In the 70's and 80's the smart laddies in California figured out that 80% of the serious and violent crimes were comitted by 10% of the population, the repeat criminal.
This is where the so called 3 strikes laws were born.

They have a proven track record reducing crime.
    Significantly.

Unfortunately the despicables would rather have the votes than safe streets.

Crime Wave: Six Police Officers Killed in the Line of Duty in Final Month of 2021

In the final month of 2021, six police officers in Alabama, Illinois, Missouri, Maryland, and Texas were killed in the line of duty as a crime wave continues sweeping the United States.

Following the start of the “Defund the Police” movement in 2020, the last 12 months proved to be a deadly year for police officers across the U.S. As Breitbart News reported, from January 1, 2021 to November 30, 2021, 57 police officers were killed.

In the last month of 2021, an additional six police officers were killed in the line of duty. These officers include Madison “Skip” Nicholson, Antonio Antoine Valentine, Richard Houston II, Keona Holley, Sean Riley, and Marlene Rittmanic.

Holley, a mother of four children, died the day before Christmas Eve after she was ambushed by a shooter while she sat in her police car. Riley was shot and killed on December 29 after responding to a “motorist assist” call.

Rittmanic, 49-years-old, was killed on December 30 when she and her partner responded to a call about unattended dogs in a vehicle sitting in the parking lot of a motel. Two suspects are now in custody for her murder.

Nicholson was killed in gunfire in Wilcox County, Alabama, on December 1, while Houston was shot and killed in Mesquite, Texas on December 3. Valentine was killed on December 1 in St. Louis County, Missouri, in the midst of a vehicle pursuit.

In a year-end report, the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) reveals that 314 police officers have been shot from January 1, 2021 to December 1, 2021. One hundred and nineteen of those shootings occurred in the midst of 95 separate ambush-style attacks on officers, resulting in 28 of the total gunfire deaths.

Ambush attacks on officers increased nearly 130 percent since 2020.

31 Shot During New Year’s Weekend in Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s Chicago

Thirty-one people were shot, six of them fatally, during New Year’s weekend in Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s (D) Chicago.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports the weekend’s first fatal shooting was that of 18-year-old Anthony Watkins, who was shot at 11:15 p.m. New Year’s Eve while walking “in the 5200 block of West Van Buren Street.”

Watkins was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

A 22-year-old man was discovered with a gunshot wound about 5:25 a.m. New Year’s Day. He was transported to a hospital and pronounced dead.

The third fatal shooting of weekend was discovered when a identified shooting victim was found with a gunshot wound to the head just before 9 a.m. New Year’s Day.

A man approximately 40 years of age was found fatally shot Sunday morning “in the 2400 block of South Trumbull Avenue.”

The fifth shooting death of the weekend occurred Sunday night at 11:15 p.m., when a 20-year-old man was shot multiple times while “standing in the street in the 5200 block of West Van Buren Street.” The man was taken to a hospital where he died.

The sixth shooting death of the weekend was 12-year-old Marcell Wilson.

Fox 32 reports that Wilson was shot while sitting in a bedroom with a group of people around 11:25 p.m. when someone shot him in the chest. Wilson was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

Breitbart News noted that 2021 was the deadliest year for Chicago in a quarter of a century. The Hill pointed out that the Chicago Police Department listed 797 homicides for the year in Chicago.

WBEZ reported Chicago surpassed 800 homicides in mid-December.

Manhattan’s ‘progressive’ new DA Alvin Bragg just gave a green light for anarchy

Who needs soft-on-crime judges when the district attorney doesn’t even want to lock up the bad guys?

Manhattan’s new DA has ordered his prosecutors to stop seeking prison sentences for hordes of criminals and to downgrade felony charges in cases including armed robberies and drug dealing, according to a set of progressive policies made public Tuesday.

In his first memo to staff on Monday, Alvin Bragg said his office “will not seek a carceral sentence” except with homicides and a handful of other cases, including domestic violence felonies, some sex crimes and public corruption.

“The Office shall not seek a sentence of life without parole,” the memo states.

