This is proof of both Trump's attempted coup and his literal and clinical mental illness. This is supposed to be the POTUS speaking to the VP and Trump's talking like a fourth grader.

Book says Trump threatened Pence over Jan. 6: 'I don't want to be your friend anymore'

Former President Donald Trump threatened to end his friendship with Mike Pence on Jan. 5 unless the then-vice president refused to certify Joe Biden's 2020 presidential election victory.

The incident was revealed in "Peril," a new book by journalists Bob Woodward and Robert Costa. Details of the book were obtained by CNN.

The book "describes the tense encounter in the Oval Office on January 5 when Trump pressured Pence to overturn the results of the election," CNN reported. "While the showdown went on inside, the two men could hear MAGA supporters cheering and chanting outside near Pennsylvania Avenue."

"If these people say you had the power, wouldn't you want to?" Trump asked Pence.

"I wouldn't want any one person to have that authority," the vice president replied.

"But wouldn't it be almost cool to have that power?" Trump pressed.

"No," Pence insisted. "I've done everything I could and then some to find a way around this. It's simply not possible."

"No, no, no!" Trump reportedly shouted. "You don't understand, Mike. You can do this. I don't want to be your friend anymore if you don't do this."

The authors said that Trump tried again to convince Pence on the morning of Jan. 6.

"If you don't do it, I picked the wrong man four years ago," the president charged. "You're going to wimp out."

Later that day, Trump incited a riotous attack on the U.S. Capitol but it failed to prevent Pence and Congress from certifying Biden's victory.

I'm wondering if they will have a "shoot first, ask questions second" policy for the Capitol police? There should be no nonsense tolerated in the slightest. Don't give them the chance to test the system. Because this is a coordinated event, there should be no room for them to act. One incident might be a distraction for something else.

Trump and his campaign must be in on this because they are banning participants from wearing anything with Trump on it. Which shows how running scared they really are.

'I have found lies and fraud!' Minnesota MAGA rioter tries acting as his own lawyer — and it doesn't go well

    Rioters January 6th (AFP)

On Tuesday, NBC4 Washington's Scott MacFarlane, a leading reporter covering the trials of the January 6 Capitol attack defendants, reported on the saga of a Minnesota Capitol rioter who decided to represent himself in court — without much luck.

"Brian Mock ... is accused of assaulting police January 6th," said MacFarlane. "He's pleaded not guilty, but is serving time in pre-trial detention. 100 days so far, he says, many of them most recently at the D.C. jail. Told the judge today he wants to represent himself. He says, quote, about the feds, 'I have found flat-out lies and fraud. That's not me being crazy or extreme.' And he asked the judge today to re-open his detention hearing."

The judge, however, told him that he would have to file a new motion for a bond review, which MacFarlane described as "something a lawyer could have instructed Mock about before today's hearing."

Multiple Capitol rioters have reportedly sought to act as their own attorneys, with poor results.

Eric Bochene, an accused rioter from upstate New York, is trying to bill a federal court for his own services as an attorney, including $10,000 per court appearance and a fine of $5 million if he is forced to give "bodily fluids" against his will. And Pauline Bauer, a so-called "sovereign citizen" who demanded House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) be hanged, has shouted at the judge in her case and demanded authorities "drop all charges against my VESSEL."

According to a new poll from PRRI, the majority of Americans place blame for the capitol riots of January 6th on white supremacist groups, former President Donald Trump, and conservative media outlets, meanwhile, the data shows that strong partisan divides continue to persist.

The poll released Wednesday finds that majorities of the American general public believe that all of these factors shoulder a vast amount of responsibility for the actions of rioters who stormed the U.S. Capitol on January 6th.

59 percent of Americans say white supremacist groups bear responsibility for the riot, while 56 percent say Donald Trump, and 55 percent say conservative media outlets also played a part in inciting by spreading misinformation.

However, the poll includes data that points to the current partisan divide of opinions within the American public.

Republicans assigned culpability in a drastically different way than most Americans, with only 30 percent holding white supremacist groups responsible and 27 percent placing blame on conservative media platforms.

Only 15 percent of Republicans believe that Trump bears a large amount of responsibility for the events of January 6th.

According to the survey, “Republicans’ blame attributions vary by which media sources they trust most to provide accurate information about politics and current events.”

Of those who trust Fox News and conservative outlets, such as Newsmax and One America News Network, only 3 percent say that Trump bears a lot of the blame for the riot.

Furthermore, Fox News viewers are more likely than far-right news viewers to place blame on white supremacist groups at 25 percent and 17 percent, respectively. 21 percent of Fox News viewers blame conservative media outlets that spread conspiracy theories, while only 15 percent of far-right news viewers do the same.

