"Back the Blue" only applies to police dealing with BLM protests. But if treasonous conservative/Republicans are trying to stage a coup and overthrow the results of a free and fair election and install Trump as a dictator then its fuck the Blue you mean nothing to us.

Cop Assaulted at Capitol Vents Fury at GOP’s ‘Bullshit’ Claims That Rioters Were Just Like Tourists

Michael Fanone has had enough of Republican “bullshit.” The police officer, who was tased and clubbed with a flagpole at the Capitol riot, has vented his anger after GOP lawmakers made a series of laughably wrong claims about the insurrection during a hearing on Wednesday. The most ridiculous statement came from Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA), who said the storming of the building was just like a “normal tourist visit.” Well, Fanone, who suffered a heart attack and a concussion after being assaulted by the MAGA mob, has some thoughts about that. Appearing on CNN on Thursday night, the officer said: “Peddling that bullshit is an assault on every officer that fought to defend the Capitol... It’s disgraceful.” He went on: “I’m not a politician. I’m not an elected official. I don’t expect anybody to give two shits about my opinions. But I will say this, you know, those are lies.” Fanone is still suffering from a traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder after he was attacked in January.

Lone wolf actors post greatest domestic terror threat, FBI, DHS conclude

A joint report released Friday by the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) warns that lone wolf actors pose the greatest terror threat as incidents of domestic extremism steadily rise.

“The greatest terrorism threat to the homeland we face today is posed by lone offenders, often radicalized online, who look to attack soft targets with easily accessible weapons. Many of these violent extremists are motivated and inspired by a mix of socio-political goals and personal grievances against their targets,” the two agencies wrote.

The report was released shortly after a DHS bulletin warning that easing COVID-19 restrictions could provide new opportunities for domestic extremists to carry out attacks, while grievances about vaccines and racial justice demonstrations have fueled ideologically motivated violent extremists.

The report found 2019 “represented the most lethal year” for domestic violent extremist attacks since 1995, the year the Oklahoma City bombing killed more than 160 people.

The two departments particularly highlighted the risks of white nationalists who are relying on “gamification...using fatality counts in attacks are referred to as ‘scores’” to motivate potential attackers.

“Widely disseminated propaganda on online forums and encrypted chat applications that espouse similar themes regarding kill counts could inspire future attackers to mobilize faster or attempt increasingly lethal and more sophisticated attacks,” the report states.

Even as the lethality of domestic terror incidents rose in 2019, the number of domestic terror arrests has fallen steadily since 2016.

The FBI arrested 229 subjects in fiscal 2019, with that number dropping to 107 for fiscal 2020. Those figures come from the roughly 1,000 domestic terror investigations conducted for the last three fiscal years in that period.

“The report confirms what has been clear for some time: The greatest terrorist threat we face comes from radicalized lone offenders with easy access to weapons. They attack soft targets and have a variety of motivations, but a large majority of the most significant attacks have been carried out by white supremacist extremists,” House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) said in a statement.

Capitol rioter banned from having firearms was just busted on gun charges after killing a mountain lion

An accused Capitol rioter shot and killed a mountain lion after he was released from jail -- and was prohibited from possessing firearms.

Patrick Montgomery was allowed to return home to Colorado after he allegedly stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 and kicked a police officer, but federal prosecutors have filed a motion to revoke his release after he posed for a photo with the 170-pound mountain lion he killed, reported the Washington Post.

"Given that Montgomery has repeatedly and flagrantly violated both state and federal law while on pretrial release in this case — including by possessing and using a firearm — the Government respectfully requests that the Court revoke his release pending trial," prosecutors said in the motion.

The 48-year-old Montgomery was identified by Facebook friends who saw photos he posted of himself inside the Capitol during the Jan. 6 insurrection, and one notified him that he had been reported to the FBI.

"I'm not a scared cat or running from anything," Montgomery responded, according to court documents. "I didn't storm the castle violently. My group was let in peacefully by the police we were talking to with respect."

