  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

Who is your hero? Someone who has inspired you or impressed you, living or dead, famous or unknown. An athlete, celebrity, scientist, historical figure, relative, or whoever. Who would you love to meet and talk to, and why?

I have always admired Josephine Baker, the jazz performer. Born in 1908 (on my birthday!) she was a famous American celebrity living in France who also worked for the French resistance during WW2. She became a spy against the Nazis, smuggling intelligence and documents, earning her 2 military medals, one never having been awarded to an American woman before. She was also a civil rights activist, she adopted 12 children, was openly bi-sexual, and was celebrated for her beauty and talent. Josephine was a fearless, strong, sexy, kick ass woman who made a difference and fought for justice her entire life.

I enjoyed the HBO (I think) documentary on her in the early '90's.

Audie Murphy. When I read his story in high school, I couldn’t believe someone a couple years older than me was that bad ass. His whole childhood was stacked against him, goes to WW2, after the military didn’t want him, and becomes a hero.

And people think life’s a struggle today. Smh

The man truly was amazing. I wish people today looked up to people like him, instead of celebrities.

It’s well worth the read. You’ll be astounded by the heroism in the war, and he became an actor in Hollywood later.

I am a sucker for war documentaries. I love hearing about the bravery and heroism of ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances.

One of the most dec0rated of all WWII American soldiers, including the Congressional Medal of Honor. While not a Laurence Olivier, he acquitted himself well as a movie hero.

Since we can all have more than one hero, I want to talk about my mom. She immigrated to Canada from extreme poverty in Hungary without knowing any English. She went on to become a beauty pageant queen, model, and hair salon owner. She met my dad who proposed to her on their second date (she didn’t accept until their fifth date lol). But more importantly, she was gracious and kind and strong. She defeated cancer 3 times until she finally passed away 5 years ago from a heart condition. She was the loveliest woman you could ever hope to meet and she would help anyone who needed it, always. I hope I take after her even just a little bit.

My parents and grandparents of course, they worked their asses off just to feed their families and make a better life. We never alot but it was all earned honestly, they never asked for help from others but would help anyone. And while we were never really religious they did teach us to good people.

My mom,she had to overcome so much growing up. When she was five years old she had Spinal meningitis and almost died. By the time she was thirteen both of her parents had died leaving five children orphans.
She went to live with her aunt and uncle who were very strict. She left school and lied about her age to work
She met my father and got married. She had a miscarriage that ended up where she wasn't able to have any children. They finally became foster parents and adopted their kids. When she had good heath she was the best cook, and could sew just about anything,There wasn't much she couldn't do. In 2002 she passed away
    do to complications of diabetes.

I admire various ppl for various reasons... Do I consider them Heroic... Nope...

Hero is a word/term used far to much these days.... A person stops a robbery he/she is a hero... Police/Fire fighters/ Military... They are all Heros... Sorry... I guess I have a higher standard...

Doing ones jobs... Doing ones civic duty is not.. in my book... Heroic...

    Let the FLAMING begin.....

I'm not sure about hero - i think that term is bandied around a bit too readily these days - but Winston Churchill - pretty much most of the western world owes so much to his spirit and motivational skills - to virtually drag the UK through the darkest depths of WW2 - he for me is almost a hero.

My mum comes so close to being a hero too - still alive - and doing all sorts of whacky shit for charity - abseiling off cliffs - 15,000 foot parachute jump on her 80th birthday was pretty special - despite the fact she hates heights - I'd say yep my mum was a true inspiration
