Nope. You got that all wrong. HE destroyed his own name, reputation, legacy, and supporters. I recognize that many of his supporters are not part of the violent NON-patriots that he incited to attack the Capitol and democracy itself; they are the willing victims of the scam artist that he is. All of his misdeeds can be summed up in a single word: lies. FACT: he lost the election, fair and square. There is NO evidence of widespread fraud, despite manufactured rumors to the contrary. His LIE of a "stolen election" has been presented as fact for months with no regard to the consequences. Those who believed this deranged, delusional, self-absorbed liar would have no reason to revolt if they recognized truth.

Unlike many Republicans and many Democrats (I am neither), I have no script, just opinions and conclusions based on the available facts. When I’m right, I’m right and when I’m wrong, I’m wrong, but I have no need or desire to tow a "party line". As a Native New Yorker with some involvement in Real Estate, I was familiar with The Donald long before his presidency. You may be aware that he flip-flopped between parties but, whatever his leanings, he has always been a blowhard - a conceited, self-serving cheater & liar (remember Trump University?). I understand how he got elected... not your typical politician, seemingly successful businessman (despite multiple bankruptcies), household name (thanks to reality TV)... I get it. But now we’ve spent 4 years watching him lie over & over. I have never, and probably will never, understand how otherwise intelligent people support him because they can’t or won’t see through his lies.

Just like all U.S. elections, the voters tend to vote for the less fucked up.

Every human being will and does have flaws in their personality, I didn't vote for Trump in '16 or '20 according to his 'personality', he got my vote due to his campaign and his history of getting shit done, within the parameters of the U.S. Constitution.

Everything that you have mentioned above...should not have any bearing on his policies, your issues with Trump seems to be very superficial, and super critical.

      ace's n 8's, Jan 13, 2021
    5. aesopstails
Then you missed the point. I don’t vote by personalities either. His personality has dictated his actions and that’s where the problem lies. It is BECAUSE he’s a conceited blowhard that he LIES. It is BECAUSE he lies, specifically the "big lie" he has been spreading continually since November, that some believe a free & fair election was corrupted and "stolen" and threatens our democracy. It is because domestic terrorists believe his LIE that they attacked the Capitol under the pretense that they are patriots looking to defend & preserve American democracy. If he had not lied, these "patriots" (who attacked police with the flagpoles on which they carried the American flag) would have had no reason to riot. If Trump gave a damn about the parameters of the Constitution, why did he skip the part about presidential elections and try so desperately to manipulate the results?

Hey, @aesopstails can you help a fellow XNXX member out?
What, exactly, did Trump do to incite people to attack the Capitol?

According to one post around here, it was his "dog whistle" politics that did it, dog whistle referring to secret code words like "freedom" and "democracy" apparently, that those supporters in on the secret know means "riot and burn the fucker down".

But, Shooter hasn't been able to verify that, any more than reports that Trump supporters shit in the halls of the capitol.

Do your own homework... I’m not going to cut & paste a transcript of his speeches & tweets for you. Find it yourself and note how he told people to fight like hell or they wouldn’t have a country left to fight for. Note the behavior of the team members he invited to speak at his rally... Loony Rudy encouraged "trial by combat", and Trump said nothing to disavow that. Trump told his minions (the lie) that he would join them at the Capitol, but didn’t go anywhere near the place. Why do you think that is?

Look at his actions. While the attack was happening, Trump called the terrorists "special" and said he loved them. He refused to send in the National Guard or federal resources to help the Capitol police even as they were being attacked & killed. Then he had the nerve to LIE about that the next day and claim that he sent in support immediately.

And don’t think his remarks on the morning of the riot are the only reason his supporters attacked the Capitol with self-stated intent to kill the Vice President and with zip ties & pipe bombs & guns for our other elected officials. The main reason for the mob’s discontent & venom was their belief that the election had been stolen from Trump. Why did they believe this? Multiple states reviewed their ballots more than once and found no issues. Not just blue states, but states with governors and election oversight officials from both parties. Multiple lawsuits were filed, but judges of both parties (some even appointed by Trump) found no evidence to support the false claims of widespread election fraud. The only thing that made folks believe that the election was stolen was Trump’s "big lie". His conceit & delusion have him believing that it was impossible for him to lose the election. Since November, he has been repeating, over and over and over, the false claim that he won by a landslide but his enemies are denying him a second term. He drummed into their heads again and again the (untrue) idea that a free & fair election, the very core of our democracy, was being crushed by his opposition. In reality, HE was trying to crush our democracy by doing everything he could think of to go over and around the true election results in the hope of clinging to the presidency for a second term that he had NOT been elected to.