Under state law, that punishment is reserved for the most heinous of murderers, including terrorists, serial killers, cop killers and fiends who kill children younger than 14 during in connection with sex crimes or torture.

Bragg’s memo also detailed the following instructions for prosecutors to reduce charges filed by cops in various cases:

    • Armed robbers who use guns or other deadly weapons to stick up stores and other businesses will be prosecuted only for petty larceny, a misdemeanor, provided no victims were seriously injured and there’s no “genuine risk of physical harm” to anyone. Armed robbery, a class B felony, would typically be punishable by a maximum of 25 years in prison, while petty larceny subjects offenders to up to 364 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
    • Convicted criminals caught with weapons other than guns will have those felony charges downgraded to misdemeanors unless they’re also charged with more serious offenses. Criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a class D felony, is punishable by up to 7 years behind bars.
    • Burglars who steal from residential storage areas, parts of homes that aren’t “accessible to a living area” and businesses located in mixed-use buildings will be prosecuted for a low-level class D felony that only covers break-ins instead of for more serious crimes. Those more serious crimes, class B and class C felonies, would be punishable by up to 25 and up to 15 years in prison respectively.
    • Drug dealers believed to be “acting as a low-level agent of a seller” will be prosecuted only for misdemeanor possession. Also, suspected dealers will only be prosecuted on felony charges if they’re also accused of more serious crimes or are actually caught in the act of selling drugs. That felony would mean facing up to seven years behind bars.

    • Off somewhere wearing a sardonic smile must be billionaire George Soros — the arch-anarchist who’s been lavishing big bucks on progressive district-attorney candidates for years now, and who kicked in a reported $1 million to Bragg’s campaign last year.

Soros-backed DAs reign in San Francisco — the smash-and-grab retail-robbery capital of America — and in Philadelphia, a city that posted more murders than New York last year despite having one-fifth Gotham’s population.

Now Soros has hit the jackpot. Bragg holds America’s foremost local law-enforcement office in terms of volume, influence and prestige. In other words, whatever it is that Soros has in mind, Bragg both owes him and is perfectly positioned to oblige him — and on the grandest stage in America. This is not a comforting thought.

Bragg’s staff memo reeks of ignorance, arrogance and contempt for the law-abiding. It also puts him in direct conflict with Eric Adams —who was a cop during the crack wars, who therefore knows what’s up, and who has promised to make crime a priority.

Adams probably didn’t expect Manhattan’s district attorney to be an obstacle to safe streets, but there you have it. He is.

Ball’s in your court, Mr. Mayor. Best of luck.

During a weekly briefing last Monday, Philadelphia district attorney and prominent "progressive prosecutor" Larry Krasner sought to downplay the surge in violence his city has endured over the last two years.

"We don't have a crisis of lawlessness, we don't have a crisis of crime, we don't have a crisis of violence," Krasner said. "It's important that we don't let this become mushy and bleed into the notion that there is some kind of big spike in crime."

Those claims are at odds with the facts on the ground. Philadelphia has seen over 500 homicides this year, the most in 60 years; shootings, which began surging last year, remain well above pre-2020 norms. As former mayor Michael Nutter (D.) put it in a blistering op-ed, "I'd like to ask Krasner: How many more Black and brown people, and others, would have to be gunned down in our streets daily to meet your definition of a ‘crisis'?"

Krasner's comments, though, typify a rhetorical approach adopted by prominent politicians, think tanks, and the media amid a record surge in homicides across the country. Since murders began rising in the wake of last summer's anti-police protests, progressives have sought to discount or otherwise wave away the spike and conspicuously avoided discussing the role of the diminished criminal justice system. This wariness reflects a progressive fear of "tough on crime" rhetoric but is likely to cost them electorally—if it has not already.

