    What's True

A grantmaking network founded by George Soros provided funding to some groups that engaged in Ferguson-related protest activities.

In all, Mr. Soros gave at least $33 million in one year to support already-established groups that emboldened the grass-roots, on-the-ground activists in Ferguson, according to the most recent tax filings of his nonprofit Open Society Foundations.

The financial tether from Mr. Soros to the activist groups gave rise to a combustible protest movement that transformed a one-day criminal event in Missouri into a 24-hour-a-day national cause celebre.

Soros-sponsored organizations helped mobilize protests in Ferguson, building grass-roots coalitions on the ground backed by a nationwide online and social media campaign.

Other Soros-funded groups made it their job to remotely monitor and exploit anything related to the incident that they could portray as a conservative misstep, and to develop academic research and editorials to disseminate to the news media to keep the story alive.

But taking that information and converting it into the assertion Soros himself funded Ferguson-related protests and riots is problematic for a number of reasons. Although George Soros is the founder and chairman of OSF, he quite obviously does not personally oversee and approve every single grant made by the OSF network to the multitude of organizations and programs that the network helps to fund. As well, the $33 million figure includes just about every organization with any connection to Ferguson-related activism that received monies from the OSF network, even if their involvement was tangential (such as publishing, writing, or promoting hashtags about the issue). And that such groups may have received part of their funding from the OSF network doesn’t mean those funds were given for the specific purpose of organizing Ferguson-related protests, or with the knowledge or intent they would be used thusly.

As Kenneth Zimmerman, director of OSF’s U.S. Programs observed, some of the groups involved have been receiving OSF funding since long before the Ferguson shooting was a political issue, and the OSF itself did not promote or direct Ferguson-related protests:

DOJ will waive death penalty in case against white supremacist mercenary who's fighting extradition from Ukraine

    Jordan Green, Staff Reporter
    May 10, 2021

    Craig Lang (Facebook)

The US government will waive the death penalty against a former US soldier who is fighting extradition from Ukraine to face federal charges in connection with the 2018 murder of a couple in southwest Florida.

Craig Lang, along with Alex Zwiefelhofer, who is in US custody, is accused of killing the couple during a late-night rendezvous off the interstate south of Fort Myers as part of a plot to raise funds to pay for a military expedition to overthrow the Venezuelan government.

Bjorn Brunvand, Lang's court-appointed lawyer, appeared via Zoom for a status hearing held by a federal judge in Fort Myers today. Brunvand told Judge Sheri Polster Chappell it's difficult to predict when, if ever, Lang will be in US custody.

"We've made inquiries about that," Brunvand said. "It's really unknown how long it will take for the court to rule. My understanding is the extradition order is stayed pending a ruling [from the Ukrainian courts]."

A former soldier with combat experience in Iraq, Lang joined the ultranationalist militia Right Sector in 2015, taking part in the war against Russian separatists. Lang was a considered a mentor to many younger American volunteers, some of whom sought combat skills that they could put to use in service of white supremacist insurrection in their home country.

One aspiring combatant who contacted Lang was a South Carolinian named Jarrett William Smith, who contacted Lang in June 2016 through Facebook, seeking advice about joining Azov Battalion, another ultranationalist formation. Smith was arrested in an FBI sting in 2019 after sharing information about how to make IEDs and encouraging an assassination plot against former US Rep. Beto O'Rourke. Smith is currently serving a two-and-a-half-year sentence at USP Marion in Illinois.

During his time with Right Sector, Lang met Alex Zwiefelhofer, another American soldier who joined the militia after going AWOL from Fort Bragg in North Carolina. When the fighting in Ukraine reached a lull, Lang and Zwiefelhofer hatched a plan to travel to South Sudan to fight al-Shabaab, but they were detained at the border by Kenyan authorities, and deported to the United States. Lang harbored a dream of assembling a mercenary outfit, and he and Zwiefelhofer started making arrangements to travel to Venezuela in the spring of 2018 to overthrow the government of Nicolas Maduro, according to US court documents.

