‘Welcome to the New Gilead’: Joy Reid Throws Kitchen Sink at ‘Death Cult’ GOP for ‘Pro-Life Lie’

“Welcome to the new Gilead,” Joy Reid, declared, kicking off about segment on Mississippi’s controversial abortion law and the pro-life movement.

The MSNBC host had previously claimed the religious right is “dreaming of a theocracy” à la the country of Gilead, which practices systematic rape and torture in the book and HBO series, The Handmaid’s Tale.

“Women are not welcome here,” said Reid on Friday night. “Correction: women who do not exist solely as vessels for a fetus are not welcome here.

Reid addressed this week’s oral arguments over Mississippi’s abortion law before the U.S. Supreme Court. The law bans most abortions in the state after 15 weeks, which is about eight weeks sooner than the threshold allowed under Roe v. Wade. The consensus among the legal observers is that Roe will be substantially weakened, if not outright overturned when the court announces its decision in June.

Reid said if Republicans were actually pro-life, they’d support robust social programs, gun control, and President Biden’s Build Back Better agenda:

Republicans love to say that they’re pro-life. But the more accurate term is that they’re pro-birth. Because once that baby is born, they stop caring. And depending on the color of your skin, they may not even see you as fully human. If they did care about children after they’re born, they would be supporting universal health care, social services, food for kids whose families can’t afford it, fully funding education and gun reform so kids don’t have do mass shooter drills at school. They would support the Build Back Better agenda, which invests in housing and the environment and acts as the biggest expansion of affordable health care in a decade. Alas, not one Republican voted for the that bill.

The MSNBC host said Republicans are “anti-choice” and have “passed regressive policies that harm women, children, and families by taking choices away from them.”

Citing the Republican response to gun violence and the pandemic, Reid suggested the GOP is “pro-death”

“You don’t get to be a death cult while waving the pro-life flag, especially when the flag was never about abortion to begin with… It was only about orchestrating a rallying cry to politicize evangelicals, which is why the pro-life lie by a death cult party is the absolute worst.”

'Mark Meadows had a really bad day': MSNBC analyst says ex-Trump staffer accidentally blew up his executive privilege claims

    Travis Gettys
    December 10, 2021

    www.youtube.com
The House select committee released documents that circulated inside the White House laying out plans to steal the 2020 election, and MSNBC's Claire McCaskill said that was one more big piece of evidence against former chief of staff Mark Meadows.

The PowerPoint slides, which Meadows referred to in an email provided to the panel, reveal a plan for Donald Trump to declare a national emergency to delay the certification of Joe Biden's election win, and the former Democratic senator said the evidence was damning.

"Mark Meadows had a really bad day yesterday," McCaskill told "Morning Joe." "When you read that opinion, if a unanimous court of appeals from the D.C. Circuit says what it said about executive privilege then Mark Meadows is on very, very shaky ground where he tries to now retreat and say, 'Hey, I don't have to cooperate because of executive privilege.' You know, you can waive the privilege, given all these documents. There is going to be a vote to hold him in contempt at the beginning of the week."

"You know, he's had a bad week because clearly the president didn't like it that he told everyone he had been very, very sick and, frankly, kept it from people that threatens people's lives," she added. "Now he's not in a strong position trying to hide from this committee after they've gotten all this important information from him. I think the biggest argument against him is he waived the privilege by providing the documents he already has."

Its now just the details of the coup instructions its that Trump and treasonous conservative/Republicans had actually implemented it and were well on their way to overthrowing the results of a free and fair election and installing Trump dictator for life. And they have the gall to try and claim they are patriots. When the reality is they are traitors.

Appearing on MSNBC on Sunday, former Republican National Committee head Michael Steele laughed at the predicament former Donald Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows has found himself in after turning over information to the House committee investigating the former president's attempt at staging a coup in order to stay in office.

As Steele noted, Meadow's new book isn't helping matters for the former GOP lawmaker who is trying to avoid testifying under oath.

With host Jonathan Capehart promoting, "If it were going to my lawyer, I would be quaking in my boots," Steele began, "I think he is concerned about that. There's no doubt Meadows finds himself in a situation that he has created."

