I've been hearing about it, and heard the announcement that it is live or going live shortly.

I wonder whose mega-servers he's using. I t better not be Amazon's. This needs to be self-contained in order to be bullet proof.

Then there's the problem of app availability for android and iPhones.

Donald Trump, the former president, on Tuesday launched what Fox News called a new "platform," but in reality, as many are saying, is just a blog. It even sounds like what blogs were called in the early days of the medium: From the Desk of Donald J. Trump.

The site is part of his main site, which is now designed as a money-making/fundraising enterprise. It allows one-way communication, with Trump posting words, images, or video, and then supporters can tweet them or post them to Facebook. The "like" button does not currently work.

Many on social media mocked the former president.

The space allows Trump to post, and allows followers to share the former president’s posts to Twitter and Facebook, however, the new platform does not have a feature to allow users to "reply" or engage with Trump’s posts.

"This is just a one-way communication," one source familiar with the space told Fox News. "This system allows Trump to communicate with his followers."

Trump’s new platform surfaced Tuesday, after advisers had told Fox News that the former president planned to "move forward" to create a social media platform of his own after being banned from Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and Snapchat after the Capitol riot.

On Saturday, Business Insider profiled the ways that former President Donald Trump's banishment from social media has affected the viability of his message on the national stage — and the halfhearted way he is trying to make up for what he has lost.

"Former President Donald Trump's new 'communication platform' launched this week was widely mocked as little more than a 'glorified blog,'" reported Thomas Colson. "The site — revealed on Tuesday — followed Trump's longtime adviser Jason Miller promising that Trump would soon create a social media platform that would 'completely redefine the game' on social media."

"'A challenge for Trump is that the most effective online engagement requires interaction,' Peter Loge, associate professor school of media and public affairs at the George Washington University, told Insider," continued the report. "'Fans want to feel as if they have a relationship with their favorite celebrity. These 'parasocial relationships' are what keep fans coming back and buying more stuff,' he said. 'At this point, Trump is just shouting into the void. He isn't letting anyone shout back.'"

This week, Facebook's independent oversight board, commonly referred to as the social network's "Supreme Court," upheld the former president's ban from the platform following his conspiracy theories that contributed to the violent invasion of the U.S. Capitol. However, the board also urged Facebook to create more workable standards for issuing such bans, and revisit the Trump case in six months.

Trump and his supporters can't really blame Twitter and Facebook for this. It is not their fault that with all the money Trump has raked in the best he and his advisors could come up with is a sub par blog. That's on them and their incompetence.

Former President Donald Trump has had difficulty getting attention by writing statements longer than 280 characters.

Data analysis conducted by NBC News shows that Trump's new blog, which he launched as a way to push his message to supporters in the wake of his ban from top social media platforms, has failed to generate the kind of buzz his infamous tweets used to create.

"The ex-president's blog has drawn a considerably smaller audience than his once-powerful social media accounts, according to engagement data compiled with BuzzSumo, a social media analytics company," writes NBC News. "The Desk of Donald J. Trump is limited — users can't comment or engage with the actual posts beyond sharing them to other platforms, an action few people do, according to the data."

Trump's writing style was well suited to Twitter, where he used pithy insults and demeaning nicknames to level political opponents during his first run for the presidency in 2016.

Trump's blog, however, has typically focused on relitigating the election he decisively lost more than half a year ago, as well as occasionally taking shots at "junky" Kentucky Derby horses that failed drug tests.

"The Trump blog's low engagement numbers seem to suggest that the practice of deplatforming, or cutting off a user from their followers and thereby severing networks of common followers, is broadly effective and can be used to reduce hate speech and glorification of violence from mainstream platforms," notes NBC News.

Is anyone surprised? It's just another Trump business that promised a lot and delivered little. The biggest obstacle Trump faces these days is everybody knows him, and knows him too well.

Would any competent web designer who could create a site as complex as a social forum, expect to be paid for their work? This is the best he could do.

 

I think this is exactly right. First, Trump has never been anything but a con man. And this is the Trump University of the internet. But its also a very important point that really competent people don't want the Trump stench on them so he is stuck with his grifting clown car.