Lang and Zwiefelhofer are accused of arranging luring a Florida couple, Serafin "Danny" Lorenzo and Deana Lorenzo, to a nighttime rendezvous at commercial plaza off the interstate south of Fort Myers. The couple hoped to buy guns from the sellers, and then turn around and re-sell them at a profit. Instead, when Danny stepped out of the truck and walked around to the passenger side, he was killed in a hail of bullets, according to the investigation by the Lee County Sheriff's office. Deana, who was seated in the passenger seat of the truck, was also fatally shot. Deputies determined that two shooters carried out the execution-style assault, one firing from the rear into the back of the pickup truck and the other firing towards the front passenger side of the vehicle. Crime scene technicians recovered more than 63 shells around the vehicle. The two men fled east across the Everglades on a section of Interstate 75 known as "Alligator Alley," according to government documents.

For reasons that are unclear, Lang and Zwiefelhofer did not follow through on their plan to travel to Venezuela. Investigators determined that Lang sold some of the firearms components to a pawnshop in Seattle more than a month after the Lorenzo murders, and Zwiefelhofer returned to stay with his father in northern Wisconsin. According to government documents, Lang flew to Bogota, Colombia in September 2018 and planned to cross into Venezuela, but that plan didn't materialize either. In November 2018, the US Department of Homeland Security tracked Lang flying from Bogota to Madrid. A month later, Lang was back in Ukraine, according to an American expatriate who spoke to the FBI at the US embassy in Kyiv.

During the status hearing in Fort Myers today, Assistant US Attorney Jesus M. Casas told the court that the government has agreed to waive the death penalty in Lang's case in an attempt to overcome hurdles in the extradition process. The death penalty has been abolished in Ukraine.

However, Casas indicated that the US government is still seeking the death penalty against Zwiefelhofer, who has been in US custody since September 2019.

Zwiefelhofer and Lang were indicted on multiple counts related to the deaths of Danny and Deana Lorenzo, including use a firearm during and relation to a crime of violence and interference with commerce by robbery. In December 2019, a grand jury handed returned a superseding indictment, adding new counts for conspiracy to kill, kidnap and maim persons in a foreign country and violation of the Neutrality Act. The additional offenses required approval by the US Justice Department before they could be presented to the grand jury.

As part of the government's allegation that Lang and Zwiefelhofer conspired to overthrow the Venezuelan government, Casas wrote in a December 2019 court filing: "In furtherance of the conspiracy, Lang: (1) discussed with others the plan to fight the Venezuelan government to kill people, (2) obtained firearms, ammunition and other military equipment that he planned to take to take to Venezuela for the purpose of fighting against the Venezuelan government, (3) traveled from the state of Arizona to the state of Florida with firearms, ammunition and other military equipment; and (4) committed an armed robbery of $3,000 in US currency from [Serafin Lorenzo Jr.] and [Deana Lorenzo] to fund their travel to Venezuela,"

In Ukraine, Lang has been celebrated as a hero of the country's struggle to retain sovereignty against Russian aggression, with Right Sector fighters accompanying him to court in a show of solidarity, according to a recent report in Buzzfeed. And Lang has become increasingly conspicuous about his extremist orientation; photos of him appearing in court show a patch on the sleeve of his coat with the number "88" — a widely understood code for "Heil Hitler."

Casas told Judge Chappell today that the government is pursuing Lang and Zwiefelhofer's case on separate tracks given the uncertainty surrounding Lang's status.

Zwiefelhofer's lawyers told Chappell they need more time to travel to meet potential witnesses, gather documents from multiple government agencies and confer with their client, and the court granted a six-month continuance, putting the defendant on the docket for the December 2021 trial term.

Most City wide ordinances state that discharging a firearm within City limits is illegal...Violation #1

Possessing a firearm if one is a convicted felon is illegal...Violation #2

Shooting a person or persons is illegal...Violation #3

So....which laws that were already on the books....stopped this shooting from happening?

MIAMI — In September 2019, Michael Sherwin won a widely publicized criminal case against a Chinese woman accused of trespassing at President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida. Soon after, the seasoned South Florida prosecutor would get a call from the Justice Department about a temporary assignment advising U.S. Attorney General William Barr on national security matters related to China and other foreign countries. For Sherwin, who had served in the Middle East as a naval intelligence officer during the 9/11 era, it was an offer he could not refuse. It was also a first-time...

