If I lived in Brooklyn, I'd be protecting it, just to show folks that this is what an activist Judge/Justice looks like, and a woman with strong convictions.

That's the only reason that they want a statue of her for.

Sen. Romney announces support for holding vote on President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) announced he will back a vote on President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee. He released a statement Tuesday in which he confirmed that if the nominee reaches the Senate floor, he intends to vote based upon their qualifications.

The Utah Republican noted that historically an election year nomination is for the Senate to confirm if they are made by a president of the same party. Romney spoke to reporters on Capitol Hill and pointed out this was not the case back in 2016.

“At this stage, I think it’s appropriate to look at the Constitution and to look at the precedent which has existed over – well since the beginning of this country,” he stated. “And in a circumstance where a nominee of a president is from a different party than the Senate, then more often than not the Senate does not confirm, so the Garland decision was consistent with that.”

Romney was considered a potential GOP defection on holding a vote, but his announcement appears to guarantee the President’s nominee will be receive a full vote on the Senate floor.

Meanwhile, White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows confirmed the President will announce his Supreme Court pick this Saturday. In an interview Tuesday, he said the White House and Republicans have not made a decision yet on the timetable for the confirmation process.

However, Meadows said senators are engaged and ready to get to work on the President’s pick. He also noted he’s confident the President’s nominee will have enough votes to be confirmed either before the election or shortly after.

Sen. Graham says he will ‘lead charge’ on justice nomination

Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-S.C.) is standing by his recent calls for Republicans to confirm President Trump’s next nominee to the Supreme Court before the November election.

In an interview Monday, the senator said the law mandates that the President nominate a new justice for the Senate to confirm whenever a new vacancy appears on the Supreme Court.

In the past, Graham was criticized for opposing judicial nominations during an election year. He confirmed that back in 2016 he was opposed to nominating new justices in the election year. However, the senator said that precedent no longer applies after the Democrats attempted to derail Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation back in 2018.

Graham noted Democrats have one set of rules for Democrat nominees and a different one for the Republicans. The senator went on say this Democrat double-standard allows Republicans to break from earlier precedent and appoint a new justice this year.

“I will be leading the charge to make sure that President Trump’s nominee has a hearing, goes to the floor of the United States Senate for a vote, because that is my job,” he stated. “And I believe I’m doing what the people of South Carolina want me to do in this regard.”

As chairman of the Senate Committee on the Judiciary, Graham is projected to be in charge of leading the confirmation hearings for whoever is nominated.

Senate Democrats warn GOP of plans to retaliate if McConnell advances Trump court pick

Senate Democrats, lacking votes to stop President Donald Trump's pick to fill the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's seat, are weighing an array of tactics to battle back -- ranging from bringing the chamber to a screeching halt this year to pushing legislation to expand the court if they win the majority in the fall.
Democrats began discussing their options on Saturday, with senators all vowing a furious fight to keep the seat vacant until next year when a new Senate convenes and when Joe Biden may occupy the White House. And while no specific course of action was detailed, Democrats said they were united on this: They planned to engage in an all-out battle to stop the nomination in its tracks by pressuring four Republicans to break ranks.
"Mitch McConnell believes that this fight is over. What Mitch McConnell does not understand is this fight has just begun," said Sen. Elizabeth Warren, a Massachusetts Democrat, speaking at a Ginsburg vigil on Saturday.

First, Democrats want to stop the nomination, and they are considering taking unusual steps to bottle up all business in the Senate to drag out the proceedings as long as possible, senators said. Under the rules, which require the chamber to operate by unanimous consent, Democrats can object to routine business of the day and essentially ground the chamber to a halt.

McConnell could eventually get around such stall tactics if he has the support of 51 senators, but they could drag out the proceedings.
And if the Democrats ultimately fail to stop the nominee, they are indicating that they may push legislation to expand the Supreme Court by adding additional seats to retaliate against what they view as Republicans' heavy-handed tactics.
It's an option that has picked up increased interest in the wake of Ginsburg's death -- and one that Democratic leaders are not ruling out.

Gotta love the foot stamping and threats the despicables are tossing out just now.
Confirms just how powerless they are to stop deplorables.

I suspect Pence to cast his vote for this Judicial confirmation...unless Romney really did have a moment of clarity.

As I said before, she would have been retired and replaced already had Hillary won. The Liberal cabal forced her to hang on, in hopes that she would outlive Trumps Presidency! She didn't quite make it, so Trump has legit right to replace her!

Chief Justice Roberts honors late Justice Ginsburg during Supreme Court ceremony

Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts honored his late associate, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, during a ceremony at the court’s great hall. Wednesday’s ceremony was attended by all eight justices, as well as members of Ginsburg’s family.

According to Roberts, Ginsburg was tough, brave and a fighter, but also thoughtful, compassionate and honest.

“The court was her family, this building was her home, too,” he said. “Of course, she will live on in what she did to improve the law and the lives of all of us.”

He went on to say her life was one of the many versions of the American dream. He explained how she became a leading advocate for education and against discrimination in the workplace.

“She won famous victories that helped move our nation closer to equal justice under the law, to the extent that women are now a majority in law schools, not simply a handful,” stated Roberts. “Her 483 majority, concurring and dissenting opinions will steer the court for decades.”
