Death of the daily press briefing: How the White House is closing the door on the American people

One year since the last official White House press briefing, Reporters Without Borders (RSF) published on March 11 an analysis of the Trump administration’s attempts to strategically restrict press access to the White House. Prior to ending the daily televised press briefing altogether, President Trump held less than half as many as the previous two administrations during their first three years in office.

'I'm calling you out': Jen Psaki clashes with ‘irresponsible’ Peter Doocy after he asks about Americans stranded in Afghanistan

    Jen Psaki (AFP)

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki blasted Fox News reporter Peter Doocy for claiming the Biden administration has "stranded" Americans in Afghanistan.

The Biden administration has airlifted out of that country about 40,000 people, including Afghans and Americans, as of today.

Doocy, who almost daily attacks the administration from the press room seats, on Monday did just that, receiving a stern rebuke from Psaki.

"First of all I think it's irresponsible to say 'Americans are stranded.' They are not. We are committed to bringing Americans who want to come home, home. We are in touch with them via phone, via text, via email, via any way that we can possibly reach Americans, to get them home if they want to return.

"No American is stranded," Psaki stressed.

When Doocy pushed back, Psaki added: "I'm just calling you out for saying that we are stranding Americans in Afghanistan when we have been very clear that we are not leaving Americans who want to return home, we are going to bring them home and I think that's important for the American public to hear and understand."

Psaki reacts to pushback over claim no Americans 'stranded' in Afghanistan, despite mom's plea
Fox News Digital first reported the ordeal of the American mom on Saturday, with her saying that she had 'given up hope'

Fox News White House Correspondent Peter Doocy questioned White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki about an American mom said to be stuck in Afghanistan one day after Psaki said it was "irresponsible" to claim that Americans were stranded in the country.

"You said yesterday it is irresponsible to say that Americans are stranded in Afghanistan right now. What do you say to the American citizen in Kabul right now that Fox spoke to this morning… she says ‘we are stranded at home. For four days, three days, we didn’t hear anything from anywhere. And they're saying to go to the airport but we're not being given clear guidance. Our emails are getting ignored,'" Doocy said.

Fox News Digital first reported the ordeal of the American mom on Saturday, with her saying that she had "given up hope" of getting to the airport in Kabul.

"I really have given up hope, given up on the hope of going to the airport," the woman, whose identity is being withheld due to concerns for her safety, told Fox News. "It’s just not possible to make it through all those people."

The American mother later appeared on "Fox & Friends" Tuesday, making clear that she was in fact stranded in Kabul.

"Our lives are in extreme danger and I don’t know how long it’s going to continue. They are going to people’s homes at night and they are just taking them away," she said during the interview.

"And yes, we are stranded," she later added.

Psaki responded by saying that the president is "committed to bringing Americans home who want to leave," but noted that the U.S. does not track where its citizens go and depends on them to voluntarily register wherever they are.

"If we are not in touch with this individual, give me their contact information and we will get in touch with them," Psaki said.

Doocy then continued to point out that the woman was "stranded" in Afghanistan, pushing Psaki to provide another word for the situation facing the woman.

"But you say no Americans are stranded, this is someone in Kabul who says ‘I am stranded,’" Doocy responded. "Is there a better word for somebody who can't leave the house to get to the airport because Jake Sullivan says ISIS is outside the airport?"

But Psaki didn't back down from her previous response, again insisting that Doocy hand over the woman's contact information.

"I would welcome you providing their phone number and we will reach out today," Psaki said.

Shooter dealt with an employee like psaki. No matter what facts/evidence was presented, the employee would insist it wasn't so. Caught her lying about a client contact that could have had serious consequences and fired her ass.
When she filed unemployment she insisted she was fired for being sick, even though she had signed a separation notice stating she was being fired for lying and for falsifying a client record.

When people so blatantly lie in the face of reality they must be exposed.

Psaki grilled about Biden joking in response to Afghanistan question
Fox News’ Peter Doocy pressed Psaki on Biden's response to the reporter's question, asking her: 'What's so funny?'

White House press secretary Jen Psaki was grilled about President Biden joking in response to a question about the crisis in Afghanistan on Wednesday.

Biden was asked by a reporter what he will do if Americans remain in Afghanistan after the Aug. 31 deadline, prompting the president to quip: "You’ll be the first person I call."

Fox News' Peter Doocy pressed Psaki on Biden's response to the reporter's question, asking her: "What's so funny?"

Psaki appeared to be caught off-guard by the question, focusing her answer instead on the administration's talking points about the ongoing evacuation.

"I think what he conveyed is that he has not — well, what I can convey from here, I should say is that, as he stated yesterday and as the secretary of state just stated, we're on track to complete our mission by August 31st," Psaki responded. https://twitter.com/Breaking911/sta...aki-grilled-biden-joking-afghanistan-question

"Obviously there are discussions, and the president received a briefing just this morning — as I noted, he asked yesterday for contingency plans and he received a briefing on them this morning, " Psaki continued. "These are incredibly serious issues and they are discussions that are happening internally."