A New York Assemblywoman Tweets Out, Then Deletes, Anti-Israel Photo Suggesting Israeli Genocide
By Brandon Morse | May 13, 2021 2:30 PM ET

With Israel facing down terrorist groups like Hamas in Gaza, Americans have taken their sides with many on the left immediately siding with Hamas, an actual terrorist organization. We’re not talking about random Twitter users either. There are actual elected officials in America who wish to see Israel lose to a terrorist group that uses children as human shields.

    Welcome to 2021.

One of those elected officials taking the side of Hamas is New York Assemblywoman Phara Souffrant Forrest decided to take to Twitter and tweet out an image that featured the country of Israel covered in nice-looking flowers with the word “Palestine” in place of the word “Israel.” This was accompanied by the hashtag “#FreePalestine.”

The tweet was up for a bit before Forrest took it down. She then posted a tweet explaining why she took it down, and none of it actually apologizes for the picture and even suggests Israel is an apartheid state.

    It’s not.

“I deleted a previous tweet that led to misunderstandings about my position. My position has always been about peace and justice. I stand against apartheid because I believe that all people deserve to live under equal rights regardless of ethnicity or religion,” tweeted Forrest.

The tweet was deleted but the internet is forever.

What Forrest has effectively advocated for here are the complete termination and genocide of Israel and its people. Israel’s enemies do not want to invite the Jewish people into cohabitation in a country called Palestine (which does not exist), what they want is the complete extermination of the Jewish people.

This isn’t hyperbole, this is stated in Hamas’s charter, and it’s deeply rooted in the Islamic principle of jihad against those who oppose their religion:

“This is the Charter of the Islamic Resistance (Hamas) which will reveal its face, unveil its identity, state its position, clarify its purpose, discuss its hopes, call for support to its cause and reinforcement, and for joining its ranks. For our struggle against the Jews is extremely wide-ranging and grave, so much so that it will need all the loyal efforts we can wield, to be followed by further steps and reinforced by successive battalions from the multifarious Arab and Islamic world, until the enemies are defeated and Allah’s victory prevails.”

“The basic structure of the Islamic Resistance Movement consists of Muslims who are devoted to Allah and worship Him verily [as it is written]: “I have created Man and Devil for the purpose of their worship” [of Allah]. Those Muslims are cognizant of their duty towards themselves, their families and country and they have been relying on Allah for all that. They have raised the banner of Jihad in the face of the oppressors in order to extricate the country and the people from the [oppressors’] desecration, filth and evil.”

On Wednesday, a Hamas official reportedly urged people to cut the heads off of any Jewish person they see.

“A knife costs five shekels [about $1.50]. Buy a knife, sharpen it, put it there, and just cut off [their heads]. It costs just five shekels. With those five shekels, you will humiliate the Jewish state,” said Fathi Hammad, Hamas Political Bureau member, and former interior minister.

This is the organization and causes that people like Forrest support when they tweet out the pictures that they did. This is open racism and a smiling nod toward genocide by elected officials. Our allies are being spit on and told to die by people we put into office who then endorse and elevate literal terrorists.

Democrat Cori Bush praises BLM activist who wished 'death' on police officers: 'Fry 'em like bacon'
The Missouri Democrat compared events that led to the Black Lives Matter movement in the US to the recent, deadly rocket fire in the Middle East.
    5/14/2021

Missouri Democratic Rep. Cori Bush praised the Black Lives Matter activist who advocated "death" for police officers in 2014 and tweeted the BLM chant "pigs in a blanket fry 'em like bacon."

Bush, a newly minted member of the "squad," compared the ongoing conflict in Israel and Gaza with the Black Lives Matter movement during a speech on the House floor Thursday, reflecting on the life of Bassem Masri, who died in 2018.

Bush described Masri as a "St. Louis Palestinian," noting how he garnered national attention for live streaming heated exchanges between himself and Ferguson police officers following the 2014 shooting of Michael Brown Jr.

Masri was among those arrested on a variety of charges following demonstrations outside the Ferguson Police Department in November 2014. Just one month later, Masri tweeted what became a popular BLM chant: "Pigs in a blanket, fry 'em like bacon."

