Joe Biden Ends 2021 with Terrible New Year’s Eve Headlines

The year 2021 has ended with terrible news headlines for the Biden administration after months of failed governance.

While January saw glowing headlines for the incoming administration, President Joe Biden generated a series of negative headlines throughout 2021 that culminated in multiple headlines about subdued New Year’s Eve celebrations over omicron fears.

“New Year’s Eve Celebrations Muted Once Again by Covid-19,” the Wall Street Journal‘s homepage reminded its readers of Biden’s inability to shut down the virus after holding office for 11 months.

The Washington Post posted atop its homepage on New Year’s Eve morning an article about the severity of omicron after a “discouraging” year. “First they ran short of PPE, then ventilators. Now the shortage is hospital staff,” the Post wrote.

The New York Times‘ leading story Friday morning stated that New Year’s Eve celebrations will be impacted by airline labor shortages. “Air Travel Is No Holiday as Covid and Storms Cancel Flights,” the headline read.

Biden’s year-ending headlines were indicative of 2021. Though Biden enjoyed his first 100 days with only 19 percent negative news coverage from establishment media, headlines quickly deteriorated.

In March, Biden’s supply chain crisis headlines began to heat up and would continue throughout the summer, fall, and winter.

“China’s coronavirus-induced supply chain woes fan concerns of possible drug shortages,” Reuters reported. Economists believe the crisis was fueled by labor shortages largely created by unemployment benefits Biden signed into law in March.

“Supply-Chain Woes Add to Biden’s Burdens,” Bloomberg reported in October.

July saw the delta variant become a major negative news story for Biden as infections increased approximately 70 percent. Vice President Kamala Harris would later state the administration was unprepared for the variant.

“Four weeks in July: Inside the Biden administration’s struggle to contain the delta surge,” the Post headlined about the new variant posing threats to Biden’s promise of shutting down the virus.

One of the most tragic headlines of the year for the Biden administration seemed to be the deadly Afghan withdrawal that occurred at the end of July and the beginning of August.

“Intelligence Warned of Afghan Military Collapse, Despite Biden’s Assurances,” the New York Times printed.

“‘Burn in hell!’: Biden faces criticism from families of 13 soldiers killed in Kabul airport attack,” the Independent wrote.

In November, inflation, fueled by the supply chain crisis and Biden’s war on energy independence, became a major negative story for the president.

“U.S. Inflation Hit a 39-Year High in November,” the Journal reported.

“Biden redoubles Build Back Better push as Republicans say inflation rate demonstrates Democrats’ ‘incompetence,’” MarketWatch headlined.

In December, the omicron variant reached the United States, throwing the nation into a state of chaos. “Experts, governors warn of U.S. Omicron ‘blizzard’ in weeks ahead,” Reuters wrote about the future of the virus.

“Biden administration finds itself on defense as Omicron races across the US,” CNN highlighted.

Biden will now enter the new year with the 2022 midterms on the horizon. Negative headlines are already plaguing the administration in anticipation of a Republican sweep of the House and Senate chambers.

“Republicans hold 10-point advantage on generic midterm ballot,” the Hill reported.

“House retirement tracker: Senior Democrats exit as the GOP is confident of a takeover,” NPR warned.

Associated Press Shines Uncomfortable Spotlight on Joe Biden's Media Access Problems
By Sister Toldjah | Jan 10, 2022 11:15 AM ET

Though the mainstream media are almost always reluctant to criticize Democrats, one area where they sometimes make an exception is when those same Democrats consistently demonstrate a reluctance to engage with the press corps on a regular basis, especially in formal settings like scheduled pressers and sit-down interviews where direct and follow-up questions can be asked

This is quite different from “press sprays” and the like where reporters attend a presidential function but get relegated to informally shouting questions at the president as he walks out of the room escorted by frantic handlers and sometimes pretends not to hear them.

Oftentimes last year, White House press secretary Jen Psaki would point to Biden taking questions at off the cuff moments like those press sprays, or when he’s walking to Marine One, etc., as supposed evidence that he was as committed to transparency as he promised he would be prior to the 2020 election.

Though some in the media are apparently okay with the table scraps Biden occasionally throws at them in those situations, others are not. The Associated Press demonstrated the latter with a report they filed this morning which shined an uncomfortable spotlight on Biden’s press access issues a year into his presidency using information recently gathered by Towson University’s White House Transition Project:

As Biden wraps up his first year in the White House, he has held fewer news conferences than any of his five immediate predecessors at the same point in their presidencies, and has participated in fewer media interviews than any of his recent predecessors.