"You can look at the early behavior from the book launch to his turning over all these documents that he was repositioning himself to come clean," Steele elaborated. "He was beginning to buy into the narrative that Trump would be less of a factor inside the GOP until he realized he wasn't and that became clear after he released his book and then went out and said that his own book was fake news after Trump called him out."

Laughing the former GOP official continued, "I mean, how dumb do you have to be to write a book and then said, 'oh, no, I just made all that up'? It makes no sense. So he finds himself now in this situation where he's given over all of these documents, and this is -- I know a lot of people are anxious about the January 6th committee, but give it time, folks because they're sitting on a treasure trove of information and they are making the moves they're making because they know what they know and everybody else doesn't know what they know because they turned -- they don't know what Mark's turned over versus what this group over here's turned over."

Former FBI official unleashes on Trump's coup: 'I've been careful — but this was a subversion of our military'

Former FBI official Frank Figliuzzi said on Monday that while he has so far withheld assigning blame to President Donald Trump for the security failures that occurred on Jan. 6, new reports about how the White House wanted to use the National Guard have changed his mind.

"Make no bones about it," Figliuzzi said during an appearance on MSNBC. "I have been measured. I have been careful. I'm an evidence guy. But I'm now seeing the evidence, and this was an attempt to subvert the military for an authoritarian purpose. That's not good."

The conversation was about the requests for National Guard soldiers to help back up police officers at the U.S. Capitol during the attack, and about former Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows's belief that the National Guard should be on hand to protect Trump supporters.

"I think Americans, who are generally attuned to things going the right way, the system, the process, the rule of law, maybe glossed over the May testimony and now need to get hit over the head with it, but that blow to the head has just come," he continued. "Let me assure you. You can't do both. You can't say, well, the Guard's going to be on call to protect the protesters when you're watching the fact that there's violence coming. You know it's coming. You know there's no counterprotest planned. You can't do both. You need to protect the target from the threat. The target was the United States Capitol and the peaceful transition of power in a presidential election. That's the way this works. We've been hit over the head with the truth about what the National Guard was going to be deployed for, and it is a subversion of our military."

He went on to explain that Meadows's communications also revealed that he was talking to the Justice Department desperately trying to find fraud, making it clear that he couldn't find any.

"We were all over it. We looked for it. It's not there," said Figliuzzi. "After that, he's saying, no, no, no. You need to find the fraud. So we've got a guy who now is being placed at the center of not only the big lie but the violence on Jan 6. He is becoming a major player, not a peripheral player."

You guys missed it. Elizabeth Warren was just on Joy Reid explaining why overturning Roe V Wade is proof we need to expand the Supreme Court and the way to do that is to vote for Democrats.

And poo poo as you might but I kind of follow these things and I damn sure never thought of some of those arguments.

Are you catching the drift here?

Donald Trump is 'freaking out' -- and with good reason: MSNBC legal analyst

    Sarah K. Burris
    December 20, 2021

Former Solicitor General Neal Katyal explained to MSNBC on Monday that former President Donald Trump is in an awkward place with his legal problems where he's quickly running out of options.

"When you have [Adam] Kinzinger saying, [Rep. Liz] Cheney saying they are looking at crimes, what crimes are possible?" asked Alecia Manendez.

Katyal explained that the major crime is the 18 US Code 1505, obstructing an official proceeding.

"It doesn't take a rocket scientist to learn Donald Trump today is, to use the technical legal term, freaking out," he mocked. "He is freaking out because of the revelations that you just mentioned a moment ago. Also because there was a decision ten days ago by the federal court in Washington, D.C. by a Trump appointee and what the judge said is that one of the insurrectionists was guilty of violating this statute obstruction of an official proceeding, the count of votes on Jan. 6."

He noted that the judge also explained that the insurrectionist clearly intended to try and stop the count and that it doesn't require a lawyer proving the person did or didn't intend violence. With or without violence, the person acted with corrupt intent to stop the counting of votes. That, he explained, is the manual for prosecuting Trump.

"That is what he is worried about and why you see all of these moves by Trump and his allies today," Katyal said.

