I see two things here. One is the DOJ can be very preservative when it comes to flipping people. But it is also proof of something else ThornyRose identified years ago right on this forum. He researched that Republicans in Congress were paying literally thousands of PR firms with taxpayer dollars. ThornyRose went on to show that the bulk of those PR firms were actually owned by family and friends of Republican Congress members. But since it would look very bad for a congressman to be paying his kids for PR with taxpayer money the solution was to get another member of congress to employ their family and friends and then they could turn around and repay the favor by hiring some of their friends family. That is how it worked and it hasn't changed. Gaetz didn't employ escort he was fucking. He got someone else to do it for him.

Federal investigators are reportedly trying to interview two key witnesses as they continue to gather evidence for their investigation into Congressman Matt Gaetz’s (R-FL) alleged sex trafficking.

For weeks, Gaetz has been under a political firestorm amid accusations of child sex trafficking, soliciting sex with a minor, and other acts of alleged misbehavior. As the Justice Department considers the evidence against Gaetz and the charges they might bring against him, CNN reports that investigators are seeking the cooperation of a former Capitol Hill intern who once dated the congressman.

The report says the woman did not work in Gaetz’s office, but she was on a trip Gaetz took to the Bahamas 3 years ago, and investigators think she could have insight into the congressman’s alleged drug use and payments to women for sex. CNN says she “was also involved in some of the financial transactions that the FBI has obtained” in connection to the Gaetz case.

The other person of interest is Joel Greenberg, a former Seminole County tax collector who has been intertwined with the Gaetz allegations even as he faces his own minor sex trafficking indictment. There has been speculation about whether Greenberg would flip on Gaetz, especially after his lawyer heavily suggested as much while speaking to reporters a month ago. Greenberg’s cooperation could be an even greater development now, following a recent report saying he wrote a letter to Roger Stone admitting he and Gaetz paid for sex with underage women.

It started when Gaetz resurfaced a months-old tweet from Kinzinger backing Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) ahead of her expected ousting from her GOP House leadership role this week. Gaetz quote-tweeted Kinzinger’s Cheney support with the barb: “Tweets that don’t age well.” Ten minutes later, Kinzinger shot back: “I’d stay away from ‘aging well’ tweets.” Gaetz is under investigation over allegations involving sex-trafficking and prostitution, including an alleged relationship with a 17-year-old. The Florida congressman has denied the allegations against him.

Multiple women have told the Daily Beast that Joel Greenberg, the former "wingman" of scandal-plagued Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), pressured them into sex after giving them money and drugs.

Although none of the women are claiming that Greenberg sexually assaulted them, one woman tells the publication that Greenberg "plied" her into sex by giving her "an endless supply of drugs."

""I was under the influence of so many drugs," the woman recounted to the Daily Beast. "I wasn't really in a position to say I didn't want to do this. I wasn't in my right mind. I was in over my head and it was kind of scary."

Three other women similarly described Greenberg inviting them to a meetup that featured several "well connected Republicans" and "a huge pile of coke" in which he pressured the women for sex that they ultimately refused.

Greenberg, a longtime Gaetz associate who was arrested last year, is currently facing the prospect of years in prison thanks to a long list of criminal charges including sex trafficking, stalking a political opponent, making fake IDs, bribing a political official, and wire fraud."

A Florida politician associated with Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) is expected to plead guilty in a federal case, signaling that prosecutors may have gotten him to cooperate in their sex trafficking case against the GOP lawmaker.

Joel Greenberg, a former tax collector for Seminole County, has been discussing with prosecutors for months how he and Gaetz would pay women for sex using cash or gifts, which the lawmaker denies, but a court filing Thursday suggests that Greenberg has secured the plea agreement he had sought.

A change of plea hearing was scheduled for Monday, although it's not clear what charges Greenberg might admit to or how the pleading might benefit him.

But legal experts speculate what the development might mean for Gaetz, based on publicly available details in the case and their own experience, while others just relished the thought of the Florida congressman finding himself in hot water.

If Greenberg is signing a cooperation agreement, as some reports indicate, that would ordinarily mean that prosecutors will use him as a witness in additional cases, and that they feel comfortable that they have sufficient corroboration to overcome his deficiencies as a witness.

Matt is in a tough spot. He now has to claim his old wing man cannot be trusted.

This brings up the immediate question, "Did you trust him when you sent money to him, which you expected him to send to your girlfriend?"

It's the Bigger Fish Paradox, sometimes called the Trumper's Dilemma. The only reason the smaller fish know so much is because you trusted them. It makes it difficult to discredit them later.

 

This is very bad news for Gaetz. They would not be offering Greenberg a plea bargain unless he can provide evidence against other people. And if he's pleading guilty to sex trafficking that is what he is going to finger Gaetz as well.