    […]

Biden has done just 22 media interviews, fewer than any of his six most recent White House predecessors at the same point in their presidencies.

The 46th president has held just nine formal news conferences — six solo and three jointly with visiting foreign leaders. […]

Former President Donald Trump, who regularly pilloried the media, did 92 interviews in his first year in office, more than two dozen of those with friendly interlocutors at Fox News. But Trump also held lengthy sessions with ABC News, The Associated Press, the New York Times, Reuters and other outlets whose coverage he impugned throughout his presidency.

Biden’s 22 media interviews have included one-on-one sessions with journalists at three of the major television networks, three CNN town halls, an appearance on MSNBC, a trio of regional television interviews via Zoom, as well as conversations with late night host Jimmy Fallon and ESPN’S Sage Steele. He’s given just three print interviews.

Here’s what that looks like in graphic form: https://twitter.com/PlanetPonzi/sta...t-on-joe-bidens-media-access-problems-n504256

The Daily Mail published a similar piece which cited the AP’s information, and included this graphic: https://twitter.com/MailOnline/stat...t-on-joe-bidens-media-access-problems-n504256

Because they want to give him the benefit of the doubt, I’ve seen some in the press laughably claim this is a “disciplined” strategy on the part of Biden, supposedly designed to give him more time to focus on the issues facing the American people and balancing them with the occasional back and forth with the media.

The real issue is that Biden is just not a very effective messenger for a number of reasons, most disturbingly because half the time he appears to lose track of what he’s saying and/or where he is, which oftentimes leads to wildly awkward/inappropriate moments as the cameras roll. As a result, Biden’s team including Psaki have fine-tuned the media avoidance tactic/hideout plan they used for most of 2020, ostensibly on grounds that it was safer for all involved during the coronavirus pandemic.
As I’ve said before, as much as we rail on the mainstream media for their bias, it’s not because we hate the media – it’s because we want them to actually do what they’re supposed to do and hold government officials accountable and to report stories from a neutral perspective that allows the reader/viewer to form their own opinions. It’s difficult for the media to do their jobs when political figures play access games and let their handlers do a lion’s share of the dirty work in attempting to clean up their boss’s messes.

Unfortunately, it appears that the Biden White House has no intention of changing their tune on press access in 2022: https://twitter.com/RNCResearch/sta...t-on-joe-bidens-media-access-problems-n504256

Jen Psaki’s spin on the AP’s report later today during the White House press briefing should be fascinating. Stay tuned.

Even Stacey Abrams wouldn't show up for Joe's speech in her town. A 'scheduling conflict'. I remember when people would clear their schedule to appear with a President - oh but that was every President except Biden. Lol

Biden is going to suffer another massive defeat as his presidency continues to unravel
The Biden administration has no plan to deal with the problems

Just when you think Uncle Joe Biden can't fall any deeper into his own yogurt – and you know what I mean by yogurt – he does. His so-called "election takeover" speech yesterday was yet another example. Here's a bit of sound for you to chew on:
PRESIDENT BIDEN: I will not yield, I will not flinch, I will defend the right to vote, our democracy, against all enemies - foreign and yes, domestic. … Do you want to be on the side of Dr. King or George Wallace? Do you want to be on the side of John Lewis or Bull Connor? Do you want to be on the side of Abraham Lincoln or Jefferson Davis?

I'd say that's pretty grotesque. And for a guy who ran as a "unifier," that typifies the uber divisiveness that has characterized Joe Biden's presidency. If you disagree with me, you're a "woke, racist, White supremacist, evil, bad person." That's what he said. And as usual, Biden can't even get his facts right.

Even George Wallace toward the end of his career ran for Alabama governor and president as a pro-civil rights liberal. I don't want to defend the guy or his long racist past. I'm just saying he changed.

And I'm also just saying that as Joe Biden spreads his poison, none of his opponents or critics will ever change. Somebody should send Biden a copy of Dale Carnegie's book "How to Win Friends and Influence People." One of Carnegie's key points was "don't criticize, condemn or complain." Pretty soon we're going to have to stop calling him "Uncle Joe" and begin calling him "Charming Joe."

