Anti-Trump MSNBC host Joy Reid thinks rural Americans are 'core threat' to democracy

MSNBC host Joy Reid thinks that rural Americans are “the core threat to our democracy” and pointed to a series of tweets by liberal author Jared Yates Sexton that claimed Trump supporters “do not believe in the Constitution or any founding principles unless they're advantageous” as proof of her far-left theory.

“By 2040, about 70% of Americans are expected to live in the 15 largest states. They will have only 30 senators representing them, while the remaining 30% of Americans will have 70 senators representing them,” MSNBC producer Kyle Griffin tweeted over the weekend.

Reid, who tweets so often that it’s amazing she finds time to do anything else, has a feed that is essentially the anti-Trump talking points of the far left on a daily basis. While Sexton never specifically mentioned the “rural minority” in his rant, the MSNBC host took it upon herself to quote Griffin’s tweet add her own commentary tied to Sexton's thread.

“This is the core threat to our democracy. The rural minority -- the people @JYSexton just wrote a long thread about -- have and will continue to have disproportionate power over the urban majority,” Reid tweeted.

Reid said gerrymandering reform and “the abolition of the Electoral College would be a start” when engaging with followers on how to fix the issue.

The Resurgent editor, radio host and Fox News contributor Erick Erickson responded, “Griffin's original tweet and Reid's response highlight a core threat to our constitutional system: basic ignorance.”


Reid seems to use hateful rhetoric on a regular basis and has called Trump supporters “deplorables,” claimed that living in Trump’s America is the “worst time to be a human” in the history of the world and even referred to the Trump administration as “the apocalypse” in recent memory.

While outwardly mocking Middle America, Reid pointed to the Twitter rant of the man who recently published an anti-Trump book titled, “The People Are Going to Rise Like the Waters Upon Your Shore,” that reflects on the Trump movement. Sexton recently tweeted that “Midwesterners put up Confederate flags” because of “racism” but also “dream of being able to rise up and remake this country into a fascist place.” However, that comment was tweeted after Sexton inspired Reid with his 22-tweet thread.

“With Trump's base showing strong preferences for authoritarianism, and continuing to support a serial predator of children, it's time to look this problem in its face,” Sexton wrote to kick off the thread that inspired the MSNBC host to mock rural Americans. “This isn't a political problem. This is a societal issue, a major, major existential problem with who we are and how we view the world.”

He continued, saying the problem isn’t about Democrats and Republicans but rather “a substantial group in this country who are okay with a president who would stamp out free speech, free press, and are comfortable with foreign influence and collusion.” Sexton said the people he was referencing don’t care about mass shootings, support fascism and “didn't blink when a woman was murdered by white supremacists,” -- an apparent reference to the killing in Charlottesville, Va., last August.

“They only care about our laws and customs when they help them. They do not believe in the Constitution or any founding principles unless they're advantageous,” he wrote. “They've always been here. They've been slaveholders. They've been confederates. They've been our neighbors. They've been our family.”

He continued: “Republicans fostered them as a means to push their policies and leveraged their worst instincts. Now, they've lost hold of the leash and have been taken over from the inside.”

Sexton said Trump “didn’t create” the issue but “is the total personification of this worldview.”

The liberal author added, “there's literally no telling what they'll stand by” and noted that “there are Americans who hold Adolf Hitler in high regard” because he had “good” ideas.

“If people like Trump continue to push them further, there's literally no telling what they'll allow or what they'll support. This is how a democracy backslides into a fascist state,” Sexton wrote.

Erickson wrote, “To have a national ‘news’ host call rural America a ‘core threat’ to our democracy is both striking arrogance and striking ignorance.”

 

It would seem rural America has the same view of city folks.

 

Well, the arrogant elite liberals are still struggling with the reason why so many Americans in "fly over country" voted for Trump over their messiah, Clinton.

1) They were voting against Clinton, not for Trump.
2) Contrary to the idea that they do not support the constitution, the "gaping hinds in flyover country" very much support the constitution, and the legal system. They in fact expect all of it to apply to all Americans equally; politicians included. Especially politicians.

‘Morning Joe’ Called Out For Pre-Taping Post-Thanksgiving Show



Morning Joe hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough routinely had their usual banter on their daily show on the day after Thanksgiving, talking about their turkey day festivities. They shared fun anecdotes about the annual holiday. The only problem was Thanksgiving had yet to happen.

