You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

Yeah , the numbers of young and very young affected by this current strain is of real concern.

    here in NZ
age group - cases - Percentage of Total

    0 to 9
    - 135 =15% under 9 years old

    10 to 19 - 209 = 23.2%

    20 to 29 - 239 =26.5%
so 64.7% under 30 years of age

    30 to 39 -83 =9.2%
    40 to 49 - 88 =9.8%
    50 to 59 -96 =10.6%
    60 to 69 -31 =3.4%
    70+ -21 =2.3%

Currently only those 12 and older can be vaccinated ,
and I've seen no indication that will change any time soon ,
    which means
it is entirely the responsibility of the rest of us to protect them

The age demographic of those infected has begun to flip, it is becoming clearer the the parents will be the designated drivers in protecting their kids. If they still persist in being unvaccinated, they only have to look in the mirror if their child get sick.

Family of Dead Alabama Man Urges People to Get Vaxxed After 43 Overfilled ICUs Rejected Him

An Alabama man just days away from his 74th birthday died last week after 43 hospitals in three states couldn’t accept him due to overfilled ICUs. Now his family is encouraging people to get vaccinated. Ray Martin DeMonia suffered a cardiac event last week, and after his family tried to get him a bed at a variety of hospitals, staff at an Alabama hospital managed to find him a one at a Mississippi hospital—almost 200 miles from his home. “In honor of Ray, please get vaccinated if you have not, in an effort to free up resources for non-COVID related emergencies,” his family wrote in his obituary. “He would not want any other family to go through what his did.”

In Alabama, there were 60 more patients than there were ICUs as of Thursday. Over half were positive with COVID-19, according to USA Today—a deadly example of the Delta variant’s rise.

Just about the same thing just happened to a very good friend of mine. He developed blood clots in his legs and went to the local hospital 20 miles away with the classic symptoms. But they are over run with COVID patients so they just gave him some pain pills and sent him home. Two days later he couldn't feel his legs. He went back to the hospital and that time they lifeflighted him out. But the hospital 100 miles away couldn't take him either. So they shipped him to a hospital 259 miles down the road.

And now he is fighting for his life with both legs amputated and blood clots in his colon, kindness, and headed for his lungs. All because lour state has about as 43% vaccination rate.

There are a few interesting experiments beginning , or about to..

Denmark is giving up all restrictions , despite still having pretty high numbers.

    Denmark 351,553 total cases ,
    yesterday new cases +557
    & total 2,608 deaths.

With a similar population to us

    * ** *
    copied:
Denmark’s high vaccination rate has enabled it to become one of the first EU countries to lift all domestic restrictions, after 548 days with curbs in place to limit the spread of Covid-19,

The return to normality has been gradual, but as of Friday, the digital pass – a proof of having been vaccinated – is no longer required when entering nightclubs, making it the last virus safeguard to fall.

More than 80% of people above the age of 12 in the Scandinavian country have had the two shots, leading the Danish government to declare as of midnight it no longer considers Covid-19 a “socially critical” disease.

    * ** *
    Then , NSW , Aussie ,
Prem Gladys has said they will start removing all restrictions and controls for the vaccinated once they achieve 70%
    vaccination .
Despite having rampant , and daily increasing numbers , 1599 cases yesterday

    with just 8.2 m population , only 1.6 × ours

She is basically openly using this to blackmail her citizens into getting vaccinated ,
so that in itself will be an interesting tactic to observe ,
given the riotous behaviour of some citizens to the minimal restrictions they have used.

    * ** *

These in spite of the general expert opinion that you need at least 90% vaccinated to gain control (as in "herd immunity")

and that well before the new more infectious delta ,
and before the young who can't be vaccinated were being badly affected ,
    and becoming the majority affected.
    And
in spite of 80% vaccinated means only just over 70% protected , therefore near 30% vulnerable.
    70% vaccinated , 63% protected , 37% vulnerable
    and
the vaccinated can get infected , and can spread it to those (up to 37%) unvaccinated

While we will all have to live with this thing soon ,
this sort of impatience , caused by half arsed measures , seems a rather high risk strategy to me .
    But we will see.

One thing's for sure , the UK's versions of this type of strategy have not gone to well .
Still back up towards around 40g cases a day

I admit to being surprised at Denmark. Sweden tried the no restrictions approach at the start of the pandemic and was forced to admit it was a terrible mistake. So I don't know what Denmark is thinking.

New CDC study shows how powerful the Delta variant is
    By Gabrielle Arzola Tampa
    PUBLISHED 6:05 AM ET Sep. 12, 2021
STATEWIDE — As hospitals in the Tampa Bay and Central Florida areas continue to work around the clock to help those severely sick with COVID-19, a new CDC study shows just how powerful this delta variant is.

    What You Need To Know
    • Those who haven’t gotten the vaccine are 29 times more likely to be hospitalized, study says

      • Unvaccinated folks are five times more likely to get the virus, according to the CDC
According to the new CDC study, those who are unvaccinated not only are 29 times more likely to go hospitalized with COVID. The study presented in the CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report also shows that unvaccinated folks are five times more likely to get the virus.