Trump as a normal citizen doesn't have any authority, which is another problem for him. His normal playbook doesn't work if he's not the one in control.

"Our entire constitutional system is set up to basically trust presidents and give them immense powers even to delay litigation or court cases against themselves because we don't want random people to tie up the president and stop the nation's business from being done," Katyal said. "That is why our system was written as it is. It wasn't written for someone like Donald Trump who abuses every lever in the system to delay, obstruct, and prevent things. That is one thing when you're president. You got that suite of tools available. He doesn't have them anymore."

Trump 'more off the rails than usual' after Liz Cheney hinted at criminal charges: MSNBC analyst

    John Wright
    December 22, 2021

    www.youtube.com
Last week, Wyoming Republican Rep. Liz Cheney hinted at potential criminal charges for former president Donald Trump stemming from a congressional investigation into the Capitol insurrection.

Specifically, Cheney questioned whether Trump "through action or inaction corruptly sought to obstruct or impede Congress' official proceeding to count electoral votes" on Jan. 6.

Appearing on MSNBC on Tuesday night, former acting U.S. solicitor general Neal Katyal explained that Cheney was referring to a federal statute that makes it a felony, punishable by up to 20 years in prison, to obstruct an official proceeding.

Katyal noted that three judges, including two nominated by Trump, have recently found that Capitol rioters potentially violated the statute, regardless of whether they intended violence, merely by endeavoring to stop the certification of President Joe Biden's victory.

"The other thing she's saying is, it's not just Trump's action, but his inaction," Katyal added. "Trump is saying, I guess his defense is, 'Look, I didn't light the match.' But what Cheney is saying is, 'Look, at least you sat in front of the fire truck toasting marshmallows if you didn't light the match.'"

"He wasn't exactly advocating the crowd to march to the Capitol and, like, count the votes," Katyal said. "He was urging them to stop that count, and so that runs you squarely into a federal crime. That's why Cheney's remarks are so important, and why Donald Trump this week has been, even by his own standards, more off the rails than usual."

Katyal went on to say that he believes it's likely the Jan. 6 committee will determine that Trump violated the statute, at which point it will be their duty to make a criminal referral to the Department of Justice.

"I know that's a very serious thing," he said. "I don't say that lightly. But that's because what happened on Jan. 6 was deadly serious."

People Demand Rachel Maddow, MSNBC Apologize for False COVID Comments
By Nick Arama | Dec 28, 2021 9:00 PM ET

Today is an interesting day, with leftist heroes getting called out for having clay feet.

I wrote earlier about how the left had a meltdown over the comments of Dr. Anthony Fauci. Fauci admitted that the CDC had changed the guidelines to shorten the isolation time required after people tested positive for COVID from 10 days to five days if they were asymptomatic to be able to get more people back to work earlier.
That caused many on the left to castigate him for what they termed an economic decision rather than a public health decision. They claimed he and the Biden administration were caving to CEOs and endangering workers. But it made them question what he’s been saying. You even had folks like Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) questioning him.

But Fauci wasn’t the only one facing criticism today. The other person was Rachel Maddow. However, it wasn’t for anything that she said recently; it was for comments that she made back in March that people were now calling into question.

Viewers were demanding an apology from Maddow and MSNBC for this video from March 29, in which she claimed that if you were vaccinated, it would stop the virus in its tracks and prevent transmission.

Maddow said, “Now we know that the vaccines work well enough that the virus stops with every vaccinated person.”

“A vaccinated person gets exposed to the virus, the virus does not infect them, the virus cannot then use that person to go anywhere else,” she continued. “It cannot use a vaccinated person as a host to go get more people.” Maddow stated that vaccines “would get us to the end of this,” meaning the end of the pandemic.

This is just untrue. While the transmission is allegedly less likely, vaccinated people can still get the virus and spread it.

Many wondered why this video was still up and why Maddow had never been nailed by Twitter for spreading misinformation. People pointed out while many other people in media without Maddow’s profile are put under a censorship gun, particularly if they are on the right, Maddow seemed to be able to skate with such outrageously wrong information, long after it was clear that this information was untrue.