Here's somebody who wasn't charmed. Republican leader Mitch McConnell. Take a listen:

SENATE MINORITY LEADER MITCH MCCONNELL: Twelve months ago, the president said, "Every disagreement doesn’t have to be a cause for total war." Yesterday, he said anyone who opposes smashing the Senate and letting Democrats rewrite election law is a domestic "enemy" and a traitor like Jefferson Davis.

Good for Mitch. By the way, the election takeover bill is not going to pass, and the legislative filibuster is not going to end. They are both terrible ideas. It will be another major defeat for the Biden agenda. And speaking of major defeats for the Biden agenda, it's time for me to say Save America. Kill the Bill.

Today's consumer inflation report, which shows a 7 percent price hike over the past 12 months, including 9.1 percent increase over just the past three months – on an annualized basis, it's yet another nail in the coffin of big government socialism.

Of course, this has been Joe Manchin's point for the past year. Yes, there's some pandemic-related supply shortages in that number, but the overriding cause of inflation is massive government spending which has been financed by massive Federal Reserve money printing.

And there's no end in sight. It's not about price gouging by business, it's about too much money chasing too few goods. It's about devaluing the worth of those dollars in your wallets and pocketbooks. It's also about depreciating the value of your wages and salaries.

And whether it's gasoline, or groceries, or clothing, or cars, or housing, Americans are very angry over inflation. And still, there is no clear plan from the Biden administration or Jay Powell's Fed to deal with the problem.

That's why President Biden's going to suffer another massive defeat in his economic agenda as his presidency continues to unravel.

Finally, a new poll from Quinnipiac, which is traditionally a liberal poll, shows Biden's approval is underwater 33 to 53% among adults., 26 to 61% among men. 25 to 57% among independents, and 28 to 51% among Hispanics.

And then, there's today's op-ed piece in the Wall Street Journal: "Hillary Clinton’s 2024 Election Comeback."

Hate to be the bearer of bad news folks, but President Hillary is most certainly not the answer to America's problems. Save America. Kill the Bill.

Sen. Tim Scott: Biden's voting rights speech was 'offensive' to me as a Southerner and an American
Biden compared Republicans to segregationists in his address Tuesday

Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., said Wednesday he was "offended" by President Biden's divisive voting rights speech, telling Fox News the country has "fought too hard, too long for the progress that he’s denying."

    https://twitter.com/SenatorTimScott...fensive-to-me-as-a-southerner-and-an-american

"It's offensive to me as a Southerner, but more importantly, it’s offensive to me as an American," Scott told "The Story" host Martha MacCallum.

Biden warned of a stark dichotomy between the proponents and opponents of the Democrats' election law overhaul bill dubbed the "John Lewis Voting Rights Act," asking a crowd in Atlanta on Tuesday whether they were on the side of reviled figures like segregationist Gov. George Wallace and Confederate President Jefferson Davis, or on the side of civil rights leaders Martin Luther King Jr. and the late John Lewis.

Wallace notably proclaimed in his 1963 gubernatorial inauguration address, "segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever."

Scott scolded Biden for invoking the divisive rhetoric, calling the president's inappropriate attempt at a joke during his speech "hard to digest."

"That is disheartening," he said. "The importance of the civil rights movement can never be overstated. The fact that we have a president of these United States looking for a way to get laughs at a rally around lying to people about voting is just hard to digest."

"I’m insulted that he refuses to recognize the tremendous progress made by Americans, not by Republicans or Democrats, not by Black folks or White folks, by Americans coming together to fight for the rights of every single man, woman to vote … how he missed the opportunity to shine the bright light on progress and instead used something that has been proven to be untrue time and time again," Scott added.

Tim Scott, R-S.C., questions Chris Magnus as he appears before a Senate Finance Committee hearing on his nomination to be the next U.S. Customs and Border Protection commissioner in the Dirksen Senate Office Building on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., Oct. 19, 2021. Scott's comments came just after Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., torched Biden's speech on the Senate floor, calling it "deliberately divisive" and one that was "designed to pull our country further apart."

The misguided speech has not just been knocked by Republicans. Liberals have also gone after the president for his peculiar word choices.

MSNBC commentator Al Sharpton said Biden's rhetoric was reminiscent of a "you’re going to hell" speech rather than one that would get voters’ support.

MSNBC "Morning Joe" host Joe Scarborough said Biden's choice of words "may have overshot the mark," as he seeks to persuade moderate Democrats like Sens. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., and Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz., to eliminate the filibuster, which creates a 60-vote threshold to advance legislation.
