Do you like them? How do you make them? What do you eat with them? Do you make them a different way?

I make mine in a frying pan. I butter and toast both sides of each piece. I’ll usually have it with soup.

I like fancy ones too. There’s a local restaurant that makes it with Brie and fig jam!

Yup...classic Soup & Sandwich Lunch. although I prefer Saltines for Tomato Soup.
But frankly I prefer little oyster crackers you'd get at the diners

Two pieces of Mrs. Baird's bread, low salt butter in a frying pan, and some good old Krafts individually wrapped American Cheese. I like to burn mine just a bit on both sides. I usually eat both of them alone.

I love them - but the only soup I would have with them is tomato soup.

There's also nothing like a good, cheddar-cheesy tuna melt.

Mayo on a tuna melt is the only way to go, perfect crispy texture especially on Italian bread.

I love grill cheese sandwiches though it has been awhile since I had one or made one. Pretty basic when it comes to them (bread, cheese, butter).

I might try it on my Foreman grill tomorrow.

Foreman makes em as good as a cast iron skillet, without the messy clean-up.

True, but the Foreman is travel friendly. (Just so you know, I have 3 c/i skillets and - 1 c/i Dutch oven.) Cast iron needs heat, Foreman makes its own.

Gruyere (with ham and/or pickles), Fontina, or Gouda are all yummy. American is great (especially with tomato soup), but NEVER the individually-wrapped plasticky crap that pretends to be cheese. You MUST use good bread, and change it up once in a while (rye is great).

The only thing we ever eat with grilled cheese is soup, salad, or fries, but my neighbors eat mac & cheese with it. I think that’s bizarre!

My kids like to tear up a well-done (crispy) grilled cheese sandwich and use it as "croutons" in a bowl of soup!

There's a cheese and sausage shop nearby that opened up a restaurant on the other side of the store. It's always packed. My favorite thing there is the grilled cheese. You can get up to 4 different cheeses in it. And they serve it with a pickle and homemade potato chips. It's the bomb. I recently tried the cheesy Joe - a grilled cheese with sloppy Joe meat in it. I was kind of disappointed. I guess I just really enjoy a grilled cheese with nothing but cheese in it.

I've also had a grilled cheese at the state fair with pickles in it. It was delicious!

I believe in the pure grilled cheese, and attempts to change it too much don't work for me - it takes you into a different sandwich realm than the grilled cheese.

BUT - adding bacon is KILLER!

    PS: That pickle? No thanks.

had one today at Panxxa, not great. Bread too thick, too much cheese...and not toasted enough as usual when you buy. Price is too high and they do everything they can to try to make the sandwich look worth it

I know it seems like more cheese is a good thing, but too much is gross. There needs to be a good ratio of cheese to bread

Grilled cheese with tomato is my go to comfort sandwich. I have no patience when it comes to making a grilled cheese sandwich. I’m always in too much of a rush and squash it down with the spatula, making it come out flat and mushy. My wife on the other hand has the patience of a saint. She makes a crispy, light and fluffy sandwich. I love my cheese

    Do do do

I have one of those fancy waffle iron type of machines for sandwiches. I occasionally make them for breakfast. Just simple cheddar between two slices of bread.