Far-right news viewers are also more likely to, “falsely assert that a lot of blame goes to liberal or left-wing activists for the violent attack on the U.S. Capitol, though both groups overwhelmingly hold this view.”

By contrast, 89 percent of Democrats assign a large amount of responsibility to Trump, 83 percent to white supremacist groups, and 78 percent to conservative media platforms spreading misinformation.

Trump lawyer wrote a six-point plan for Mike Pence to overturn the 2020 election: Woodward book

A lawyer working with former President Donald Trump's election legal team worked behind the scenes with former Vice President Mike Pence to create ways he could overturn the 2020 election.

The new book Peril by reporters Bob Woodward and Robert Costa has revealed that there was a six-stage plan in a two-page memo showing Pence how to subvert the Constitution and invalidate the 2020 election, CNN reported.

The book, which comes out Tuesday, cited lawyer John Eastman's guide that was sent to top Republican Trump allies like Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), while Rudy Giuliani targeted Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) to argue the case. Graham laughed at him, Woodward and Costa write.

"You might as well make your case to Queen Elizabeth II. Congress can't do this. You're wasting your time," Lee told Trump's lawyer.

The plan was that Pence would throw out the election results in seven states that Biden won because there were "competing electors." There weren't actually any competing electors from any of the states, as the New York Times reported in December. There were attempts in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Nevada and Michigan but none of the efforts worked.

"A group of people who gather in a room and claim they are electors, as state-party-backed Republicans did in a few states on Monday, have no more authority than if the people reading this article decided that they, too, wanted to be members of the Electoral College," said the Times.

There was an effort to do that in Michigan, but Republican Senate Majority Mike Shirkey refused.

"Michigan law does not include a provision for the Legislature to directly select electors or to award electors to anyone other than the person who received the most votes," his spokesperson said in a statement at the time.

The plot from Eastman would have Pence declare Trump the winner after those states were thrown out. He would then say that no candidates reached 270 votes and he would then throw the election to the House of Representatives, where each state would get a vote. Since Republicans control 26 state delegations they would hand the election to Trump.

Eastman pitched the plan to Pence in the Oval Office on Jan. 4 with Trump.

"You really need to listen to John. He's a respected constitutional scholar. Hear him out," Trump said to Pence.

"The main thing here is that Pence should do this without asking for permission -- either from a vote of the joint session or from the Court," Eastman wrote. "The fact is that the Constitution assigns this power to the Vice President as the ultimate arbiter. We should take all of our actions with that in mind."

Pence obviously didn't go through with it. He instead reached out to former Vice President Dan Quayle, who told him that there was no room for him to overturn the election.

It never ceases to amaze me that whole Trump can't "seduce" everyone into doing his bidding, he's able to find enough lackeys to further his agenda, at least partially. He was able to convince many people that his lies about a stolen election were at least true enough to push.

Why legal experts are so disturbed by a Trump lawyer's 6-point plan to overturn the 2020 election

President Donald Trump. (AFP / Jim WATSON)

A new CNN report on Monday revealed a memo from a lawyer working with former President Donald Trump that detailed a plan to overturn his loss to Joe Biden on Jan. 6. The report reveals findings from the new book, "Peril," by reporters Bob Woodward and Robert Costa.

It included a copy of the memo from conservative law professor John Eastman, showing a six-point plan to leverage then-Vice President Mike Pence's role as the president of the Senate to control Congress's vote counting and throw out the votes of seven states.

This would leave Trump in the lead with 232 Electoral College votes over Biden's 228. Then, according to Eastman, Democrats would let out "howls." (The whole memo shows open contempt for Democrats.) But if they object, he argued, Pence could declare the election inconclusive, at which point it would move into the House. And because Republicans control a majority of the House delegations, they could select Trump to carry out a second term.

"The main thing here is that Pence should do this without asking for permission – either from a vote of the joint session [of Congress] or from the Court," the memo said. "The fact is that the Constitution assigns this power to the Vice President as the ultimate arbiter. We should take all of our actions with that in mind."

Pence, of course, ultimately disagreed with these arguments and refused Trump's pleas to carry out the plan. And despite the insurrection carried out by Trump's followers on the Capitol that day, Pence fulfilled his role as expected, and Congress counted all the Electoral Votes as they were actually awarded, affirming Biden as the winner.

But even though the plan failed, the document remains a disturbing record of the time. It's impossible to know what would have happened if Pence had tried to go along with the plan — there might've been outrage and chaos in the streets, just as there were outbursts of celebration when Biden was declared the winner in November 2020. But if the vice president could just throw out the votes of states he didn't like, it would indisputably be the end of democracy in the United States.

Many legal experts found the document chilling, deeply disturbing, and absurd.

"This 'plan' is laughable, but we shouldn't laugh,"
said conservative lawyer David French. "If carried out, it would have led to the country's greatest political crisis since April 1861. And Eastman was no mere internet crank. He was a law professor and close to POTUS in the final days."

