So we don't live near my wifes family. Her sister has had a pretty rough 10 years or so, drugs etc etc.
The last arrest was prostitution... now we haven't had sex since that arrest (end of May). Any time anything initiates, her mind instantly goes to her sisters arrest and the ungodly events that happened.

Any ideas? Maybe counseling? I don't know, trying to be as sensitive to the issue as possible.

Well I wouldn't normally suggest a porn forum for this topic, but we're here already right! Way too many details missing to know for sure, but it's clear that she is having some mental/emotional disconnect because of what her sister is going through...unfortunate, but not surprising. Yes, some type of counselor or treatment would certainly be a good idea and it's important that you know the game plan so you can help move things along. Good luck!

 

Wow, it's really unfortunate that this is impacting your wife so much. I thing counseling is really a good option to try. It certainly can't hurt, and it might help her deal with whatever emotions she is struggling with.

It's a trauma response. If you google it. (I have done that before) looking for answers myself. It will relate it to PTSD. I have never went to try to get any kind of diagnosis or anything. But who would want to know if they had such a thing? Not me. Counseling could probably help. Maybe idk. I'm not sure why it would cause her to not want sex or if that is even related. I would think sex takes your mind off things. Even for a brief moment. Possibly due to the reason her sister had gotten in trouble. One thing i will suggest is that you be a place of comfort for her to turn to. Make sure she knows you are there for her. I feel for both of you. Best wishes in coping with things.

It’s most likely on her mind all the time, but you just notice it then because she can’t relax enough to get in the mood. These are serious family problems and it sounds like they are weighing heavily on her. You should probably cut her some slack and give her some time. It has only been 3 weeks. And help her to relax! That could help the situation. Does she like neck massages or foot rubs? Try that or anything else to ease some stress.