Doctors throughout Central Florida and the Tampa Bay area have emphasized how this virus could attack anyone at any age.

This week, there have been more than 100,000 positive cases in Florida and that is a massive difference from last month/s surge.

Doctors say as more individuals receive the vaccine, those numbers are expected to go down even further.

"Every person that passes away that was unvaccinated it's, um, it's a preventable death. It's very, it's, it's heartbreaking actually,” said Dr. Warren Abel, a critical care physician at St. Anthony’s Hospital in St. Petersburg.

More than 75 million Americans remain unvaccinated and health leaders are encouraging people to go to their local health department to get the vaccine.

Embalmers are seeing the same thing. Younger people dying quicker with the Delta variant. But they say at least their bodies are in better shape.

Funeral worker details devastating toll of COVID on 'unrecognizable' bodies

He goes on to describe in graphic detail how the bodies of COVID victims are "tremendously swollen" with "huge legions" on their cheeks that have "gone gangrene" and blood clots "the size of pancakes." Despite specializing in post-mortem reconstruction of trauma victims, Huey says there's little he can do in these cases.

"The sad part is the families of these people, at that point, hadn't been allowed to see their loved ones during the several weeks that they were in the ICU," he writes. "So the body comes out in an almost unrecognizable condition, and then you have to explain to their family that their loved one doesn't look anything like what they should. ... And for a lot of these families, it's just a tremendous shock."

Things are getting worse in Idaho.

Idaho to ration care amid COVID-19 surge

Idaho on Thursday announced that it is activating a system for rationing medical care statewide amid a surge in COVID-19 cases that is overwhelming hospitals.

The system, known as Crisis Standards of Care, allows hospitals to prioritize for care healthier people who are more likely to recover.

"Someone who is otherwise healthy and would recover more rapidly may get treated or have access to a ventilator before someone who is not likely to recover," the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare said in a statement explaining the system.

Nashville nurse on latest COVID-19 surge: 'It is so much worse this time'

A Nashville nurse wrote an op-ed in the Scientific American detailing her experience as a nurse during the pandemic, saying the current wave of delta cases is much worse than what she experienced last year.

“It is so much worse this time. We all have so much less to give. We are still bearing the fresh and heavy grief of the past year and trying to find somewhere to put all this anger. But the patients don’t stop coming,” Kathryn Ivey, a critical care nurse at a medical center in Nashville, said.

“The numbers are higher now than they’ve ever been, the patients coming in younger and sicker. Death is at my shoulder again, as silent as he is relentless,” she said.

Tennessee COVID-19 cases climb to top in the country
By KIMBERLEE KRUESI and ADRIAN SAINZSeptember 14, 2021

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee now ranks first in the country for new COVID-19 cases per capita as the state continues to battle its worst virus surge yet.

As of Tuesday, one in every 81 Tennesseans had tested positive for the virus in the past week, according to researchers from Johns Hopkins. Meanwhile, the average number of new cases daily has risen by nearly 90% since Aug. 29, to nearly 12,000 new cases a day as of Sunday.

The latest milestone is one of several records the state has reached in the past several weeks, stemming from a spike in cases and hospitalizations among school-aged children.

Hundreds of students throughout Tennessee have been forced to quarantine or isolate due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Some schools have closed classrooms due to staffing shortages, while others have temporarily asked the state to switch to virtual learning.

Yet the increase in cases among children have sparked heated responses from those opposed to enforcing stricter measures designed to help curb the spread of the disease.

In the mean time, while certain folks are concentrating on Tennessee, they are ignoring the real problem areas. The death rate from Covid-19 in Tennessee is half that of NY and 1/3 of that in CA. Why is that?
All this is happening while most restrictions have been removed here and have been for months.
No doubt we are in a pandemic, but how do we deal with it?
Am I alarmed at the high case load, yes indeed I am. Am I panicked, no I’m not.

States ranked by COVID-19 death rates: Sept. 16

    Listen
As of Sept. 16, more than 666,000 people in the U.S. had died after contracting COVID-19, according to The New York Times.

The Times used data from reports of coronavirus cases and deaths by U.S. states and counties. The database includes cases and deaths that have been identified by public health officials as probable coronavirus patients, which means they did not have confirmed tests for coronavirus infection but were evaluated using criteria developed by national and local governments. Read more about the data here.

Here is a breakdown of average daily COVID-19 deaths and COVID-19 deaths per 100,000 people over the last seven days in all 50 U.S. states and Washington, D.C. The data was last updated Sept. 16.

You still don’t understand. But, that’s okay, it would upset your narrative.

The key here is to pay attention.

IF YOU GET THE VIRUS, YOU ARE TWICE AS LIKELY TO DIE FROM IT IN NEW YORK, THAN IF YOU WERE IN TENNESSEE!

      Understand it now?

It’s my bad to have accepted @stumbler ’s posted data at face value, the report only covered the last seven days. I was guilty of not thoroughly reading his post.
But the data for the deaths since the pandemic started are totally different. New York ranks 4th among all states at 2.846 deaths per 100k population while Tennessee is ranked 23rd at 2.092
