Lots and lots of truly beautiful women dating back to the 30s I think. All beautiful and most talented (some could even act!) We have more than our share of beauties today if you count from 2000 to 2020. Some of which have talent (fewer than before) almost none of which can act. Television opened the door for attractive people with little or no talent and we accepted pretty over capable.

 

If I may, I'd like to add a bit more input to the assessment of Lee Remick, but especially of "Anatomy of a Murder."

The importance attached to this Preminger offering—which is one of two noteworthy films he directed during that dark decade within which (among many other sociopolitical factors) sexual repressiveness was an underpinning attitude, and "red scare" fomented—cannot be overstated. The first daring film was "The Moon is Blue" (1953). Both films directly challenged norms dictating what could and could not be addressed/discussed concerning sexuality and sensuality within American pop cultural medium. The films' attitudes, their subject matter and its associated "taboo" language, flew in the face of convention at the time. But mostly, Preminger, through these films, proverbially thumbed his nose at the so-called "Hays Code" and its studio cheerleaders. (Please visit a short articular I penned a few years ago for a little more on this subject here)

To my knowledge, "Anatomy of a Murder" was the first major studio film within which particularly racy words and phrases were frequently used. This would be judged tame by modern standards, but words/phrases like "panties," "rape," "slut," "sperm," "spermiogenesis," "semen," and "...the presence of sperm on the person of..." (Whoa! That last one! Be still my beating...heart!) pepper this biting script—that last one coming from "The Andy Griffith Show" character "Floyd, the barber" of all people! lol!

BTW; I have to take issue with you, Edward Sellon. I liked the film "Hard Contact" and liked Coburn's and Remick's performances.ツ

But, no matter what film she appeared in, Remick was a stunner!