And you needn’t be so snide about "dog whistle" or "code words" when you’ve been around long enough to understand that they do indeed exist. When a wife tells her husband that her mother is coming to visit, he might easily recognize that as "code" for "You might want to plan a fishing trip with your buddies this weekend". When a son says "Hey Dad, can we get together for coffee tomorrow?", Dad might easily understand this means that the son is likely looking to talk rather than simply wanting a hot beverage.

And I don’t know how you might verify that rioters smeared shit around the Capitol. Folks who were actually there said it happened, but you obviously don’t believe them, though I don’t know why. It’s likely that it’s already been cleaned up, so, unfortunately, you can’t go lick it up yourself to personally verify it was there.

You could be correct, it’s easy to see why you feel this way. Cumulative data input leads too indisputable results. Cumulative perceptions lead to disputable conclusions.

I understand elections are run by the states, so there are many opportunities for things to go wonky. I know people who received 2 ballots - one under their maiden name & one under their married name or one at their old address & one at their new address. The system is far from perfect & voter rolls should be cleaned up, but overall it’s working. There were numerous recounts and verifications before and after Biden was declared the winner, so I can only conclude that those who believe Trump won only believe that because he said so... over & over & over. I don’t know how anyone can hold him blameless when his own lies gave the rioters a (false) reason to go on the attack in his name. What if I lied to you, saying Joe Blow screwed your wife, John Doe called her a whore, and Jim Jones is planning to kidnap her? So you, trusting my word, go beat the crap out of Joe, John, and Jim. The police may then arrest YOU, but am I blameless? Lies have consequences, but Trump doesn’t seem to care.

I haven’t disagreed with your opinion or your reasoning, nor have I dismissed your claim that Trump words incited some to violence. The key here is why did “some” decide to act and “most” did not? If the crowd of people attending his speech in DC was in the hundreds of thousands, why did so few assault the Capitol?

Could it be that those who acted planned to do it regardless of the speech.

      tenguy, Jan 13, 2021
    4. aesopstails
We know for a fact that some planned in advance to attack the Capitol. Why? Because Trump had previously invited them to a "big protest" on the 6th that would be "wild". Because they believed the lie they were force-fed for months, that the election results were the result of a vast misdeed against both Trump and the American people. As I’ve said in previous comments, Trump’s incitement tactics began long before his speech on the morning of January 6... that just added fuel to the fire. Why didn’t all attendees attack? Simple... they came from many states and many groups (some more radical than others) with different agendas. The radical fringe of any group does not usually behave in the same manner as the larger group. Not all Springsteen fans will ever attend a concert. Not all Trump supporters attended the rally. Of those who did, some had planned to attack the Capitol while others probably had not planned to go there until Trump encouraged it.

Oh, Shooter could go through and point out the cherry picking you and the propagandists did.
Trumps tweet saying he loved the rioters is a great example. Cause you know he was telling them violence was not the answer and to go home.
Or the idea that we have to "fight like hell" means riot.

If that is inciting a riot what the hell were Warrens public calls to find Trump people and harrass them at every chance?
Not diverting, shooter wants to understand the difference between a despicable firebrands speech and a deplorable firebrands speech.
The former is one is upon, the the other results in impeachment and Shooter doesn't get it.

    1. aesopstails
You’re an incredible hypocrite, as you do plenty of "cherry-picking". As I’ve already pointed out, the bottom-line cause of the attack on the Capitol was Trump’s FALSE, UNTRUE, MANUFACTURED, OFT-REPEATED cry-baby insistence that widespread election fraud had occurred. If he hadn’t intentionally spread that lie, there would have been nothing to protest. If you ignore everything else he ever said, that lie alone is responsible. So we agree on one thing... Shooter doesn’t get it.

      Well OK.
Who incited all the riots this summer? Was that President Trump as well, or who? What lies and manufactured stories incited people to burn and assault and loot? 80% of the protests were peaceful, who or what cranked up the other 20%?

Good little narrative pushers you all are.

One thing that I have learned in the past few years, it has all been about the optics on the surface, the perceptions and not the details.

    Damned the details...

Everything that you have stated here is the exact narratives that are being pushed by the establishment and the state-run leftist propaganda activist media.