However, prosecutors said Montgomery tried to grab a police officer's baton, wrestled him to the ground and kicked him in the chest before presenting both of his middle fingers at the officer.

The Littleton resident was arrested Jan. 17 on 10 counts, but state authorities began investigating him a short time later for the illegal killing of a bobcat.

Montgomery then killed the mountain lion on March 31 and posed for a photo with its body, but federal prosecutors said he was not supposed to have a gun at that time due to a court order and a previous conviction in 1996 for armed robbery in New Mexico.

He told state wildlife authorities that he committed the robberies while "doing stupid stuff" in college and was "knocking stores over to get travel money," according to court records.

Montgomery claims to have trapped 100 mountain lions in the past five years, and state officials were unable to find any provision in his past plea agreement that allowed him to possess guns, as he claims.

A court appearance was scheduled for Monday to finalize conditions of his bond and house arrest.

If he was out on bail awaiting trial and broke his release agreements he should be jailed. Prime example we don't need new laws just in force the ones we have.

One of the insurrectionists made it onto the U.S. Capitol grounds with a firearm, according to a new court filing.

The U.S. Department of Justice filed a superseding indictment alleging that Christopher Alberts was carrying a Taurus G2C semi-automatic handgun as he left the Capitol following the Jan. 6 riot, contradicting claims by Republican lawmakers seeking to downplay the threat posed by Donald Trump's supporters.

Other weapons confiscated from insurrectionists and found at the scene included bear spray and other chemical irritants, fire extinguishers, knives, clubs, poles, hockey sticks and baseball bats.

A Capitol police officer was among five people who died as a result of the attack, which also injured dozens of officers.

Michigan domestic terrorist with farmhouse full of swords wanted to create 'white ethnostate'

On Tuesday, Deadline Detroit reported on new details of an arrested 25-year-old man from Bad Axe, Michigan, who served as the leader of the infamous neo-Nazi group The Base.

"Bridge Michigan reports on the case of Justen Watkins, a 25-year-old from Bad Axe described as the national leader of a neo-Nazi group that envisions 'white ethno states' in the Upper Peninsula and other rural area," said the report. "The agent said Watkins ran training drills and 'then used propaganda from [those] hate camps to recruit' more members, according to Jonathan Oosting of Bridge." The two of them allegedly targeted Daniel Harper, who co-hosts the anti-white nationalism podcast "I Don't Speak German."

A previous report by the Huron Daily Tribune revealed that his farmhouse in Bad Axe contained a variety of tactical and surveillance equipment, as well as multiple blades: "The only weapons listed were a machete, a 'Sword with Nazi Symbol' and a modified knife." He was arrested multiple times, including in April for breaking into a building at the group's former training camp.

Cells of The Base have popped up around the country, with authorities busting multiple terrorists at a training area in Georgia. Last year, raids, in Georgia and Delaware caught another member, Patrik Mathews, a former Canadian reservist who had reportedly been marked for assassination by his fellow white supremacists for incompetence.

Here are 4 insights on the U.S. Capitol siege from scientists who study insurgencies

    The Conversation
    May 18, 2021

    Capitol Insurrectionists (Shutterstock)

In the coming weeks, trials will begin for more than 400 people accused of attacking the United States Capitol.

Was the siege chaotic, impromptu and disorganized, or was it the work of a well-planned force of far-right militias, as mounting evidence suggests? Can an attack be both chaotic and planned?

We study insurgencies, and not only is it possible, but it's very common. Drawing on our research, here are four insights into the events of Jan. 6 and the future of far-right violence in the U.S.

    1. Co-ordination only requires a date
After the presidential election, thousands of “Stop the Steal" groups formed online. They organized hundreds of small-scale protests and militia actions in Michigan, Oregon, Texas and Arizona. They then reached the crucial moment in any movement — how do you unite hundreds of uncoordinated people into one cohesive action?

An innovative solution emerged in the Arab Spring of 2011 — find someone respected by potential protesters and insurgents to fix a date for action: Tunisia (Jan. 14), Egypt (Jan. 25), Libya (Feb. 17) and Syria (April 29).