"As a Palestinian, he was ready to resist, to rebel, to rise up with us as our St. Louis community mourned Mike Brown, Jr.’s state sanctioned murder, and as we demanded an end to the militarized police occupation of our communities," Bush said in an address to lawmakers on Thursday. "Palestinians know what state violence, militarized policing, and occupation of their communities look like."

"So when heavily militarized police forces showed up in Ferguson in 2014, Bassem and so many others of our St. Louis Palestinian community, our Palestinian siblings showed up too," she continued.

Cell phone footage captured in a live stream on Oct. 8, 2014, showed a crowd of people surrounding police officers in St. Louis as one man yelled obscenities, the local FOX affiliate reported.

"Coward straight pig out here b---! You gotta go. Your life is in danger homie," one man yelled at a police officer. The man yelling was Masri, who then asked an officer, "What happens when we take your gun?"

Masri told police officers, "I’m praying for your death and your death and your death and your death," as he pointed at one after another.

The St. Louis activist later told a local FOX affiliate, "If the citizen is pissed, you don’t look at the citizen and say ‘oh he’s bad, he’s a terrorist’ you look at the police and say ‘how come this man is mad at y’all’."

"I don’t want to get hurt. I don`t want to go to jail," he added. "I’m a citizen who’s mad."

Masri died in 2018 from what Bush described in her floor speech as a "health crisis."

The Missouri Democrat continued her speech by comparing the events that led to the Black Lives Matter movement to the recent deadly rocket fire in the Middle East.

"That harassment, that extortion, that brutalization by heavily armed militarized presence in our community, that’s what we fund when our government sends our tax dollars to the Israeli military," the Missouri congresswoman said.

Bush suggested diverting funds used to bolster Israeli military support to St. Louis communities instead.

The Israeli and Palestinian death toll has steadily climbed since fighting started Monday, with at least 122 people dead in Gaza and at least eight people dead in Israel, according to the BBC.

Bush's office did not respond to Fox News in time for publication.

Capitol rioter's journal: From 'Go Fund Me' to 'don't touch me' to 'don't tag me'

Jon Thomas Mott apparently got himself from Arkansas to Washington D.C. with the help of a GoFundMe page organized on behalf of a "fellow patriot" and himself. But the generosity of it all didn't work so well.

Mott, of Yellville AR, was arrested Thursday in connection with the January 6 Capitol riot. He faces criminal entry and trespassing and disorderly conduct charges.

Unlike so many other suspects, Mott doesn't appear to have left a trail of electronic breadcrumbs for the FBI in the form of social-media posts and texts.

But he didn't need to: He got tagged.

According to the FBI criminal complaint, someone identified only as "Individual 1" had referenced Mott on his GoFundMe page for the trip of D.C. -- to which the FBI was alerted by witnesses -- and that apparently led to Mott's identification as having participated in the riot.

It probably didn't help that, according to the FBI, Mott's spouse, Hope Anderson-Mott, had linked from her Facebook page to the GoFundMe page asking for support. Her Facebook page also referenced Mott's trip to Washington D.C.

The various tips about Mott led the FBI to identify him in Freedom News video and footage from police body cameras. That's where the direct evidence against Mott was cited in the FBI complaint:

"In the Freedom News video, the footage depicts Mott with swollen eyes pouring water on another person's face. This behavior is indicative of recovery from tear gas or another similar chemical irritant which was deployed by law enforcement in an effort to subdue the rioters entering the Capitol."

The FBI also stated that "Mott joined another group of rioters who were yelling at (police) officers. Mott has an interaction with an officer, who is utilizing his baton in an attempt to restrict the rioters from moving through the exit. Mott can be heard telling the officer "don't touch me and if you don't touch me, I won't touch you," and then pushing against the officer's baton."

Then there was this passage from Individual 1's Facebook account after it was all over, again not helpful to Mott:

"I'm ok. We did it. JT and I got separated for about 20 minutes, but I've made contact with him. He's better than OK. I'm now trying to get us the hell out of here. Good work patriots. Protecting pedophiles and denying people don't fly here. The silent majority has spoken. Let this be a lesson. We'll do it again when we have to."

You can reach the FBI complaint here.

