Ariz. state Sen. Pres. Fann demands answers on ballot irregularities amid audit

    OAN Newsroom
    UPDATED 7:49 AM PT – Thursday, May 13, 2021

There’s a developing story out of Maricopa County, Arizona where “serious issues” have been discovered during the ballot audit. In a letter sent Wednesday, state Senate President Karen Fann asked the Board of Supervisors to explain several irregularities uncovered during the early stages of the audit.

Fann wrote the first issue is with regards to “Maricopa County’s apparent intent to renege on its previous commitment to comply fully with the legislative subpoenas.” She went on to say the chain of custody of the ballots has been insufficiently recorded, resulting in “apparent omissions, inconsistencies and anomalies.”

Most notably, however, was the recent discovery of several deleted databases from the Election Management System

Its so fun to watch treasonous conservative/Republicans cannibalize each other with a collection of mentally ill traitors. We progressive/liberal/Democrats can't beat that. And it keeps the Republican focus on insanity. right wing extremism, lies, and chaos while President Biden and the Democrats have free rein to push through their agenda of helping the American people and rebuilding the country.

South Carolina GOP panicked pro-Trump lawyer Lin Wood's loss will trigger a statehouse insurrection

Far-right, pro-QAnon attorney Lin Wood, who struck out trying to prove voter fraud in the 2020 election and is now facing an ethics investigation and a criminal probe for alleged illegal voting of his own, has embraced a new project: running for chair of the the South Carolina Republican Party.

According to POLITICO, this bid is also likely to go down in flames today, as incumbent party chair, Drew McKissick will likely rout him among party delegates. But GOP strategists are privately scared that his loss will not put an end to the base's embrace of his conspiracy theories.

"Like Trump, Wood is already accusing McKissick of election fraud — without any evidence — even before the first ballots are cast Saturday," reported Marc Caputo. Meanwhile, "Wood has gone so far as to make dark insinuations that McKissick isn't doing enough to stop 'the real pandemic' of pedophilia, and suggested he needs to resign over unspecified 'nefarious activities' with GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham. Wood has also called the coronavirus pandemic a 'plandemic,' suggesting it was part of an organized plot."

According to the report, Wood has even tried to cast doubt on the authenticity of Trump's endorsement of McKissick for re-election.

"What's going to happen Saturday is that McKissick is going to win, and Lin Wood is going to say it was fraud and scream and holler conspiracy theories," Joel Sawyer, a former South Carolina GOP executive director, told POLITICO. "The problem in South Carolina is many of the people at the county level, the delegate level, have been echoing the former president's fact-free claims of election fraud, but those very people are now going to have to turn around and defend the legitimacy of this election. But they don't have a lot of moral authority to dispute fact-free claims of election fraud."

Republican strategist Wes Donohue agreed. "Wood's candidacy is an immediate nothing-burger, but in the long term, everyone better pay attention," he said. "The base is pissed and questioning anyone and everyone who has been around for more than a couple years."

'Horrified' Arizona Republicans fear Trump ballot audit has done lasting damage to the party: report

According to a report from Politico, the continuing audit of 2020 presidential votes from Arizon
a's Maricopa County has Republicans attacking each other over the search for Donald Trump votes and has led some to believe the state party has been damaged by the highly criticized fishing expedition.

Politico's James Arkin is reporting that opposition to the audit by some of the state's GOP leadership is growing and they are becoming more vocal about concerns the audit may hurt them in the 2022 midterms.

Writing, "Republicans in the state are still divided over the results of the last election, months after President Joe Biden was sworn into office," Arkin adds, "Republicans are speaking out to warn that the amateurish conduct of the audit and the conspiracy theories it has amplified could cause lasting damage to the party. Next year they must defend an open governor's seat and try to flip back one of the two Senate seats Democrats took in the last two elections."

According to Bill Gates, a Republican Maricopa County supervisor, the time to pull the plug on the operation being conducted by outside firm Cyber Ninjas was yesterday.

"First of all, you do need to get to a point where you say, 'Okay, we're done. We have sufficiently addressed concerns that might be out there in the community.' And I feel like we had gotten to that point," Gates explained before adding many Republicans in the state are deeply distressed at how the party looks to the rest of the country.

"I believe that this is only appealing to a certain segment of the Republican Party," he stated. "I think there are many Republicans who are horrified by what's going on. I think there are very few independents who aren't horrified by what's going on. But it's not too late."

Tammy Patrick, a former Maricopa County elections official, added, "This is not an audit. It's not even a recount. If we continue to indulge this kind of activity, we will not be living in a true, healthy democracy."

Politico's Arkin adds, "The worries go beyond the political ramifications. Election administrators and security experts are also gravely concerned it will further erode trust in the election and open the door to more unwarranted challenges to future elections, in the state and elsewhere."