Murders did surge in 2020, FBI data show, by roughly 30 percent, the highest one-year percentage increase on record. But so did aggravated assaults—a proxy for shootings—and carjackings. Early evidence suggests that things worsened over 2021: Among nearly 90 cities tracked by the data firm AH Datalytics, roughly two-thirds have seen homicides continue to rise in 2021. At least 12 major cities have already hit all-time homicide records, including 5 that have tied or topped records set last year. As Manhattan Institute senior fellow (and my colleague) Rafael Mangual has documented, dozens of smaller cities have seen the same record surge in homicides. In many jurisdictions, things are as bad as they were in the 1990s. In fact, if trends continue, the AH Datalytics data suggest, 2021 will see the most big-city murders since 1995.

The Obama administration endured 24 mass shootings — more than the three preceding administrations combined. More than any previous administration, Obama and his cabinet appeared to have a playbook for responding to shootings, and they usually commented on or issued statements about them. Gone were the days of ignoring mass shootings and hoping thereby to starve them of attention.
    ==================================================================================

President Biden on Tuesday called for passage of his stalled multitrillion-dollar social spending bill in a video message marking the ninth anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre — highlighting a relatively obscure provision in the bill that he said would prevent additional mass shootings.

Biden has taken many opportunities to promote the sprawling package, which would cost $2.2 trillion as passed last month by the House, or $4.5 trillion if its programs are extended over 10 years.

“There are three common-sense bills to reduce gun violence that the Senate should pass now, right away, long overdue,” Biden said on the anniversary of the slaughter of 20 first-graders and six school staffers in Newtown, Conn.

“One requires more extensive background checks for gun sales. One is to keep guns out of the hands of more abusers,” he said. “[And] my Build Back Better legislation, which would make a landmark $5 billion investment in community violence prevention and intervention programs to support trusted leaders who work directly with people are most likely to commit gun crimes or become gun victims before it’s too late. These programs work.”
    =================================================================================

And of course, the ''gun free zones'' are as active as hell for shootings:

Florida man with Antifa gear allegedly targets January 6 rally, police find explosives at home
His helmet allegedly contained the "iron front" logo, which has been used by Antifa groups

A Florida man was arrested after running away from a protest in support of a Jan. 6 rioter, and was found with a pipe explosive device in his backpack, police said.

Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said in a Friday press conference that Garrett Smith, 22, was seen running away from a crowd of 85 protesters who were gathering in support of Jeremy Brown on Thursday, claiming that he is a "political prisoner."

Smith was arrested by police shortly after 7:30 p.m., and police searched his backpack and found a pipe explosive device, along with a "Direct Action Checklist," which lists what clothing he wore, along with "gear," including a "gas mask and filters, pepper spray, smoke rockets and flammable rags," according to Gualtieri.

The helmet that Smith was allegedly wearing contains the "iron front" logo, which has been used by Antifa groups.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office bomb squad determined that the explosive device was active, and cleared the area of the protest.

After obtaining a search warrant for Smith's residence, law enforcement officers found another pipe-type explosive device and "hand grenade type explosives."

According to Gualtieri, Smith refused to talk with law enforcement officials and police were unable to determine any motive or possible political leanings.

"Smith refused to give any information, he refused to talk to deputies, so we really have no idea as to what his political leanings are and whether he supported or opposed the protesters at the jail. We also don't know exactly what his plan was or why Smith was running away from the protest area when he was apprehended by deputies and before he had an opportunity to detonate the explosive device," Gualtieri said.

Smith has also recently traveled to Portland, Oregon, according to the official.

Gualtieri said that people such as Smith are among the "most concerning individuals" because of the lack of criminal history.

"Smith has no criminal history, no social media accounts that we can find, and there's no prior intelligence information about Smith. Smith is what we call a sleeper, and these are the most concerning individuals because there's no opportunity to intervene and thwart their criminal activity until they actually act," Gualtieri said.

Smith is being held on a $300,250 bond and was charged with three counts of possession or discharge of a destructive device as well as one count of loitering and prowling.

"We're fortunate in this situation that something caused Smith to flee before he ignited the explosive device and the deputies were able to apprehend him," Gualtieri said.

