Dan Crenshaw Buries ‘Petty and Childish’ Marjorie Taylor Greene for Big-Tech Victimhood ‘Scam’

Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) tore into fellow Republican House member, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), on Monday for her lack of substantive “anti-censorship legislation” and what he sees as her desire to “remain a victim.”

Greene was permanently suspended from Twitter over the weekend for continuing to share Covid-19 disinformation. “Twitter is an enemy to America and can’t handle the truth,” Greene responded in a statement Sunday. “That’s fine, I’ll show America we don’t need them and it’s time to defeat our enemies.”

Crenshaw, having no patience for Greene’s vow to “defeat our enemies,” called her out for her lack of actual action on the issue. Crenshaw, a former Navy SEAL, has publicly criticized far-right members of his party before. In early December, he called Freedom Caucus members “grifters” and “performance artists” who use their position in Congress not to legislate, but to gain notoriety and stir up the base.

    Crenshaw wrote on Instagram:

“And @realmarjoriegreene, instead of playing the victim about censorship maybe use your position as a LEGISLATOR to help pass LEGISLATION against censorship.

Luckily I’ve already done all the hard work for you and drafted a bill that would change Section 230 to prohibit political censorship.

Want to co-sponsor before I introduce it? Or prefer to keep up with petty and childish attacks? Your call.

Crenshaw, who was also feuding with Greene over Covid-19 regulations and called her an “idiot,” added:

That Marjorie scoffed at the notion of supporting anti-censorship legislation is indicative of her true intent: to remain a victim.

She doesn’t want solutions and she doesnt care if you get censored. She just wants to be a victim so she can keep asking you for campaign donations. It’s a scam.

Dan Crenshaw becomes target of right-wing rage after he accuses Marjorie Taylor Greene of being an 'idiot'

It began on Sunday when digital shots were fired between Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX).

Greene over the weekend got banned from Twitter after she posted more false information about the COVID-19 pandemic, including false claims that unvaccinated Americans aren't being allowed into hospitals.

Greene also got into a feud with Crenshaw over what the federal government's response to the pandemic should be.

The two battled about what should be done, with Crenshaw demanding help from the federal government to help states with testing sites. Greene went after Crenshaw saying that he's not really a conservative and he's hurting the Republican Party's brand.

Crenshaw hit back on his Instagram account saying, "Hey Marjorie, if suggesting we should follow Trump policy instead of Biden mandates makes you mad, then you might be a Democrat -- or just an idiot."

The right-wing world of Greene followers pounced on Crenshaw and accused him of being a "Republican in Name Only," among other insults.

"There are extremists in all political groups yet you seem to want to only condemn those on the left or ethnic minorities or perhaps members of the lgbtq community but the lynch mobs on the right are good upstanding citizens?
    That makes you a bigot!"

You have no idea of whom I would or would not condemn. I thought we were making progress in civility, but I guess not. I understand that you are trying to troll me -- we're discussing BLM. You somehow link that to the lgbtq community using the word "perhaps," and then suddenly tell me that that makes me a bigot. However, once your high level, critical thinking is pointed out, do you actually understand how stupid it makes you sound? All that's missing now to complete the idiocy is stumbles giving it a like.

So, like all the other progressive pigeons pecking away out there trying to play chess, my best wishes to you on using your short, little pigeon pecker to continue pounding out your nonsensical messages.

    Best Regards

I am telling you I think its shaping up to be one hell of a fun primary season. Fucking open session

Former Staffer: Kevin McCarthy Didn’t Check in on Me After Jan. 6 Attack

Ryan O’Toole, a former staffer for House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), told CNN on Thursday that his then-boss didn’t check in on him in the aftermath of the deadly Jan. 6 Capitol attack. O’Toole, who now works for Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), said that members of Congress were “fearful for their lives” after the Capitol was breached. At the same time, he said it caused “dismay” that some members, such as Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL), were “cheering on” the rioters. “My recollection was that he didn’t engage with any of his staff,” O’Toole replied to anchor Jake Tapper’s question about McCarthy’s post-attack comments to staffers. “I didn’t get a chance to have any sort of debriefing. My understanding is none of McCarthy’s staff were able to connect with him regarding the day’s events or how to respond to them.” O’Toole, however, said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) thanked the GOP floor team for its assistance.

I don't blame them and think we will see a lot more of this. Many rich GOP donors are not really as fanatical as the treasonous conservative/Republicans. They are actually pragmatic and lavish treasonous conservative/Republicans with cash because they know they can always count on them to do their bidding and make them richer. But that can actually only go so far because being pragmatic they know just outrageous corrupt waste when they see it. Why in the fuck should they be paying Trump's personal legal bills?

Here's why this major GOP donor is no longer supporting the Republican National Committee

    Bob Brigham

    Gage Skidmore.