Defeated president Donald Trump played this role after he lost the election, calling for a protest on Jan. 6 in Washington. Establishing that date allowed protesters and potential insurrectionists to coordinate without direct communication. Calling for a protest allowed those with violent intentions to plan in plain sight and avoid drawing the attention of authorities.

    2. Insurgents hide their first attacks amid chaos
Insurgents' first attacks are especially risky. Armed action immediately draws the state's attention, and most groups are too fragile to survive. A more common insurgent strategy is to launch attacks alongside mass protests. It allows the attackers to wait in the open until they see an opportunity.

The protests also give insurgents an advantage: state forces are distracted and overwhelmed by unarmed protesters. The chaos of large protests also tricks observers into concluding the attack was not pre-planned, reducing the impulse to find those responsible.

On Jan. 6, there is substantial evidence that far-right and white supremacist groups incited protesters at critical moments to breach police lines.

The Oath Keepers deployed “30 to 40 members" to Washington and coordinated closely while in the crowd through Zello, a walk-talkie style phone app. A similar group, the Proud Boys, did not even attend the rally, choosing to wait at the Capitol for the protesters to arrive before taking any action.

    3. Legitimacy is all that matters
Insurgencies' chances of survival increase with popular support. Societies usually reject political violence as too extreme, ostracizing those responsible and reporting them to authorities. However, if enough people and prominent political leaders back a group's cause, they become harder to defeat.

There are two main reasons for this. First, individuals and communities provide financial and political support, the lifeblood of any uprising. And second, popular support and legitimacy makes recruiting easy.

Twenty years of counter-insurgency efforts in Afghanistan demonstrated that military superiority cannot overcome an insurgency when it's seen as legitimate by local communities. In the U.S., the majority of Republicans continue to believe that the election was stolen, a lie that was the primary motive for the Capitol attack.

Trump's firm grip on the Republican party and the potential for him to escalate his rhetoric in advance of the mid-term congressional elections in 2022 and the 2024 presidential election means he could fuel more organized forms of violence.

    4. Insurgents adapt quickly
The Iraqi insurgency against U.S. troops from 2003-2011 provides the most worrying lesson of all. After the total defeat of the Iraqi military in only a matter of days, hundreds of tiny insurgent groups, including private militias, quickly learned how to avoid American surveillance and use roadside bombs to devastating effect against the U.S. military.

Most of the Jan. 6 attackers were inept, leaving a trail of incriminating evidence. Insurgents rarely make the same mistakes twice, in part because ineffective insurgents are arrested or killed. Mass arrests might be a comfort for those horrified by the events on Jan. 6, but it also creates a “natural selection" effect.

The more careful and adaptive groups survive and teach others their tactics, ensuring those that remain are more effective because they're harder to detect and more cautious. This same logic applies to de-platforming movement members online: the next iteration of alt-right social media accounts will be more adept at evading bans.

    Cautionary lessons
So what does this mean for the U.S. in the months and years ahead?

Most insurgencies are defeated quickly. Those that survive have consistent funding and support from prominent leaders and sympathetic communities.

This serves as a cautionary lesson: the militia groups behind the Capitol attack seemed to have raised substantial funds. These groups continue to receive political support from Republican party members and online communities, despite attempts to remove them from various social media platforms.

Crucially, research shows that cracking down on political movements often pushes its members into the arms of violent extremists. Evidence suggests the conditions are ripe for far-right extremist networks to persist, posing a serious threat over the next decade.

There are lessons to be learned in how political violence has been organized in other areas of the world that can help us anticipate the future of right-wing extremism.

Chatty Capitol rioter gets busted after bragging about his crimes to his dentist

    Ray Hartmann

    Daniel Warmus. (DOJ photos)

Daniel Warmus was arrested today by the FBI with the help of an anonymous tip from someone who overheard him at a dentist office sharing stories and a video from his day in the U.S. Capitol on January 6.