Former Florida county tax collector Joel Greenberg, Rep. Matt Gaetz’s (R-FL) indicted associate, will plead guilty to six felony counts including sex trafficking when he changes his plea at his hearing on Monday, according to Business Insider.

The other counts Greenberg is expected to plead guilty to also reportedly include identify theft and wire fraud.

The Justice Department had hit the former official with 33 criminal charges, including sex trafficking of a minor between 14 and 17 years old, bribery, and theft of government property.

That could spell trouble for Gaetz, who is reportedly under federal investigation for possibly sex trafficking a minor. In a confession letter Greenberg reportedly wrote to Roger Stone that was subsequently obtained by the Daily Beast, the ex-tax collector claimed Gaetz paid for sex with the same minor in his criminal case.

Fritz Scheller, Greenberg’s attorney, told reporters last month after a hearing with his client that “I’m sure Matt Gaetz is not feeling very comfortable today.”

The New York Times reported last month that Greenberg has been cooperating with investigators in the Gaetz probe.

The GOP lawmaker has denied all allegations of wrongdoing.

Gaetz spokesperson Harlan Hill told the Washington Post on Thursday that “The first indictment of Joel Greenberg alleges that he falsely accused another man of sex with a minor for his own gain. That man was apparently innocent. So is Congressman Gaetz.”

This as predictable as sundown.

The man who Matt Gaetz trusted with thousands of dollars to pass on to his girlfriends, now cannot be trusted.

I still think the sex with minors is a smoke screen to keep Gaetz distracted. Gaetz is adamant that he never had sex with the woman in question before her 18th birthday. That might be correct, which is why he keeps repeating it. He hasn't mentioned Greenberg's fake ID operation, of which he had knowledge, but never reported.

There are still some surprises for Matt.

 

I am not so sure. There is still the letter Greenberg sent to Roger Stone confessing he and Gaetz had sex with the minor. And the reason I think that is credible because it does look like a last ditch attempt to get Stone to tell Trump he needed a pardon or else.

There is also a new statement that Greenberg introduced the minor to other prominent men for sex.

 

Joel Greenberg's Plea Agreement Released-A Summary


The plea agreement with Joel Greenberg has been released. Greenberg will plead guilty to six of the 33 charges against him. As part of the deal the prosecutors agree to not prosecute the remaining 27. Greenberg agrees to fully cooperate in every way with prosecutors, to include testifying against others in trial if necessary. That the prosecution gave up so much strongly suggests Greenberg has 1) a lot to offer by his cooperation with the prosecution, that 2) includes "big fish."

Greenberg pleads guilty to the following charges:

1. Sex trafficking of a child, more on that later but this carries a ten year minimum sentence.

2. Production of false IDs. These were often used in conjunction with the sex trafficking to provide fake identification for the women. He used his official position as county tax assessor, with access to Florida driver's license data, to do this.

3. Aggravated identity theft.

4. Wire fraud. Greenberg used his tax assessor office funds as a source of capital to buy cryptocurrencies and then profit when they increased in sales. He then told a web of lies and created false documentation to conceal his fraud from county auditors.

5. Stalking. Greenberg targeted a man running against him with social media attacks. Greenberg set up fake accounts pretending to be the man and posting white supremacist material. He also created fake accounts of alleged victims of the man where the fake accounts said the man (a teacher) raped students.

6. Conspiracies against the United States. Greenberg worked with an SBA employee, and another person identified only as "Recruiter Conspirator" to fraudulently exploit loan and grant applications for small businesses intended as Covid relief.

You can read the details of this starting on p. 28 of the linked agreement. I'll give a summary.

Greenberg admits to paying for "commercial sex acts" using four different accounts that included a Venmo account and his American Express Account for the Tax Assessor's office. He did this to procure sex for himself and what the agreement simply describes as "other men."

Sometimes Greenberg falsely indicated that the payments to the women were for other purposes such as school, food and ice cream. It should be noted that media accounts claim Venmo accounts for Matt Gaetz similarly have payments to women for "school."

One of the women was an underage minor. Greenberg had sex with her at least seven times. In addition, Greenberg admits:

• He introduced the minor to "other adult men, who engaged in commercial sex acts" with her.
  
• That these other men "engaged in commercial sex acts with the minor in Greenberg's presence." We call that an "eyewitness."

Greenberg also admits that after his arrest he contacted the minor and asked her to lie on his behalf and "for help in making sure their stories would line up." Accordingly, they could have charged him with witness tampering, but as part of this deal they won't. The real significance of this is that it indicates the young woman involved is also cooperating.