Austin's defunded police no longer have the staff to monitor sex offenders
Austin, Texas, stripped 30% from police funding in 2020

A 47-year-old man who failed to register in the sex offender database was arrested in Austin, Texas, last week after police officers caught him in the middle of a sexual act with an autistic teenager, and one expert says the city’s move to defund police has put it at the mercy of such criminals.

The Austin Police Department said Ronald Christopher Martin was seen by a police officer sexually assaulting an autistic teenager on Dec. 27 with an active warrant out for his arrest for failing to properly register as a sex offender, KXAN reported.

Austin Texas downtown cityscape skyline aerial view

Investigators said Martin, a homeless man, solicited nude photos from the teenager online and brought him to Austin across state lines despite being aware he was 14 years old.

Martin had failed to register his address in relation to a previous sex offense he committed in Texas. He faces charges stemming from this as well as the more recent alleged offense, which crossed state lines.

Martin, who is listed as a lifetime high-risk sexual offender by the Texas Department of Public Safety, has previous convictions for multiple child sex crime convictions, including at least one with a 7-year-old boy, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

According to 13-year Austin police officer Justin Berry, the incident is directly related to Austin’s decision to strip funding from the police in 2020, which he says pulled resources from units that monitor and purse convicted sex offenders.

"When the city of Austin defunded us by a third of our budget they also cut 150 officer positions," Berry, who is running to represent Texas’s 19th House District, told Fox News Digital on Wednesday. "They always talk about how they gave the money back, but they didn’t give the positions back."

Interim Austin police Chief Joseph Chacon speaks during a news conference Wednesday. (Austin Police Department)

Berry said one of the units that lost officers and resources in the Austin Police Department was the unit that monitors sex offenders.

"They took those officers back and those officers were tasked with field visits, sex offender compliance checks, things that could have prevented things like this from happening," Berry explained.

Berry says that officers were taken away from following up on sex crimes and replaced with civilians who do not have the same authority as officers to pursue crimes and make arrests, which takes more time in the system and potentially allows sex offenders to move or commit more crimes.

"This guy felt emboldened, look what he does, he goes across state lines and kidnaps a kid with a learning disability and brings him back to Texas and sexually assaults him," Berry said. "That's not OK. People should be shocked by that. If that doesn't shock your conscience I don't know what will."

The city of Austin shattered its record for homicides in a year in 2021 recording 89 murders compared to the previous record of 59 set in 1960.

In addition to the grim milestone, a record-breaking surge in officers leaving the force stemming from the police defending and low morale has caused massive staffing shortages that has left citizens to fend for themselves.

"Homicides are one of the many violent crimes that have gone up this year and it's just one more reason we need to refund the police department and hire more police officers so we can let police have enough people to answer the priority and emergency calls," Austin Police Association President Ken Casaday told Fox News in October. "It's one more example of needing a bigger police force with a city that's growing out of control with other people moving here from the rest of the country."

"It's very hard to be proactive when you don't even have enough officers to answer 911 calls," Casaday added, explaining that there is a direct correlation between defunding the police and the rise in various crimes.

I enjoyed visiting Austin years ago, but defunding the police is such a fucking stupid thing to do!!

Left-Wing Manhattan DA Already Letting Criminals Back on the Streets

The newly installed left-wing District Attorney in Manhattan is already meting out his soft-on-crime prosecution policies as he downgraded the robbery charges against an ex-con who wielded a knife while robbing a drugstore of more than $2,000 in
    merchandize.

DA Alvin Bragg, who is one of a slew of leftist District Attorneys around the U.S. whose election campaign was funded by radical left billionaire George Soros, reduced a felony robbery charge to misdemeanor petit larceny, a class A Misdemeanor, which means that there is no mandatory prison sentence.

The New York Post reported on Bragg’s decision in prosecuting “career criminal” 43-year-old William Rolon and reaction to it.

When Rolon left [Duane Reade] at 100 Delancey St. without paying, a female manager confronted him and saw he was brandishing a pocket knife, according to court papers.

“F–k you, I’m taking everything,” he allegedly said.