Psaki said that in "addition to the contingency plans" Biden asked for, the pullout plan is "contingent on us achieving our objectives and the continued coordination with the Taliban."

The president’s spokeswoman also said that Biden has spoken on the issue "multiple times over the last several days" and "also highlighted the fact" that the administration is monitoring "the threats from ISISK."

    Lies, lies, lies.
2 Congressional members flew to Kabul on their own to see for themselves what was going on.
The administration triggered, and claimed the two took two seats that could have been used to get Americans out.

    So, couple issues;
First, the two said the flight they left on had open seats; the plane wasn't full (Wait. What? You mean like the half empty life boats leaving Titanic?)
Second, if the administration is so fully confident that they will get everyone out before the August 31 deadline imposed by the Taliban, then what the fuck does it matter, 2 seats?
And third, how many Americans have been evacuated, how many remain, and what is the plan to get them out? Cause word coming out of Kabul is that many Americans are stranded and can't get to the airport. Peppermint Patty declarations to the contrary.

Jen Psaki Says Probably the Worst Thing She Could After Biden's Afghanistan Presser
By Sister Toldjah | Aug 27, 2021 11:30 AM ET
    [IMG]

As we reported yesterday, President Joe Biden gave a self-serving speech Thursday afternoon on what was a very dark day for America and her allies in Afghanistan after suicide bombings left, at last count, 13 members of the U.S. military and 79 Afghans dead, and scores more injured.

He made excuses for terrible decisions there were no good excuses for, proclaimed he took responsibility for said decisions while turning right back around and attempting to blame former President Trump for the fiasco that has unfolded at a staggeringly rapid pace in the country that our armed forces were in for nearly 20 years.

And when it was time for him to take questions from the White House press corps (a rarity for him), Biden revealed he had a list of reporters who he was “instructed” to call upon.

But while the Biden press conference was predictably bad, things got even worse not long after when press secretary Jen Psaki took to the podium to take questions, many (if not all) which were about Afghanistan.

At one point during the briefing, Psaki was asked about how Biden was feeling and what kind of “mood” he was in as new information continued to roll in throughout the day about the Afghanistan attacks.

Psaki’s response which, remember, came a very short time after Biden wasn’t able to give any reassurances on if things were going to get better in Afghanistan, was to suggest that there could actually be worse days ahead in Biden’s presidency.

Here’s the exchange between the reporter and Psaki in context (bolded emphasis added):

Reporter: “Just to clarify, since you said you were with him, how was he? How was his mood? How was he in dealing with all these — with the incoming information? How was he in asking the questions of military commanders (inaudible)?”

Psaki: “Well, I would say that anyone who’s watched the President up close, which is most of you, knows that the — putting the lives of servicemen and women at risk, and those decisions that you have to make as Commander-in-Chief, weigh heavily on him. And as I noted a few minutes ago, any day where you lose servicemembers is — may be the worst day of your presidency, and hopefully there’s not more. But we are certainly early in the presidency at this point in time.“

Watch a shortened version of her remarks below:https://twitter.com/BrentScher/stat...ould-after-bidens-afghanistan-presser-n433601

My guess is that Psaki probably meant to say something more optimistic like there would be better days ahead, but that’s not what came out, and the end result may be one of the worst quotes of her time as Biden’s press secretary at the lowest point in his presidency to date.

In her defense, maybe there was a reason behind what she said:

I mean, could you blame her? If I had to be a spokesperson for Joe Biden, it’s very likely that I, too, would say the quiet part out loud on occasion.

So the Biden administration is supposed to say everything from this point on will be honkeydory and no more service members will be endangered for the rest of his term.

Biden doesn’t blow sunshine up your ass, he has taken responsibility for what happened, in the way an actual adult handles tough situations.

The fact that Trump would have blamed his generals or Secretary of State for this bombing, anything but admit responsibility.

Senile bozo biden is not only clueless and demented he's also terrified of being wrong, which is why he never accepts responsibility for his mistakes and the problems he creates, opting instead to automatically blame everyone and everything else. Even after saying “the buck stops here,” he immediately pivots to the equivalent of “but Trump made me do it, and it’s Afghanistan’s fault.”

Nothing new from bozo joe... He's been doing the exact same thing for the last 47 years....

The fucked up withdrawal from Afghanistan in on biden/harris, and only biden/harris.

So Joe has taken responsibility for the withdrawal!
But that doesn’t change the fact that this mess was left for him to clean up, but the former guy. Trump left a trap by dealing with the Taliban without the Afghani government in the room. They agreed to start by depleting our footprint in country to 2500 troops. With remaining to be withdrawn by May.
The trap was set to either follow the Trump plan, or redeploy thousands of additional troops.
Either way someone would be bitching, and my guess is that it would be you.

A true patriot would be supporting our President and hope that no more of America’s best and brightest will lose their lives in the process of withdrawal from 20+ yr of war.