The Republican National Committee is not a good investment for conservative donors as it funds legal defense, a former ambassador to the Vatican who served in Congress told ABC News.

"In October and November alone, the Republican National Committee spent nearly $720,000 of its donor money on paying law firms representing Trump in various legal challenges, including criminal investigations into his businesses in New York, according to campaign finance records," ABC News reported Monday. "The RNC has so far paid three law firms on behalf of Trump, paying $328,000 to NechelesLaw LLP, $200,000 to van der Veen, Hartshorn and Levin, and $172,000 to Fischetti & Malgieri LLP, according to its recent disclosure filings."

The RNC has agreed to spend $1.6 million on Trump's legal bills, which has offended one prominent former GOP donor.

"It is very disheartening to see RNC donors funding Trump's legal bills," former Rep. Francis Rooney (R-FL) said.

"I used to support the RNC quite a bit, especially when Reince Priebus was there," Rooney explained. "But I don't see myself doing it right now because they keep giving money to Trump."

ABC News described Ambassador Rooney as "a generous donor to the Republican Party, giving upwards of $1 million to various GOP candidates and groups over the years."

Rooney also addressed Trump's 'big lie' of election fraud.

"We're getting tarred with this big lie and this claim of election fraud, and that is damaging our most important institution in our country -- belief in elections," he said.

California Democrats propose tax hikes on businesses and the wealthy to pay for statewide universal healthcare

California Democrats are moving ahead with a proposal to introduce universal healthcare in the state, proposing tax hikes on businesses and the wealthy to pay for the first-in-the-nation plan.

According to a report from the Associated Press, the plan has drawn opposition from Republicans, insurers, and some doctors in the state. California Assemblyman Ash Kalra proposed a Constitutional amendment to pay for the plan.

Under the proposal, businesses that make at least $2 million in annual revenue would be subject to a 2.3% payroll tax, companies with at least 50 employees would be subject to a 1.25% tax, and employers who pay employees at least $49,900 would be subject to a tax of a 1%, the AP reported.

The proposal also calls for increased taxes on some of California's wealthiest citizens, including a 0.5% income tax on people earning at least $149,509 and a 2.5% tax for people earning more than $2.48 million per year, according to the AP.

Adam Schiff slams 'weak' Kevin McCarthy for caving to extremist lawmakers after committee threats

On Tuesday's edition of CNN's "OutFront," Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) responded to the threats from House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) to strip Schiff and others of their committee assignments should Republicans take the House majority.

"I think the reality is McCarthy is a very weak leader," said Schiff. "And as a result, he is already being led around by the most extreme elements of his conference — the Marjorie Taylor Greenes and others that are calling for retribution because of their removal."

"The departure from precedent here was McCarthy's failure to hold his own members accountable, which, traditionally, Democratic leaders and Republican leaders have policed their own," continued Schiff. "But McCarthy's been too weak to do that, and so it required Democrats to take action when Paul Gosar was glorifying the killing of one of his colleagues. And similarly, when Marjorie Taylor Greene was spouting her conspiratorial QAnon and anti-Semitic stuff. So, you know, it — I think the precedent has been broken here, it's been broken by McCarthy."

READ MORE: Donald Trump Jr. tries taunting Eric Swalwell — and gets brutally burned

He then suggested that it didn't matter what Democrats did because McCarthy would ultimately take orders from former President Donald Trump.

"More importantly, though ... than whatever he might do vis-à-vis Democrats and committee assignments is the fact that he will do whatever Donald Trump wants him to do, and if Donald Trump wants him to overturn the next election because Trump loses again, McCarthy will do it, and that is a real and present threat to our democracy," added Schiff.

Louie Gohmert accuses Texas AG Ken Paxton of lying to Trump in clash of MAGA candidates

    John Wright
    January 13, 2022

    Texas Republican Louie Gohmert (screengrab)

Right-wing Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) is accusing Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton of lying to former President Donald Trump to win his endorsement.

Gohmert, who's challenging Paxton in the 2022 GOP primary, told CBS 11 that he called Trump last summer, after hearing that the former president was thinking about getting behind Paxton.

“I suggested that he hold up," Gohmert said. "I said, ‘I’m even thinking about it (running) if there’s not a better alternative.'"

Trump endorsed Paxton in July, before Gohmert entered the race in November.

According to Gohmert, after he entered the race, Trump called him and said, "‘I was told that you were definitely not running before I endorsed."

"Well, I didn’t tell him that," Gohmert told CBS 11. "So, it became clear it took a lie, a lie to President Trump that Gohmert’s definitely not running in order to get the endorsement and further reinforces this Attorney General will do anything and say anything to get what he wants. That’s not the kind of Attorney General we need. There’s only one person who helped to lie and say I was definitely not running and that was Ken Paxton, either him or somebody on his behalf. Nobody else had any motive to say that and lie about it.”

