I've read all the Jack Reacher books by Lee Child.
They are mindless, cartoonish escapism.
You can pick one up and read it without having read any of the previous ones in the series because after 20+ books, there has been zero character development.
You know nothing about him in book 20 that you didn't know in book 2.
I'm pretty sure he just has a template and simply changes the names of the characters and the town it takes place in.
It's like a violence filled MadLibs book.
He has turned the series over to his kid and someone told me they're a little better but I'll wait for them to show up in the remainder shelves.