Steve Vladeck, a law professor at the University of Texas, agreed: "This memo is horrifying. As is the fact that it was written by a (former) law professor. As is the reporting that Pence agonized over the matter. As is so much else about how close we came to a coup (fine — an autogolpe) on 1/6. As is how little we're doing to respond to it."

Asha Rangappa, who teaches at Yale Law School, called the memo a "sinister plan" that would let "Trump to unconstitutionally grab and hold on to power." She added: "Note, by the way, that he's pretty confident the R's would go along with it until then end."

However, the CNN report notes that GOP Sen. Mike Lee of Utah, was a staunch opponent of the plan when it was presented to him.

"It was a dress rehearsal," said Rick Hasen, a prominent expert in election law. "Here's how to do the coup next time, with more loyalists in key places." Hasen argued that there are various ways lawmakers could strengthen our elections against such attempts at subversion, including reform of the Electoral Count Act.

BUSTED: Steve Bannon admits he helped plot Jan. 6 Trump rally to 'kill Biden presidency in the crib'

    Real America's Voice/screen grab

Conservative broadcaster Steve Bannon admitted on Wednesday that he had plotted with President Donald Trump to "kill the Biden presidency in the crib" ahead of the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

During his Warroom broadcast, Bannon played clips of journalist Robert Costa and Bob Woodward explaining how events unfolded prior to the Jan. 6 riot.

"You look at January 5th, we discovered that Steve Bannon, the former White House strategist, was there at the Willard Hotel blocks from the White House with Rudy Giuliani, having an almost war-room-type meeting with other Trump allies the eve before the January 6th insurrection," Costa recently explained to MSNBC. "And Bannon had actually been in close touch with President Trump for days before January 6th. Based on our reporting, he privately told President Trump to have a reckoning on January 6th. And he said to the president, it's time to kill the Biden presidency in the crib."

Bannon seemed proud to confirm that the conversation had taken place.

"Yeah, because his legitimacy," Bannon said of Biden. "42% of the American people think that Biden did not win the presidency legitimately."

"It killed itself," he continued. "Just look at what this illegitimate regime is doing. It killed itself. OK? But we told you from the very beginning, just expose it, just expose it, never back down, never give up and this thing will implode."

If nothing else it shows that this was preplanned from the start. Trump had every intention of stealing this election. He already told us that he believes the only way he could lose was it the election was stolen, when he really meant the only way he could win is it he stole the election.

Did you ever wonder how the onslaught happened so quickly? Its because they had corrupt treasonous conservative/Republicans in Congress, state legislatures, as well as his lawyers all lined up to steal the election from the beginning because they thought Trump would lose but it would be close. And when they screamed voter fraud people might believe them. But the problem was it wasn't even close. Biden won too many votes and electoral votes. So the sane ones threw in the towel and told Trump not to even try it. But Trump is mentally ill and couldn't accept the reality so he brought in the clown car and tried it anyway. And when that failed they tried a violent insurrection and attempted coup.

I use treasonous conservative/Republicans a lot but not lightly. They really did commit treason and try to make Trump a dictator for life.

‘Don’t Want to Say, But Her Initials Are Marjorie Taylor Greene’: Democrat Rep. Maloney Explains Who Was ‘The Gleeful Republican’ During Jan. 6 Riot
    By Jackson RichmanSep 23rd, 2021, 4:55 pm

On MSNBC’s Deadline: White House on Thursday, Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY) called out Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) by name for being, what host Nicole Wallace called, “the gleeful Republican” during the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

    Maloney said:

Let’s just get the facts, right? I don’t think we need to get ahead of ourselves. But look, I was there, I was on the House floor, I was at that undisclosed location with a bunch of Republicans who were – one in particular who was gleeful at what was transpiring outside. It took me a minute to understand why she was having such a good time. But I saw it. I saw it with her staff who caught up with her. They were excited about what was going on. They had been at the White House, I believe, the day before talking about what was going to happen. I mean, it’s not really a mystery when Mo Brooks is down at the rally, whipping up the crowd and pointing them towards the capitol, I believe, with a bulletproof vest on.

So, look, you’re right, a lot of this is right out in the open. But I do think it matters that we know exactly what Kevin McCarthy was doing, exactly what Jim Jordan was doing and others who were in communication with the president that day. Because what he knew, when he knew it, whether he failed to take action to respond, meaning to het help to the Capitol, whether he delayed that action. Those are very important facts. And history should know them and we should know them. And I think it matters. So let’s just get the truth.

Wallace asked him, “Who was the gleeful Republican member of Congress.”

“I don’t want to say, but her initials are Marjorie Taylor Greene,” replied Maloney, causing Wallace to laugh.