Neither Paxton's nor Trump's office responded to requests for comment, according to CBS 11.

Gohmert is one of three Republicans challenging Paxton, along with Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush, the nephew of former president George W. Bush, and Texas Supreme Court Justice Eva Guzman.

"Guzman, Bush, and Gohmert have all expressed concerns in interviews with CBS 11 that if Paxton wins the primary, he could then be indicted on federal charges after some of his former top lieutenants in the Attorney General’s Office accused of him bribery and other allegations," the station reported. "Paxton and the Attorney General’s Office have denied any wrongdoing. He has also pleaded not guilty to state fraud charges and is awaiting trial."

Gohmert predicted that the race will result in a runoff between him and Paxton.

Katalina Hauf a pro-Donald Trump Republican announced plans on Wednesday to challenge one of the former president’s most vocal critics in Congress, Illinois U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger. Catalina Lauf, of northwest suburban Woodstock, first announced her intentions on social media to challenge Kinzinger for the 16th Congressional District, which skirts the Chicago suburbs from the Indiana border to the Wisconsin line.

“Over this last year — over the last two or three years, really — the country’s been in a lot of turmoil and we’re seeing that manifest itself in Congress,” Lauf said in a phone interview, pointing to what she calls the “heavily politicized COVID-19 response” among other issues. “And now you have a representative like Adam who would rather spend his time and platform talking about impeachment and censoring Marjorie Taylor-Greene — another member of Congress. That’s not representing the values of our district, and it’s not servant leadership.”

‘A huge setback for the GOP': Republicans suffer a blow in their fight for control of the House

    Alex Henderson, AlterNet
    January 15, 2022

    Kevin McCarthy on Facebook

Between President Joe Biden’s weak approval ratings, gerrymandering and voter suppression, many pundits have been predicting that Republicans will retake the U.S. House of Representatives in November. But that remains to be seen, and Republican gerrymandering was dealt a blow in the Midwest this week when the Ohio Supreme Court — including Chief Justice Maureen O’Connor — struck down the congressional map that Ohio Republicans had in mind for the Buckeye State.

On top of that, Rep. John Katko of New York State has announced that he won’t be seeking reelection — which is more bad news for the GOP. Katko is one of the Republicans who is moderate enough to fare well among centrist Democrats and swing voters in his state. Neither of these problems is necessarily decisive for control of the House, but if 2022 ends up being close, a few seats on the margin could make all the difference.

    >@RepJohnKatko announces he will not seek re-election. Another one of the 10 House Rs who voted for impeachment who is calling it quits.

Says it's "so that I can enjoy my family and life in a fuller and more present way" — Catie Edmondson (@Catie Edmondson) 1642178377

The Ohio Supreme Court ruled, 4-3, that the map violated the state’s constitution by drawing the districts to unfairly favor one party over another. Columbus Dispatch reporters Jessie Balmert and Laura A. Bischoff note that the map “could have given Republicans as much as a 12-3 advantage in a state that voted for President Barack Obama and President Donald Trump twice.”

Ohio Supreme Court Justice Michael Donnelly, who was part of the majority opinion, argued, “When the dealer stacks the deck in advance, the house usually wins.”

READ: Here's what it would really mean to prosecute Trump

Now, lawmakers in the Ohio State Legislature, according to Balmert and Bischoff, will have 30 days to “craft a new map.”

The Cook Political Report’s Dave Wasserman, in response to the ruling, tweeted:

Not unexpected, but huge setback for GOP. Dems have potential to net 2-3 more seats out of a revised map.https://twitter.com/jbalmert/status/1482033890705514496 … — Dave Wasserman (@Dave Wasserman) 1642180217
Meanwhile, in New York State, Katko’s decision not to seek another term takes away a GOP candidate who isn’t a polarizing figure among centrist Democrats and swing voters. Katko, who voted to impeach former President Donald Trump following the January 6, 2021 insurrection, is conservative but not extreme.

Not surprisingly, Trump sees Katko’s decision as good news, as he considers the congressman a RINO: Republican in Name Only.

READ: 'To defy Trump's wishes is to defy God's plan': The scary truth about modern right-wing misinformation

But outside of the MAGA bubble, political analysts are saying that Democrats just got some good news in New York State. Two of them are Cook's Wasserman and Kyle Kondik of Sabato's Crystal Ball:

Here are some more reactions to Katko’s announcement:

This. House Rs lost one of their top political talents.

Comes a week after this Politico story:
https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2022...kondik/status/1482033492603068419 … — Josh Kraushaar (@josh Kraushaar) 1642179416 I’m shocked.