“It’s wild how there are no consequences for all these vaccine lies,” sports journalist Clay Travis tweeted. “If you wonder why many are skeptical of the covid ‘vaccine’ it’s because they remember what they were told about how effective the vaccine was. All that Rachel Maddow says here is untrue.” “Will she retract her statement and apologize?” Fox News host Rachel Campos-Duffy asked.

While Maddow has never been punished for it being misinformation, as far as we can tell, the man who shared it — Lincoln Network co-founder and president Aaron Ginn — got suspended for 12 hours after he posted about the tweet. It seems pointing out that Maddow puts out fake news is suspension-worthy, although the fake news that she spread is not.

Of course, Maddow and MSNBC are havens of misinformation — it’s not as though this is the only piece. But it does show once again how there are different standards when it comes to those on the left and the right in such matters, and how the liberal media will rarely call out any of their own.

Rachel Maddow: Will the Republican Party pay for Ivanka and Don Jr's legal fees too?

    Sarah K. Burris
    January 03, 2022

Ivanka Trump speaking to the RNC Convention from the White House, behind a lectern with the Presidential Seal.

New York Attorney General Letitia James warned President Donald Trump and his children that she intends to pursue swift action to compel their testimony or hold them in contempt. The statement made it clear that if the Trump family thinks they can get away without testifying in the Trump Organization fraud case, they are sadly mistaken.

MSNBC host Rachel Maddow brought up the legal problems that Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump are facing.

"There is also a parallel criminal investigation into Trump's business practices being run by state prosecutors in Manhattan," Maddow recalled along with the attorney general's civil fraud case. "That investigation is being taken over by the new district attorney in Manhattan who was just sworn in this weekend, his name is Alvin Bragg ... Here is where it gets tricky four former President Trump and his two adult kids. If they give testimony in the New York Attorney General's civil investigation, that testimony could potentially be used against them in the criminal case. But if they refuse to testify to the attorney general, if they take the Fifth [Amendment], that very refusal could be used against them in the civil case. Then again, the civil case could be just as serious in terms of its implications for the Trump Organization. As of tonight, they're opting for door number three. The Trumps have filed a motion to the court to try to quash these subpoenas."

Maddow went on to cite a Dec. report that showed Republican donors paid $1.6 million for Trump's legal fees. That report was only a recent accounting because a Sept. 2021 report from the New York Times revealed that since 2015 the GOP has spent about $60 million in Trump's legal fees and compliance. The Republican Party made a deal with Trump to pay for all of his legal fees if he promised not to start a competing political party to the GOP, according to a book, "Betrayal," written by ABC News correspondent Jonathan Karl.

"Here is my question: now that his kids have been subpoenaed as well, what do you think the odds are that Trump is going to figure out how to get the Republican Party to pay his kids' legal fees as well?" she asked. "Dad doesn't have to pay his legal fees. Republican donors pay for those. But Ivanka and Don Jr. have to pay for their own lawyers? It seems so unfair. What are the odds, right?"

‘Do you realize you’re describing a coup?’ Peter Navarro gets schooled during train wreck MSNBC interview

    John Wright
    January 04, 2022

White House trade adviser Peter Navarro. (Fox Business screengrab)

Former Trump trade adviser Peter Navarro appeared on MSNBC on Tuesday night to explain his plan to overturn President Joe Biden's victory — dubbed "the Green Bay sweep."

It didn't go well for Navarro.

Asked by host Ari Melber to explain the "Green Bay sweep," Navarro claimed he compiled a report beginning in late November 2020 that "proved that the election was in all likelihood stolen through fraud and election irregularities."

"That's false!" Melber responded, cutting off Navarro. "The question is, what was the plan itself and who was in on it?"

Navarro went on to explain that 100 GOP lawmakers were prepared to "implement the sweep," by challenging the election results in six battleground states on Jan. 6.

Melber eventually cut him off again.

"You just described this plan as a way to take an election where the outcome was established by independent secretaries of state, by the voters of those states, and legal remedies had been exhausted, with the Supreme Court never even taking let alone siding with any of the claims you just referred to," Melber said. "So legally they went nowhere. Then, you will use the incumbent losing party's power — that was the Republican Party that was losing power — to overtake and reverse that outcome. Do you realize you're describing a coup?"

