Russian state TV reporter Denis Davydov this week delivered a conspiracy-filled special about the anniversary of the Capitol riots in which he singled out Lt. Michael Byrd, the Capitol Police officer who fatally shot Ashli Babbitt.

The Daily Beast reports that Davydov's "reporting" on the January 6th riots was filled with false conspiracy theories about the insurrection being a "false flag" operation.

“It is believed that Jan. 6 was a planned attack by the FBI and radical Democrats," he asked Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) at one point. "Are you investigating this?"

Raskin responded simply by saying, "Give my regards to Vladimir Putin."



Elsewhere in his broadcast, Davydov discussed Byrd's shooting of Babbitt and described him as "the black policeman who pulled the trigger, but was never punished for shooting an unarmed person."

In fact, Byrd shot Babbitt as she was trying to break into the congressional chamber and he was found to have been justified in his decision to employ deadly force.

John Sullivan: Antifa, journalist or criminal? The story of the man who filmed Ashli Babbitt’s death

Sullivan, by his own admission, was in the middle of several protests and riots throughout the summer and fall of 2020, culminating in the Capitol insurrection in January 2021. But, unlike most demonstrators, Sullivan wasn’t there in support of former President Donald Trump; he wasn’t there as an agitator, either, he claims. But, the self-proclaimed “activist-slash-journalist”— who, according to his YouTube channel, captured extensive footage from that day — faces federal charges stemming from his alleged role in the Capitol riot.

Sullivan’s actions on Jan. 6 leave a trail of questions. The charges he faces are criminal: civil disorder, unlawful entry of restricted areas and obstruction of an official proceeding, among others. Trump allies — Rudy Giuliani, most notably — have pointed to him as evidence that antifa and other left-wing activists, not Trump supporters, helped spearhead violence at the Capitol.

Now, he says, he wants his money back.

The 27-year-old Utahn sold rights to his video from Jan. 6, including an up-close look at Trump supporter Ashli Babbitt as she was shot, to NBC, CNN and other news outlets for more than $90,000. And the full video he took is still available on YouTube. But Sullivan tells me the money is gone — federal authorities deemed Sullivan’s actions to obtain the footage illegal and confiscated the cash from his bank account.

“Do you think it’s easy to sell that footage?” Sullivan asked, toward the end of an hourlong conversation. “Do you think anyone can get ‘90K’ for that?” He says his actions at the Capitol — pushing his way through the hallways with the mob and exclaiming “let’s burn this (expletive) down” in his video — were part of his journalism. Sullivan, however, was not credentialed or representing any publication.

Organizer of Provo protest arrested, accused of rioting, making threats

One of the organizers of a protest in Provo that resulted in a motorist being shot was arrested on Thursday.

John Earle Sullivan, 25, of Sandy, was booked into the Utah County Jail for investigation of rioting, making a threat of violence and criminal mischief.

On June 29, a group calling itself Back to Blue planned to drive around the Provo Police Department and honk their horns to show support for law enforcement.

Another group planned a counterprotest at the same time and place. On Facebook, its event page was originally titled End Police Brutality but was later changed to Marching for Racial Equality. The Facebook pages listed the event’s hosts as the groups Insurgence, Solidarity for Justice, Salt Lake Equal Rights Movement and the Salt Lake Antifascist Coalition.

Videos Shed Light on Death of Rosanne Boyland at US Capitol on Jan. 6

Newly released video from the West Terrace tunnel of the U.S. Capitol provides more details on the collapse, beating, and death of Rosanne Boyland on Jan. 6, 2021.

A three-hour video unsealed in late December in a Jan. 6 federal criminal case shows the 34-year-old President Donald Trump supporter entered the tunnel, was pushed back out, fell, and was struck by police before her lifeless body was dragged into the Capitol.

Boyland’s sister and a New York attorney question the District of Columbia medical examiner’s finding that Boyland died of an overdose of a prescription medication she took for attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Boyland, from Kennesaw, Ga., traveled to Washington D.C. for the Save America rally at the Ellipse on Jan. 6. She is seen on video entering the Capitol tunnel, walking next to conservative activist Philip Anderson. Bystanders continue filing in toward the double doors leading into the Capitol.

DOJ to Launch a Domestic Terrorism Unit to Combat Rising Tide

The Justice Department announced it would form a special unit dedicated to domestic terrorism due to the growing threat over the last few years, the head of its national security division told Congress Tuesday. “This group of dedicated attorneys will focus on the domestic terrorism threat, helping to ensure that these cases are handled properly and effectively coordinated across the Department of Justice and across the country,” Matt Olsen told the Senate Judiciary Committee, as first reported by The Washington Post. Olsen said FBI investigations into domestic terror threats have more than doubled since early 2020, and he hopes the new unit will “augment” the existing infrastructure made up of counterterrorism attorneys. The announcement comes days after the one-year anniversary of the Jan. 6 riot, with Tuesday’s Senate hearing often consumed by partisan outlooks on the failed insurrection.

DOJ taking ‘standard approach’ of prosecuting low-level Jan. 6 offenders before going after ‘kingpins’: report

The Department of Justice of Tuesday revealed the basic prosecutorial strategy being employed to investigate the role of "kingpins" in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

The strategy was revealed during testimony from Assistant Attorney General Matt Olsen before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Democrat Sheldon Whitehouse, who served as U.S. Attorney for Rhode Island and the state's attorney general, directed his questions at the prosecutorial strategy.

"Mr. Olson, with respect to the Jan. 6 assault, will the Department of Justice follow the evidence upstream to funders, organizers, and instigators not present at the Capitol assault if justified?" Whitehouse asked. "Or put another way, does have the Department of Justice have any policy or reticence not to the follow the evidence regarding upstream funders, organizers, and instigators."



"Senator, as the attorney general discussed last week in his speech, the department will follow the evidence wherever it leads and that's consistent with the direction that I have in my role as head of the national security division," Olsen replied.

Whitehouse got Olsen to acknowledge the department was looking at low-level actors first.

"In fact, I began my career as a federal prosecutor here in Washington, DC and that is the standard approach that's taken in all manner of large conspiracy cases," he explained.

"And it's customary to do that first, in order to obtain further evidence against upstream organizers or kingpins?" Whitehouse asked.

"Correct," Olsen replied.

"The department is following that standard with respect to the Jan. 6 investigation?" Whitehouse asked.

"That's correct," Olsen replied.

FBI arrests Oath Keepers leader on Jan. 6 charges


Federal prosecutors have charged the founder of the Oath Keepers and 10 other members of the far-right group with seditious conspiracy for their role in the Jan. 6 riot, the Justice Department announced Thursday.

Stewart Rhodes, 56, was arrested Thursday in Little Elm, Texas, and also faces charges for crimes related to the breach of the U.S. Capitol.

The Oath Keepers leader and founder has said he was present at the riot but never entered the Capitol on Jan. 6.

“The seditious conspiracy indictment alleges that, following the Nov. 3, 2020, presidential election, Rhodes conspired with his co-defendants and others to oppose by force the execution of the laws governing the transfer of presidential power by Jan. 20, 2021,” DOJ wrote in a release.

“Beginning in late December 2020, via encrypted and private communications applications, Rhodes and various co-conspirators coordinated and planned to travel to Washington, D.C., on or around Jan. 6, 2021, the date of the certification of the electoral college vote, the indictment alleges. Rhodes and several co-conspirators made plans to bring weapons to the area to support the operation. The co-conspirators then traveled across the country to the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area in early January 2021.”