“Bragg’s policies are an affront to every law-abiding citizen in New York City,” former Manhattan assistant district attorney Daniel Ollen, who’s now a defense lawyer, said. “Violent criminals now have carte blanche to re-offend, knowing full well that they will never again sniff the inside of a jail cell.”

“If you thought things couldn’t get any worse, think again. God help us,” Ollen said.

Law enforcement officials also said a bag of heroin fell out of Rolon’s sock during his arrest.

Police charged Rolon with first-degree robbery and criminal possession of a weapon, sources said.

But when Roln was arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court on Sunday, the robbery charge was dropped by the Manhattan DA’s Office and he was instead charged with two counts of petit larceny and related low-level offenses, including second-degree menacing, court papers said.

But Bragg’s move is consistent with a memo he issued on Jan. 3, his first day in office, that promised that certain robberies would be not be prosecuted if there was no “genuine risk of physical harm” — even after the suspect brandished a knife and the store manager told police she feared for her life and did not want to return to work.

“At the time of Rolon’s arrest Saturday, he was wanted in Brooklyn for failing to appear in court in October on charges that include felony assault with a weapon, records show,” the Post reported. “Rolon has a rap sheet that lists more than 20 arrests that date back to 1991 and involve charges of rape, robbery, assault and drug dealing, sources said.”

Massive California train looting prompts intense criticism of Democrats, Gavin Newsom: 'This is America?'
Meghan McCain tweeted, 'This looks like a third world country'

Critics excoriated California Gov. Gavin Newsom and his fellow Democrats Thursday over a set of videos showing the shocking aftermath of looted trains in Los Angeles.

The videos, posted on Twitter by local CBS photojournalist John Schreiber, showed massive amounts of opened packages, cardboard, and packaging materials strewn around the tracks.

"Keep hearing of train burglaries in LA on the scanner so went to [Lincoln Heights] to see it all. And… there’s looted packages as far as the eye can see. Amazon packages, [UPS] boxes, unused Covid tests, fishing lures, epi pens. Cargo containers left busted open on trains," Schreiber wrote, before further detailing what his team found at the scene.

Critics took to social media to blast Newsom, as well as members of his party, for their handling of the situation, with some suggesting it was the "new normal" for Californians. Others lamented that Newsom was still the governor at all.

"Nice work [Democrats]! This is the end result of many of your 'policies.' You let people steal up to $950 worth of merchandise, you let people live on the street (many criminals), you defund police so they don’t have the force to stop this and kill our supply chain; [this] happens," wrote Republican congressional candidate Robby Starbuck, while Fox News contributor Miranda Devine questioned where the police were while this was happening.

Other critics described the scene as something from a failing or third-world country.

"California is the 5th wealthiest state in America, with an average net worth of 160k per resident. Where the hell are the tax dollars going? This looks like a third world country. Anyone who entertains the idea of [Gavin Newsom] running for anything nationally should see this," former co-host of "The View" Meghan McCain wrote, while another critic simply tweeted, "This is America?"

NYC woman viciously stabbed, beaten in caught-on-video Bronx attack, police say
NYPD is investigating what, if anything, preceded the attack

A New York City woman was brutally beaten and stabbed repeatedly in an early morning attack that was caught on video, police said Friday.

The 28-year-old victim was walking in the area of East 198th Street near Valentine Avenue in the Bronx just after 5:30 a.m. on Sunday when the two apparent strangers approached her, the New York Police Department said. One of the suspects pulled out a sharp object and the pair unleashed their vicious attack, police said.

Shocking NYPD video shows the victim on the ground as one of the men repeatedly kicks and punches her. The suspect with the blade can be seen simultaneously and repeatedly stabbing her. The assault continues as the woman tries to pull herself off the ground, video shows.

The suspects then rush off, leaving the woman on the blood-riddled pavement. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital and was expected to survive.

She told police she was intoxicated at the time and could not fully remember details of what had transpired, sources said Friday. Police are investigating what, if anything, preceded the attack.

Investigators described one of the attackers as wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt and pants and a white shirt, with white Adidas sneakers. His accomplice wore a dark plaid shirt, dark pants and light-colored shoes.
