White House Lies Their Heads off When Confronted With Hypocrisy on Travel Bans




The White House is getting nailed on a variety of different issues from the weekend now that White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki had a briefing today.


As we reported earlier, Psaki ducked and weaved but couldn’t explain away why Biden was not masked inside of a Nantucket store, especially when he’s urging everyone to wear masks in the face of the new Omicron variant (or as he called it the ‘Omnicron’ variant).
The White House also got called out on the issue of putting travel bans in place after their prior criticism of the travel bans of President Donald Trump. Listen as White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki tries to explain how Trump travel bans were somehow ‘xenophobic’ but Biden bans are not.

Psaki claimed they weren’t criticizing travel bans but criticizing a “tweet” of President Donald Trump’s which she claimed was xenophobic.

“The president has not been critical of travel restrictions, we have put those in place ourselves,” Psaki claimed. “He believes we should follow the advice of health and medical experts. That’s exactly what he did in putting in place these restrictions over the weekend.”

That’s just a lie. She doesn’t point out what “tweet” was supposedly “xenophobic,” likely because there wasn’t one. Biden’s criticism calling Trump xenophobic came just hours after Trump cut travel with China on Jan. 31 during a campaign rally. Some suggest that Psaki might be talking about Trump referring to the China virus. But Biden’s criticism preceded Trump’s use of that term which isn’t xenophobic in any event.

The other problem with Psaki’s claim is that Biden was quite critical of travel bans, contrary to what Psaki is claiming now.

Indeed, he didn’t agree that travel bans were a good thing until April 3, and even then it wasn’t him, it was his team that did so. It took the Biden team that long to make a definitive statement on the question. Imagine if we had waited until April 2 and Biden coming around to the idea? It would have been far worse. It was because Trump was willing to take that action on Jan. 31, that he likely cut some transmission.

One can argue about the greater or lesser benefit of travel bans. What you can’t lie about is the fact that Biden was not a fan of the travel bans last year and he expressly criticized them. But suddenly, when he has to deal with the situation himself, now he is for the bans.

The other hypocritical thing about this is that Biden has imposed a ban only on African countries as to this new variant, yet the Omicron variant has been seen elsewhere as well, in multiple other countries including Israel and the Netherlands. Why is there only a ban on African countries? We know that if Trump were in charge, Biden would be screaming “racist!” Can we remind him how he criticized the African travel ban that Trump did have over lack of vetting and security?

Can we now scream “racist” at Joe Biden? Not to mention “hypocrite?”

 

You know even the press secretary and media are nervous about their man (woman) when they would rather lie than confront the truth.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was quick to scuttle Fox News’ anti-Biden propagandist after he tried to turn today’s news about then-President Donald Trump hiding the results of his positive COVID test barely days before standing on stage with Joe Biden at a Sept. 2020 debate into a story about President Joe Biden’s success in scuttling the pandemic.

“There’s a lot of talk about the first Trump-Biden debate today,” Doocy began. “But at the second one in 2021, roughly 220,000 Americans had already died of COVID. Joe Biden said about Trump, ‘anyone who was responsible for that many deaths should not remain as President of the United States of America.’ Is that still the standard now that more Americans have died under President Biden?

“I think the fundamental question here is what are you doing to save lives and protect people?” Psaki responded, with a tinge of anger. “And the former president was suggesting people inject bleach. He apparently, reportedly didn’t even share with people he was going to interact with that he had tested positive for COVID himself. He continued to provide a forum for misinformation, which probably led to people not getting, not taking steps forward to get to protect themselves, to wear a mask, to eventually get vaccinated. This President has made the vaccine widely available. He’s relied on the health – the advice of his health and medical experts, and he is trying to be a part of solving this crisis, getting the pandemic under control. And I think there’s a pretty stark difference between their approaches.”

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki ripped Georgia Governor Brian Kemp for his opposition to President Joe Biden’s Covid vaccine mandates.

Psaki briefed reporters on Friday, and wrapped up with the now-regular appearance of a local reporter via video chat. This time, it was Rafael Olavarría of Univision 23 Atlanta.