Usually taped live five days a week, Morning Joe discusses up-to-the-minute current events, but for the post-Thanksgiving show, viewers noticed that the usual “Live” graphic was missing, giving hints that the show was pre-taped. Also, they noticed that amidst Brzezinski saying she was “stuffed” from her Thanksgiving meal and Scarborough and co-host Willie Geist sharing their turkey cooking methods, they weren’t discussing the terrorist attack on a mosque in Egypt, which was the biggest story of the day — because it didn’t happen yet. However, it was included in the news crawl that was added later.

According to the Washington Post, MSNBC declined to comment about the not-so-live taping, but an executive confirmed that the program indeed wasn’t live. “There was no intention to trick viewers,” she said. “Would it have helped if there was a disclaimer? Maybe. But that’s not typically done.”

This past June a Media frenzy began when it was revealed that Morning Joe had been divorced since 2013 and Mika Brzezinski was quietly divorcing her husband James Hoffer. Rumors of their romance had been floating around for some time. This was Joe’s second one having divorced his first wife, Melanie Hinton in 1999.

Most viewers of Morning Joe’s show do not know he once served as a U.S. Congressman from Florida’s 1st District from 1995 until he suddenly resigned only 5 months into his 4th term in September 2001. His reason? The classic “In order to spend more time with his children”

Curiously, just 2 months before this occurred:

"FORT WALTON BEACH, FL. - Lori Klausutis, a 28-year-old office worker for Rep. Joe Scarborough (R-Fl), was found dead in the congressman's district office. Police said preliminary findings from the medical examiner's office showed no foul play or any outward indication of suicide."

Naturally worldwide focus shifted for weeks and months as Americans & the world tried to comprehend and cope with the horrific loss of life and catastrophic events of that day.

However, the Media’s relentless scrutiny and insinuations cost Condit his re-election in 2002, even though Levy’s murderer was later found and convicted while Morning Joe’s mysterious case vanished into thin air.

Why?

Begin with former Medical Examiner Dr. Michael Berkland whose autopsy results help bury Lori and all legitimate questions surrounding her death.

Who is Dr. Michael Berkland?

He was a Pathologist whose medical license in the state of Missouri had been revoked in 1998 as a result of Berkland reporting false information regarding brain tissue samples in a 1996 autopsy report. Berkland never denied the charges.

He moved to Florida in 1997 and in July 1999, Berkland was suspended from his position as Medical Examiner in the State of Florida. Yet in 2001 he was issuing reports on Klausutis’s death that were questionable if not downright false.

Berkland continued to get into trouble and in 2003 not only was he fired but had his license as Medical Examiner withdrawn.

It is more than fair to question the competency and accuracy of any and all Dr. Berkland’s autopsy reports especially given the inconsistent reports of Lori’s health prior to her death. Joe himself said that Lori had a "complicated medical history" including "stroke and epilepsy," though this was absolutely not true.

To this day no one truly knows how and why a healthy 28 year old woman died in her boss’s office?

These THREE questions have never been adequately answered:

1. If Lori's death was just a simple accident, then why did Rep. Scarborough and his spokesman Miguel Serrano feel the need to go to two different local TV stations within three hours of her body's being found and invent a nonexistent history of chronic medical conditions for her - in other words - why did they feel the need to lie about Lori's health?

2. Would you trust without question the word of a Medical Examiner who lost his ME license in two separate states (Missouri and Florida) because he LIED about his autopsy work and results.

3. Why should whoever wrote Ms. Klausutis's obituary feel it was appropriate to mention nearly everything about her life -- EXCEPT where she'd been working since 1999, i.e with Congressman Scarborough?

4. Dr. Berkland and his supervisor at the time, Dr. Gary Cumberland were known to be high-giving donors to Scarborough’s Congressional campaigns. Did their relationship with Scarborough influence any and all the results issued by the M.E.’s Office?

Lori Klausutis was a smart and loving young woman whose life ended way too soon. Doesn’t she deserve justice and doesn’t her family deserve to know ALL the facts surrounding her death?

No one knows if Morning Joe had anything to do with her death, but the manner in which authorities handled the press shows one thing. Without all the facts they gave Morning Joe a FULL PARDON. It is doubtful they would do the same for an Ordinary Joe.