And what is really revealing here is those very establishment and the state-run leftist propaganda activist media yo-yo's are telling 75 million + people in this Nation that they are stupid /dumb/deplorable/irrelevant and dont know what's good for them, while in the same breathe telling these 75 million + people in this Nation that they are stupid /dumb/deplorable/irrelevant and dont know what's good for them...but we do know what's good for you.

President Trump touts progress of border wall project

    OAN Newsroom
    UPDATED 10:14 AM PT – Wednesday, January 13, 2021

President Trump recently paid a visit to the U.S.-Mexico border to tout his administration’s success in fighting illegal immigration. While speaking near a section of border wall at Alamo, Texas on Tuesday, the President celebrated the completion of more than 450 miles of border wall.

Securing the southern border has been a major focus throughout his presidency. President Trump warned the next administration against peeling back his border policies by noting it will likely cause the greatest immigration crisis the U.S. has ever seen.

“In particular, if our border security measures are reversed, it will trigger a tidal wave of illegal immigration, a wave like you’ve never seen before,” he stated. “And I can tell you that already waves are starting to come up from 2000 and 1000 and 500 miles away.”

During his speech, the President also called for peace and calm amid the current political climate. He said the MAGA agenda relies on respect for America’s institutions.

“Now is the time for our nation to heal and it’s time for peace and for calm,” he stated. “Respect for law enforcement and the great people within law enforcement, so many are here, is the foundation of the MAGA agenda”

President Trump also addressed calls for his cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment by suggesting the only person that would hurt is Joe Biden.

All in all, the President’s border wall will likely span about 475 miles by the end of the month.

I haven’t kept up with the current numbers, but when he claimed 365 miles of "new" wall was completed, it turned out that only 15 miles was actually new. The remaining 350 miles was just a replacement to existing barriers. So how much of that 450 miles is REALLY new? And how long is the WHOLE southern border, anyway? Somewhere close to 2,000 miles? Yeah... great job.

Trump marred his own accomplishments as well, but still, he should be judged for what he did throughout his presidency, the good and the bad. There is something to learn about America too, considering how many people supported him.

Trump won the second-most votes ever in a presidential election, after President-elect Joe Biden, who received about 7 million more.

The president’s appeal is and was that he is an anti-Washington outsider. A massive number of Americans don’t trust politicians and hold Washington in low regard. Many yearn for someone authentic, who bluntly speaks his or her mind.

Add to the mix a Congress that barely functions, problems that don’t get solved, and experts, including a biased media, that accepted the false Trump-Russia collusion charges made by Democrats. It’s no wonder the public was open to an outsider who threatened to disrupt the government.

Trump had some remarkable accomplishments on his watch.

    [IMG]Video
Prior to the arrival of COVID-19, the U.S. poverty rate dropped to its lowest level since 1959, an amazing fact that barely received any attention because the news came out during the pandemic.

In fact, in late 2018 Trump did more to lift up the poor than any of his predecessors, including President Lyndon Johnson, who launched the War on Poverty.

The unemployment rate for those without a high school diploma, pre-pandemic, also hit the lowest level in recorded history. Hispanic and African American unemployment hit record lows.

Wages, stagnant for a decade, shot up under Trump, especially for working blue-collar Americans. These people benefitted greatly by Trump’s low-tax and deregulation policies.

Unfortunately, the economic dislocation caused by the coronavirus wiped out many of the benefits on the jobs front that Trump had achieved.

    More from Opinion

In addition, the president brought relative peace to the Middle East. He virtually destroyed ISIS and helped achieve remarkable peace agreements that will lead to diplomatic relations between four Muslim nations and Israel — an extraordinary accomplishment.

Trump stood up to China, resetting the terms of relations between our countries. He understands that China is a growing threat to America — economically, morally and militarily. He opened people’s eyes to these problems and stood up to China using tariffs — a tool no typical politicians would have used.

The president’s appointments to federal courts, especially the Supreme Court, will have an impact for decades.

Generally, Shooter agrees with Chief on Trump. He would only add that ISIS was wounded and limping when Trump got into office, so he finished them off, more than destroyed ISIS from the start.

He also removed more regulations than any president, which is what fed his economic boom. This little noted bit of Trump's work may be the biggest contribution of his presidency.

As noted on another thread, Congress is the biggest problem we have; they create issues and then "fix" them, the only problem is, the problems they "fix" are rarely what needs attention.

Shooter has no doubt history will judge Trump harshly. He hopes history will judge congress and the political parties equally harshly.

Doesn't fit the Trump hating agenda, but thank you for reminding us why we continue to support President Trump.