Antifa supporter calls for the systematic killing of white people

    OAN Newsroom
    UPDATED 7:09 AM PT – Friday, May 14, 2021

A purported Antifa supporter called for the systematic killing of white people. The shocking incident was captured in a video shared on Twitter by independent journalist Andy Ngo.

The incident occurred during a protest near Seattle this week against the Billy Graham Association. The footage shows an unidentified protester confronting a group of passers-by, explicitly saying she hopes white people are murdered. She then doubled down on those remarks when confronted.

Shooter lived in Oregon for almost a decade.
    We owned a boat.
One of the fun things we would do is run to the Portland waterfront for the day, or even just for dinner.
It was nice; the waterfront had some excellent float up restaurants, the area was safe and clean and pleasant to experience.

Now, the waterfront is a haven for the homeless and for looters and rioters. The restaurants have pretty much all closed, permanently, empty buildings are boarded up and vandalized. Looters and rioters keep the area filthy and dangerous to be there. Unless that is you are a BLM/antifa supporter. In that case they would appreciate people bringing them a case of frozen water bottles, or maybe some industrial lasers, or even commercial fireworks.

Liz Cheney: GOP colleagues voted me out because of 'threats on their lives'

    ABC/screen grab

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) revealed on Sunday that some Republicans did not come to her defense while she was being ousted from leadership because of "threats on their lives."

"There was really nobody that came to your defense," ABC host Jonathan Karl noted during an interview with Cheney that aired on Sunday. "You were pretty much alone on this."

"It is very important to stand up for what's right," Cheney replied. "I know that there are many members who have expressed concern about their own security."

"And I think that's an important point," she continued. "We now live in a country where members' votes are are affected because they're worried about their security, they're worried about threats on their lives. So I think that's part of it."

According to ABC7 News, a JetBlue flight from New York to San Francisco was forced to divert to Minneapolis after an anti-masker onboard snorted a "white substance," touched a woman, and caused a number of disturbances.

"Witnesses say that passenger had a bag full of that white substance, touched at least one other woman, made inappropriate comments to numerous female passengers, yelled racist slurs towards passengers upon boarding, and refused to wear a mask," reported J.R. Upon landing in Minneapolis witnesses we talked with say the man in question was met by officers and the FBI."

Georgia's lieutenant governor reveals 'hundreds' of death threats from fellow Republicans over Trump lies

Georgia's lieutenant governor Geoff Duncan says he received disturbing threats from fellow Republicans for refusing to endorse Donald Trump's election lies.

The twice-impeached one-term president pressured Georgia's GOP governor, Brian Kemp, and secretary of state Brad Raffensperger to overturn his loss in that typically Republican state, and Duncan told MSNBC's "Morning Joe" that he paid a personal price for refusing to go along with the scheme.

"Look, i've got three kids -- three boys [ages] 19, 15, 10, I'm married to my high school sweetheart," Duncan said. "These have been some very interesting times for us. I'm proud to have them on my team, they've been very supportive. But when you receive death threats from hundreds of Republicans from around the country, that's a problem, when you're only sitting there telling the truth."

However, the lieutenant governor remains hopeful the Republican Party will turn away from its cult-like devoting to the former president.

"There's a better day ahead," Duncan said. "I'm proud to go to work on behalf of my family and 11 million Georgians, but this is bigger than Georgia. It's time to create a movement, a movement that is worthy to ask for millions and tens of millions of people to vote for."

And bank robbery is illegal, but it still happens. Murder is a crime, but it still happens. Driving 90mph is illegal, but it still happens.

Sounds like you've uncovered the justification for anarchy! Who needs laws?

Well, but indeed, laws enforced and violators properly punished do indeed prevent additional violations.
Bank Robbery is now a Federal offense and we no longer have the Bonnie and Clyde types robbing banks in weekly crime sprees. Bank Robbery has been reduced to a serious but rare occurrence.
Murder is indeed a crime, but without penalties it would be a much more common crime. One need look no farther than Chicago, where the clearance rate (meaning someone is charged and convicted) is never above 50% while nationwide, the clearance rate is generally above 65%.
Traffic offenses are indeed reduced with enforcement.

The problem with most firearms laws are that they are aimed not at the perpetrator, but the tool (guns) used.
Neither guns or criminals give a fig for the law.
"Arresting" the gun does not prevent it from killing again.