Mr. Olavarría asked Psaki what her message to Kemp’s opposition to the mandates would be, given the low vaccination rate and potential for spread of Omicron in the state:

MR. OLAVARRÍA: Hello, Secretary Psaki, and thank you for taking my question. I’ll ask you something that is a cause of concern for our communities here in Georgia.

As you probably know, our state is only — we have only 51 percent of our population fully vaccinated, and we even have counties where only 20 percent of our residents are vaccinated.

Yesterday, Dr. Cameron Webb from the White House COVID-19 Response Team told me that states like Georgia are potentially some of the most vulnerable ones to the new variant.

Nevertheless, our Governor, Brian Kemp, has been laser focused on fighting federal vaccine requirements, calling them “unlawful” and “unconstitutional.”

And as cases of Omicron variant increase in the U.S. and with Georgia as one of the most vulnerable states, I would like to know what is the White House’s message to Governor Kemp?

MS. PSAKI: Well, I would say our message to Governor Kemp is: If you’re not going to be a part of protecting the people of Georgia, ensuring that they can take steps to save their own lives, save their neighbors’ lives and their children’s, then you should get out of the way, because businesses are implementing steps across the country, including in Georgia, to put in place vaccine or testing requirements, hospital associations are, universities are, and people — and what we’ve seen as one of the biggest barriers — and this is something we can do from the federal government — is access.

So, our hope is that we can continue to work in a nonpartisan way with health officials in Georgia, as we do across the country, to incl- — increase and expand access to not just testing but also vaccination.

That’s something that we announced that we’re going to take additional steps on yesterday, and we’re looking forward to building on.

And it has been used to treat many ailments including, "viral diseases that attack the respiratory system." It has also been studied as a therapy for COVID-19.

It has been used intravenously (that means injected into the veins) as a treatment for cancer. While the data is inconclusive, this therapy and the previously mentioned work is the basis of Trump's statement. Yes, my simple friend, hydrogen peroxide has been studied as a treatment for COVID and it is sometimes injected into the bloodstream. But you can shoot up with bleach if you like.

When was Trump tested for COVID 19 and what were the results? And if he had a positive test and then a negative test was the result of the third test to see which of the other two tests was correct? White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki fielded questions from 5 different reporters on President Joe Biden’s health after the revelation that a baby had given him a cold.

Psaki briefed reporters shortly after the president was asked about his health by Fox News’ Peter Doocy, who noticed a drastic change in Biden’s voice the last couple of days.

“I’m okay. I have a test every day to see — a COVID test. I — they check me for all the strains. What I have is a one-and-a-half-year-old grandson who had a cold, who likes to kiss his Pop. And he’d been kissing my — anyway, so — but it’s just a cold,” Biden told Doocy.

TheWhite House press then sprang into action, as five of their ranks — including Doocy — pounced on Psaki hours later to get the real scoop.

The first several were on details about the president’s testing regimen, and then Doocy asked his follow-ups:

DOOCY: One more topic, to follow up on some of the questions from earlier. The President was hoarse and coughing today. A lot of people in the workforce are encouraged not to go to work if they are exhibiting those symptoms, even if they are fully vaccinated. So, are the rules different for the President?

MS. PSAKI: The President, again, was tested, as we put out in some — in a transparent piece of information from his doctor, where he received a response quickly from that test, enable him — enabling him to proceed. People also had — he had a cold, which is what you know from the information put out by the doctor.

DOOCY: But as you know from your own experience, it is possible to test negative several times before there’s a positive test. So is there any concern about having him at work while he’s got these symptoms, even if he is showing negative tests?

MS. PSAKI: I can assure you that the President follows every protocol. He wants to keep everyone safe in the White House. And that’s why, obviously, he — we consult with the doctor and we put out that information to make it available to all of you.

Then NBC News’ Peter Alexander weighed in, telling Psaki “Two last little thoughts just following up on the questions about his health. Obviously, like everybody else, we wish that he will get well soon.”

“The question though is: Given the fact that he has a cold right now, are there any things that are being done differently? Have meetings been scaled back? Is he doing something separately or does everything continue as planned, given the test?”

“It’s continuing as planned. He’s taking some over-the-counter cold medication and probably some cough drops and some tea. But otherwise, he’s proceeding with his schedule,” Psaki revealed.

