Psaki Has Pathetic Response to Olympic Athlete's Shameful National Anthem Display

As I reported yesterday, hammer thrower Gwen Berry who placed third at the Olympic trials in her event threw a hissy fit when the national anthem was played during her podium ceremony.


Here’s a picture of her snotty reaction to it – she turned her back when it was played. Then held up a black t-shirt saying “activist athlete” and draping it over her head.



Berry then threw a fit, suggesting that they were playing the anthem just to ‘disrespect’ her. “I feel like it was a set-up, and they did it on purpose,” Berry said. “I was pissed, to be honest… The anthem doesn’t speak for me. It never has.”

That prompted people to ask if she has such disrespect for our country, why does she want to compete for America in the Olympics? She made clear she only wants to promote her social justice agenda. In other words, more such displays. Some are reporting her as a BLM activist. So exactly why is the Olympic team sending her to Tokyo? Not to mention, why are you sending someone who’s so warped to think that they played the anthem just to annoy her? That’s twisted and psychologically off.

Berry was doing this for attention, but now she’s upset that it has drawn attention? She posted that tweet above that said “Stop playing with me” and then followed it up with this one, claiming people are obsessed with her.



Hey, if you don’t want the attention, then maybe you shouldn’t be asking for it?

Fox News’ Peter Doocy asked Jen Psaki what Joe Biden thought about what Berry had done. Her response was pathetic. She refused to condemn the action.



Biden is “incredibly proud to be an American and has great respect for the anthem and all that it represents, especially for our men and women serving in uniform all around the world,” Psaki claimed. “He would also say, of course, that part of that pride in our country means recognizing there are moments where we are, as a country, haven’t lived up to our highest ideals, and that means respecting the rights of people, granted to them in the Constitution, to peacefully protest.”

Now, first, we should note that Psaki isn’t even giving an original answer, she’s plagiarizing their prior answer to another similar incident.

You don’t have a right to compete in the Olympics, it’s a privilege. The Committee should pick people who will comport themselves with dignity and represent the country with honor. Rule 50 of the International Olympic Committee rules forbids political displays. She’s already indicated she might make more such displays in Tokyo.

But you have Biden basically backing her position, he/Jen Psaki didn’t even say ‘I disagree with her position even if she has the right to say it.’

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) responded:

‘Why does the Left hate America?

‘Sure, we have our faults, but no nation in the history of the world has liberated more people from captivity, has lifted more out of poverty, has bled more for freedom, or has blessed more w/ abundance. God bless America.

That’s the proper response and the one that Biden should have given. But the Biden team always embraces that which disparages America, rather than pointing to the things that have made us the greatest force for freedom in the world. This has hurt us in our dealings with the rest of the world. That unfortunately is what we have “leading” this country now.

Tara Reade, the former Senate staffer who alleged last year that Joe Biden sexually assaulted her in 1993, fired back at White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki after she praised the president as an "advocate" for women who've been subjected to violence.

Following the shocking Pennsylvania Supreme Court decision that overturned the sexual assault conviction of disgraced comedian Bill Cosby, Psaki declined to weigh in on the ruling itself at Wednesday's press briefing but spoke about Biden's activism in combatting violence against women as a nod to Cosby's victims.

"The president has long been an advocate for fighting against violence against women," Psaki told reporters. "For ensuring that we are raising the voices and the stories of people who have been survivors of sexual assault.

"That’s something [he] has done throughout his career and will continue to do," she added.


In a statement to Fox News, Reade slammed Psaki's comments.

"Psaki speaks for the man who is now POTUS who sexually assaulted me and I am sure she has heard me," Reade told Fox News. "She is complicit with rape culture by displaying her hypocrisy and the administration's hypocrisy regarding standing up for women when they are the perpetrators."

Psaki did not immediately respond to Fox News' request for comment. Both Biden and his presidential campaign previously denied Reade's allegations.

Reade also expressed solidarity to the nearly 60 victims who came forward with sexual misconduct allegations against Cosby, telling them "I am here for you."

"I am so sorry that you thought you had some measure of justice. It was ripped away," Reade said. "I understand what it is [like] to come forward about sexual assault committed by a powerful rich man… Survivors should not have their lives torn to shreds for telling the truth. The powerful and rich should not be rewarded for crimes they committed. I will stand up for all survivors and myself. They may break our hearts but they will not break our spirits. We will fight for survivors getting the justice they deserve."

She added, "We must end rape culture in America."


Reade, who wrote the recent memoir "Left Out: When the Truth Doesn't Fit In" about her experience coming forward with her assault allegation was one of eight women who came forward in 2019 to accuse the then-Democratic candidate of inappropriate touching.

A year later, Reade revealed her sexual assault claim on "The Katie Halper Show." Biden repeatedly denied her claims on the campaign trail.