Warmus, from Alden NY, was heard by the tipster telling of how he smoked a marijuana cigarette inside the Capitol, the FBI criminal complaint states. The tipster said "that he/she overheard Warmus talking about his experience" which included having refused a police officer's instructions to leave the building."

The tipster said they could hear but not see a video Warmus was playing at the dentist's office. Warmus was heard saying he went inside the Capitol building, according to the FBI. Agents added that the tipster wanted to remain anonymous and wouldn't respond to questions but did provide the agents with Warmus' home and work addresses.

From that, agents began surveillance of Warmus at his home and at the business he runs -- Worm-A-Fix Automotive Inc. -- in Orchard Park, NY. From that agents say they were able to match photos of Warmus' and his passport and driver's license pictures with videos and footage taken inside the Capitol.

"Warmus wore a dark-colored sweatshirt with the phrase, "CNN is fake news" and what appears to be a small pin affixed to the sweatshirt with unidentified writing, a dark-colored hat bearing "Trump 2020" on the front, green-colored cargo pants with brown or orange and dark-colored shoes and carrying a backpack.

Warmus had dark-colored facial hair and was holding a tree branch with a large, dark-colored flag affixed bearing the phrase, "F*CK ANTIFA" in white letters."

Other video footage showed Warmus walking around the Capitol Building -- at one point picking up an unknown object from the ground and placing it on a statue -- and having "pulled away and retreated" from an officer who had grabbed his backpack, the report said.

Warmus was arrested in Buffalo, NY and charged with violent and unlawful entry, disrupting government business and disorderly conduct at the Capitol.

'Coolest thing I've ever done in my life': Rioter who bragged about pushing female cop down Capitol stairs arrested in Florida

    Ray Hartmann
    May 18, 2021

    Daniel Paul Gray of Florida

Daniel Paul Gray of Florida was charged today with multiple crimes of violence against police officers at the January 6 Capitol riot. Supporting photographic evidence is a video made by Gray that spells out the goal of "pushing police out the back of the Capitol."

Gray is accused of having altercations with multiple police, one in which he caused a female police officer to fall down the western rotunda stairs "and became visibly injured."

Gray bragged about it all in a self-shot monologue, the FBI said. Gray's pride in having carried out the attack on law enforcement -- and the boast that "this is far from over -- was captured on his video.

Now the video itself has been captured by the FBI. Here are some of the highlights of Gray's monologue, according to its charging document:

    • "A female cop stole my phone and I got mac'd…and I'm like, you know what, we're doing this and so we literally pushed them from the front steps of the Capitol all the way back.
    • Gray describes standing in front of a group of officers and saying "Hey stand down, there's too many of us. Go home, go find your wives, go find your kids, you don't want to do this."
    • Gray states he later stormed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office and came into contact with the female police officer from his earlier encounter. He claims the officer started crying, took off her vest and started running down the stairs.
    • "We started pushing the police out the back of the Capitol. We pushed them from the front to the back of the Capitol."
    • "This is far from over, that was the coolest thing I've ever done in my life, so stay tuned."

The FBI complaint details how Gray was among the first to push through lines and confront police. It describes him as backing at one point, beckoning some unknown individuals to come forward toward him, apparently resulting in a larger and more agitated group of rioters taking in part in the attack.

Gray, whose last known place of employment was X3 Fitness, according to the FBI, had used Facebook and Instagram to post about "his dissatisfaction with the election and…improprieties surrounding the election.

Among his Facebook prose on December 12, Gray had stated "F*ck this election this is the biggest scandal of my lifetime" and "militia finna be lit y'all!!" and "Sh*ts about to get lit y'all. I'm actually really excited at the possibility of the insurrection act being implemented."

In a private Facebook message that day, Gray proclaimed, "Bro, I just joined the militia."

Gray faces a longer list of charges than most of the 450 Capitol riot suspects. In addition to the standard charges of unlawful and violent entry, disorderly conduct and disrupting government proceedings, Gray is also charged on multiple counts of physical violence, including attacks on a person "while engaged in the performance of official duties."