Navarro denied Melber's allegation, claiming that some secretaries of state "were put in power by George Soros with the express purpose of shifting the playing field."

"We were following the Constitution and rules of the Senate to simply get a recount of what the votes were," Navarro claimed.

Melber then noted that Trump adviser Steve Bannon is "risking going to jail rather than just provide testimony about" the plan to overturn the election.

"You by contrast are describing it in your book, some of the same stuff," Melber said. "I don't know what he's afraid of that you're not. But when you describe in your book a system where after all the legal remedies are exhausted, the people who lost just make noise and say that they won and seize power, don't you understand that if that actually were the system, it would be dumb and dangerous?"

"We have an entire system designed to thwart — and I want to say this respectfully, but it's the truth — people like you," Melber added. "To stop people like you who think that you can anoint themselves the reviewers of the voters, of the American people, of what they lawfully did, that you trump the Supreme Court. People like you are what the Constituions is designed to stop, and it worked, it did stop you."

'That was not folksy Joe Biden': MSNBC panelists call Jan. 6 speech a forceful 'dissection of Trump'

    Sarah K. Burris
    January 06, 2022

MSNBC panelists and host Stephanie Ruhle noted that the speech from President Joe Biden about Jan. 6 was his most emphatic, clearest and forceful dissection of Donald Trump's lies.

Speaking Thursday, Biden said, "No one can place a dagger on the throat of democracy."

"It was clearly the most forceful rebuke that he has delivered in his year as president against Trump, against Trumpism, against the lie over the election and against the divide in the country that we're experiencing," said Washington Post reporter Phil Rucker. "It was a rhetorically very forceful speech, it was the kind of remark that I think a lot of Democrats have been hoping to hear from Biden for some time. What we saw here was President Biden clearly believing that his predecessor, Donald Trump -- the threat of American democracy and using that moment the anniversary and the attention that it has around the country to try to galvanize Americans to understand that threat and to fight to protect what he perceived as democracy and peril."

New York Times reporter Peter Baker noted that Biden has worked so hard to try and keep his eyes focused on the future and not look to the past. That clearly changed in one speech.

"I think what he's seen in the last year is that you can't simply pretend that President Trump has gone away because he hasn't gone away, he is still not only a force in American politics, he is the leading figure in the Republican Party and if he wants the nomination in 2024 to run for the presidency again," Rucker continued. "I think most people believe he will be the like least person to win that nomination for the Republican Party. You cannot pretend that he doesn't exist anymore. This is the most full-throated denunciation by the sitting president, the former president of what we've seen from him."

Ruhle noted that it wasn't the typical "folksy Joe Biden" to which Americans have become accustomed.

    Buh-Bye, Joy Reid!
By Nick Arama | Jan 06, 2022 9:30 PM ET

I bring you some happy news.

According to sources breaking out of Comcast, MSNBC’s Joy-less Reid is going to get the ax. Her show is going to go bye-bye because they finally just had enough with her.

Now, obviously, I’ll caveat it with this isn’t an official word yet, but John Nicosia of News Cycle Media is the one reporting it and he generally has great sources when it comes to things like this.

“Joy Reid will lose her 7p show in the next round of reshuffling at MSNBC,” Nicosia tweeted quoting a source. “She does not have a show come mid Spring.” He said the “decision has been made, the only thing left is messaging on the move, which will be ratings. As was the case with Chris Cuomo at CNN, Reid has allies at Comcast, however, she is now viewed as “unmanageable” by many. Also, similar to Cuomo, it appears those allies have found out she has been “less than truthful about past incidents.”

Now that sounds quite intriguing. Have they finally found out that her blog with the homophobic and other objectionable posts wasn’t hacked as she claimed? Is that the “less than truthful about past incidents” part?

Of course, there are many possibilities because she’s been “less than truthful” about so many things, it might be hard to choose what they could whack her for, there are so many reasons for which they could if they were an honest and credible network.

