  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

Serious question from a biker. I was always curious, has loud pipes ever saved your life or is it an excuse because you like the sound? I run stock exhaust on my bike, so it's not overly loud.

I've tried, but short of changing the exhaust, it just sounds like an angry bee.

Oh sure! I ride a 2015 GSXR 1300 Hayabusa, with a Yoshimura 4 into 1, which is race track loud. If you can't hear me, your are legally deaf.

Probably so. I had LOUD pipes. What saved my life was selling that murder bike and only driving in cages from now on.

Had an incident with a guy with loud pipes parked his bike on the sidewalk next to the entry to a sandwich shop. When I came out it was idling, I told him the gas fumes were getting into the shop. He thought it would be cool to rev the bike and spin out off the curb and clip my ankle on his way.
    Cops never caught the SOB.

I still walk with a cane.

The initial injury healed. But now I have a chronic case of gout. I'm sure everyone's heard the jokes about gout and the weather. Well, I'm here to tell you it's true. changes in temperature or other conditions make my foot swell and ache.
Bikers demand that drivers watch out for them on the road, but then they figure it's their right to ride their machines on areas designated for pedestrians and don't give the pedestrians the same courtesy they want from drivers of cars.

I know that...problem is, that because of the incident, I have no way of knowing. Consequentially I end up flinching and moving away instinctively when I hear a bike rev.

understand that. Like everything there are pros and cons, we all go though ups and downs, all we can really do is make the best of what we got.
Hope things stay on the positive side for ya.

It's definitely easier to hear when you have someone coming up behind in the car if they have loud pipes.

I don’t like motorcycles but I have a valid reason. I worked weekend nights in CT scan at a level 1 trauma center years ago. I’ve seen it all. It’s almost never the motorcycle driver’s fault. I say the louder the better.

    In my experience,
Deer will not step out into the roadway in front of you if they hear you coming.
Disengage the clutch, twist the throttle hard to get their attention and they will evade the motorcycle every time.

Floaties, always wear your floaties, even if the pipes don't burst. Horrible what happened in Europe with all the floods. Who needs whitewater rafting when you got floaties?

Whatever you have to do to make other drivers aware of your presence when riding a bike, more power to you. For the idiots running around in their rice burner 4 cylinder cars, your custom loud exhaust and rear spoiler add-on don’t impress.

The Yoshi pipe on my FZ was plenty loud. The Sportster had a stock pipe, also rather chatty.

Not great when you’re leaving for work early in the morning. :/

I used to have a Panhead with Yaffe Crack Pipes and yes one day they did save my ass, I was at an intersection waiting for the light when the brain dead kid behind me was on his phone and started rolling forward, before he hit me I rolled on the throttle and scared the shit out of the little pussy making him realize what was happening. He did apologize and all of that after I was yelling at him for several minutes just as loud as the pipes had been and the kid started crying. The light changed and I just rode off leaving that loser sitting in his car rethinking his every move that day.
BTW these are the crack pipes.

Many times, clutch in twist the wick, have had trucks get back in the lane they were coming out of, didn't see me in the blind spot, but he heard me.
Whenever I see those shining eyes on the side of the road, clutch in, brake down, twisting the wick, deer run away from that growl, I stay behind em, cracking it, no natter how slow, but they move away from the sound, only get that back and forth if you got game fences on both sides, they can't get over, that's why you stay behind them.