Alexander asked one more about the president’s testing regimen, and then so did The New York Times‘ Michael Shear.

Psaki shuts down Fox's Peter Doocy after he whines about Fox News Christmas tree arson

Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy is carrying the burning of the far right wing cable channel’s Christmas tree in midtown Manhattan into the new week, and using it as a tool to try to blame President Joe Biden for the suspect’s release.

The plastic tree was set ablaze in the very early hours of Thursday. The suspect, a 49-year old homeless man with zero political agenda, a history of arrests including drug-related arrests, was captured almost immediately. That wasn’t good enough for Fox News, who spent days focused on the event, at one point even comparing it to the attack on Pearl Harbor that led the United States to enter World War II.

On Monday, Doocy tried to meld his network’s opposition to defunding police departments with “soft on crime” prosecutors because the Fox News Christmas tree fire suspect was charged but released.

“But I guess what good does it do if you’re gonna give police departments extra money if they arrest bad guys, and they bring ’em to jail, and then they’re not prosecuted? They’re just right back out on the streets,” complained Doocy – while being forced to admit that the Biden administration has worked to ensure police departments are being funded.

“I think Peter,” White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki replied, “what our focus is on is making sure that the local leaders, the police officers and departments who know what they need for these communities have the assistance and the funding they need and that’s what we’re working around the clock on.”

Still not satisfied, Doocy continued.

“We’ve seen an arsonist burn down a half a million dollar Christmas tree in New York City. Back out on the streets. Does the President think that that’s good governing?” he asked, as if President Biden is supposed to weigh in on the prosecutions of low-level criminals across the country.

At Monday’s White House briefing, Psaki answered questions on a variety of topics, including the storms that ravaged 6 states over the weekend.

But while Psaki was answering a question about the relationship between severe weather events and climate change, she got a visit from a music legend Jill Scott — in spirit, anyway:

Psaki didn’t miss a beat, continuing her answer on the effects of severe weather by telling reporters that it “is not a political thing because look at the communities that have been impacted: red, blue, purple, no color at all, communities that don’t consider themselves political in any way, shape, or form. And this is certainly a driving reason why we need to do more to address the climate crisis.”

Press secretaries have had to evolve as the prevalence of cell phones has increased. In 2009, then-Press Secretary Robert Gibbs confiscated conservative correspondent John Gizzi’s brick-sized phone after repeated interruptions, but by the time Jay Carney took over, the sounds of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five in the briefing room prompted no such sanction.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki had some tough words for Fox News hosts who knew that former President Donald Trump's supporters were responsible for the January 6th riots, but then chose to blame the riots on Antifa anyway.

After being asked about the bombshell text messages revealed on Monday night by the House Select Committee investigating the Capitol riots, Psaki didn't waste time slamming Fox News personalities such as Laura Ingraham and Sean Hannity for expressing concern about the riots in private while brushing them off to their viewers that very same day.

"It's disappointing, and unfortunately not surprising, that some of the very same individuals who were willing to mourn, condemn, and express horror over what happened on January 6 in private, were totally silent in public," she said. "Or, even worse, were spreading lies and conspiracy theories, and have continued to since that time."


The text messages, all of which were sent to former Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows, asked him to get Trump to publicly come out and call off his supporters at the Capitol.

Despite their pleas, however, Trump would not act to tell the rioters to go home for more than three hours.

Jen Psaki fires back after Fox News reporter accuses White House of 'bullying' Joe Manchin

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki defended the Biden administration on Wednesday after a Fox News correspondent accused staffers of "bullying" Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV).

During a White House briefing, Fox News correspondent Jacqui Heinrich wondered if the administration would take a softer approach in future negotiations with Manchin following the failure to pass President Joe Biden's Build Back Better agenda. Manchin is on record blaming White House "staff" for angering him by putting out press statements.

"Is there sort of a shift in strategy since this all blew up over bullying?" Heinrich asked.

"I would tell you that Sen. Manchin is somebody who has won many tough fought fights in West Virginia," Psaki replied. "He comes proudly from a coal-mining family. He's a pretty outspoken advocate for the things he believes in and the things he doesn't."

"And I would doubt he's a withering flower on the side of the road," she added.
