallied supporters during a speech at the event in Miami on Sunday.

One of the supporters held a sign which read: Where is Marco? This comes after Stone took to social media to ask where the incumbent senator was and claimed a growing number of Republicans are urging him to run against the lawmaker.

Stone also said he’s more likely to run against Sen. Rick Scott who he claims never took responsibility for a $1 billion theft from Medicaid.

During an MSNBC “Morning Joe” discussion on Donald Trump’s actions in the waning days of his presidency, co-host Wille Geist noted the president is spending all his days playing “victim” in order to scam conservative voters out of more money, which contributor Kasie Hunt said is “pissing off Republicans on the Hill.”

As Geist explained, “They’re still making a lot of money off that victimhood that has been at the center of Donald Trump’s story for so many years. He’s now the victim of the media, he’s the victim of Democrats, he’s become the victim of courts, he’s become the victim of state electors doing their job and the victim of the three Supreme Court justices he nominated and got confirmed to the Supreme Court.”

“So the narrative of victimhood has to remain in place for the story to continue and for the money to keep flowing and, as you said, Donald Trump is raising a ton of money,” Geist told co-host Joe Scarborough. “There are the text messages and emails to the supporters to prove it. ‘We need $35 right now to continue to prosecute that case’ and that money goes somewhere else, so he’s hustling his own voters to build up his own pocketbook and the pocketbook of the Republican Party.”

After a discussion on current Congressional negotiations for COVID-19 relief, contributor Hunt turned back to the president’s fundraising efforts.

“To your earlier point very, very quickly,” Hunt began. “The money that Republicans are gathering, that President Trump is raising — Republicans on the Hill, they’re pissed off because they are taking that money and they are saying, ‘Oh, you have to help us win these elections in Georgia to win the Senate majority.’ The Trump team is taking that money and doing things for themselves with it.”

Hunts comments fall in line with a recent Politico report that stated, “Trump’s new political machine is pocketing most of the dough — and the campaigns of the Georgia senators competing in the Jan. 5 races aren’t getting a cent.”

Politico added, “The predicament has intensified broader concerns within the GOP that Trump will use his post-presidency to advance his own interests at the expense of the party,” with GOP consultant Doug Heye insisting, “The reality is Donald Trump does not care about the future of the Republican Party, so if he can raise money off of the Georgia runoffs but keep the money for his own purposes, he will do so.”

Lin Wood, the pro-Trump lawyer who along with Sidney Powell has filed a string of failed lawsuits challenging the results of the 2020 election, fired off a tweet this Monday calling for the jailing of Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.

“[President Trump]is a genuinely good man. He does not really like to fire people. I bet he dislikes putting people in jail, especially ‘Republicans,'” Wood wrote. “He gave @BrianKempGA & @GaSecofState every chance to get it right. They refused. They will soon be going to jail.”

The tweet caught the eye of President Trump, who promptly retweeted it — a retweet that Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) was completely baffled by.

“As my grandma used to say ‘oh heavens!’ Lin Wood is a massive grifter RINO,” Kinzinger wrote. “Why in Gods name would @realDonaldTrump retweet this?”