Just in the past week, you had her show putting out the lie that Officer Brian Sicknick died as a result of injuries inflicted on him on Jan. 6 during the Capitol riot. Then Reid also promoted the ridiculous “Ron DeSantis is missing” conspiracy. Let’s also not forget her crazed rant about Kyle Rittenhouse, Brett Kavanaugh, and “white male tears.

MSNBC puts out a ton of bull, but even for them, Joy Reid’s level of bull has to be embarrassing.

Nicosia said to expect — as happened with Chris Cuomo and CNN — that MSNBC/Comcast will defend her right up until they dump her.

I had to share a few of the better takes from the choir. But you can read the joy.

I have to admit this was not journalism but was kind of fun entertainment. Maxine Waters is kind of like the left's MTG except she's not stupid ignorant mentally ill and a traitor to the United States of America. But still a bomb thrower that likes to send the right into apoplexy.

WATCH: MSNBC Host Interviews Maxine Waters, Spends Nearly Two Full Segments Teeing Up GOP Soundbites for Her to Dunk On
    By Joe DePaoloJan 9th, 2022, 1:23 pm

An MSNBC anchor interviewed a member of congress on his program Sunday and spent the majority of the conversation simply teeing up cable news clips one after the next — essentially inviting that House Democrat to dunk on the opposing party for nearly two full segments.

Jonathan Capehart, host of The Sunday Show on MSNBC, spoke with Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) on this week’s edition of his program and asked her to weigh in on a series of cable news clips featuring Republicans making outrageous comments. First up was House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy — who said earlier in the morning on Fox News that “we have covid spiking, closed schools, and a crippled economy, and the Democrats’ number one focus is still exactly where they’ve always been, H.R. 1, to change the election laws.”

“I would love, congresswoman, to hear your reaction to your fellow Californian,” Capehart said.

“I think it is absolutely shameful that he’s carrying [former President Donald] Trump’s lie,” Waters replied. “I think it’s absolutely shameful that he’s coming on this morning with talking points and undermining voting rights.”

Capehart immediately transitioned to comments from Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) in which he more-or-less groveled for forgiveness to Tucker Carlson after calling the January 6 attackers “terrorists.” The MSNBC anchor seized on Cruz calling his own phrasing “sloppy and dumb.”

    “Congresswoman, sloppy?” Capehart asked, laughing.

Waters blasted the Texas senator, but also seemed to mildly critique Capehart’s line of inquiry.

“I don’t even know why we pay any attention to him,” Waters said.

Capehart proceeded to play a clip of Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) telling Steve Bannon that he is “proud of the work” he did on January 6, 2021 and is “ashamed of nothing.” At that point, the MSNBC host gave up even asking questions.

“Okay congresswoman, have at it,” he said.

“They are not representing even their constituents,” Waters said. “And so Gaetz needs to shut up.”

If devoting the entire first segment of their conversation to GOP soundbites wasn’t enough, Capehart came out of commercial and played yet another clip of a Republican making an absurd remark – this time enlisting the help of two panelists, along with Waters, to make some very obvious points. In an interview with Bartiromo, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) dramatically downplayed the events of January 6 and floated a baseless conspiracy theory about House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) being complicit.

“It was a false narrative [that] there were thousands of armed insurrectionists,” Johnson said. “There weren’t. That is not what an armed insurrection would look like … That was a narrative that quite honestly served both sides. Anybody that was responsible for Capitol security was pretty well happy to sign on to thousands of armed insurrectionists — because what could they possibly have done? And the commission in the House now is a joke. They’re not asking what Nancy Pelosi knew and when she knew it.”

“Jesus take the wheel,” Capehart said after the clip. He then set up all of his panelists to dunk on Johnson, adding, “I don’t even know what kind of nonsense that was.”

After all three panelists mocked Johnson, Capehart commendably moved on to an issue of substance — the debate over whether to eliminate the filibuster to pass voting rights legislation. This, unquestionably, was a far more productive use of the congresswoman’s time than simply having her do the Republican-bashing that MSNBC hosts can very capably handle themselves.

    Yes.
Yes, your neighbor is indeed an asshole.
But you gotta admit, he has good reason to be an asshole.
After the way you treated his cat.
You gotta admit, that was pretty hardcore.
Funny as hell, but still .............