"There's a great opportunity, but the last thing that the party should be doing right now is relitigating the 2020 election and basically saying that if you don't believe in the Big Lie, then you're not welcome in this party," Republican Gates added.

Dominion, Maricopa County Rebuff Arizona Senate’s Attempt to Get Election Machine Passwords

Auditors found an entire database from a machine deleted, raising concerns

Dominion Voting Systems and Maricopa County officials are refusing to hand over passwords for election machines to auditors in Arizona.

Dominion said in a statement to news outlets on May 13 that it would comply with the audit, but Cyber Ninjas, the firm hired by the Arizona Senate to conduct it along with three other companies, is not accredited by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission.

“Releasing Dominion’s intellectual property to an unaccredited, biased, and plainly unreliable actor such as Cyber Ninjas would be reckless, causing irreparable damage to the commercial interests of the company and the election security interests of the country,” Dominion said. “No company should be compelled to participate in such an irresponsible act.”

Cyber Ninjas did not respond to a request for comment.

Maricopa County officials previously said that they did not have passwords to access administrative functions on Dominion Voting Systems machines that were used to scan ballots during the election, according to the Senate’s audit liaison, former Republican Secretary of State Ken Bennett.

“They’ve told us that they don’t have that second password, or that they’ve given us all the passwords they have,” Bennett told One America News at the site of the audit in Phoenix last week.

The county is also withholding routers from auditors, claiming security concerns.

Both routers or router images and access to election machines were part of the materials the state Senate subpoenaed late last year. A judge in February ruled that the subpoenas were valid and should be obeyed.

Arizona Senate President Karen Fann, a Republican, recently threatened to subpoena county officials if they didn’t stop their noncompliance with the subpoenas, but backed off the threat in a letter on May 12.

Instead, she asked Maricopa County Board of Supervisors Chairman Jack Sellers, also a Republican, to cooperate voluntarily by attending an upcoming meeting at the state Capitol to go over the audit issues.

Fann said auditors have found discrepancies in the ballot count, including one batch that was supposed to be 200 but only numbered 165. She also said the audit teams found an entire database directory from an election machine had been deleted, and that the main database for the election management system software was not located anywhere on the machine, suggesting that the main database for all data related to the 2020 election had been removed.

Sellers on Thursday indicated he would not attend the meeting and disputed the allegations.

Deleting files off the server “would be a crime—and it is not true,” he said.

“After reviewing the letter with County election and IT experts, I can say that the allegations are false and ill-informed. Moreover, the claim that our employees deleted election files and destroyed evidence is outrageous, completely baseless, and beneath the dignity of the Arizona Senate,” he added, calling for an immediate retraction of statements senators and their liaison team made on social media and to the press.

The Board of Supervisors, which held a closed-door emergency meeting on Friday, plans on holding a public meeting on Monday to address the matter.

Fann, an Arizona Senate Republican Caucus spokeswoman, and the liaison team did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The Arizona Republican in charge of an audit recount of the ballots in the 2020 election has lashed out Donald Trump on Twitter, calling the former president “unhinged.” Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer responded to accusations by Trump that his county had deleted the election database. “Wow. This is unhinged. I’m literally looking at our voter registration database on my other screen. Right now,” Richer tweeted Saturday. “We can’t indulge these insane lies any longer. As a party. As a state. As a country. This is as readily falsifiable as 2+2=5. If we don’t call this out.” Republican Senate President Karen Fann, who is leading the audit efforts, has demanded Richer hand over passwords to voting machines and ballot databases, and that the entire Maricopa County Board of Supervisors attend a Senate inquiry into alleged discrepancies on Tuesday.

Current events are you have one side of the political spectrum has been taken over by fruitcakes, criminals and the generally certifiable but I am sure the cyber ninjas will sort out the mess?

It is difficult to perform an independent recount when it is paid for by the losing side?

If Richer is looking at it...then he shouldn't mind other folks to look at it as well...not the voter registration database, rather the entire database from the Dominion voting machines that had an open tunnel to China.... that is not going to be subpoenaed.

The most insidious thing about Trump's Big Lie is the liars telling know its a lie. They are not that fucking stupid and ignorant. They are responding to Trump's and some of his sycophants delusions. But they are not really mentally ill enough themselves to actually believe the delusions. They push the Big Lie because its part of their treasonous plan to subvert democracy itself. They don't want a democratic republic. They want a dictatorship.

Lin Wood licks wounds after losing race in SC: 'Trump is a genius' for endorsing my opponent

Election attorney Lin Wood on Sunday called former President Donald Trump a "genius" for endorsing his opponent for South Carolina Republican Party chair.

Wood, who fought to overturn Trump's loss in the 2020 election, experienced his own loss over the weekend when South Carolina Republicans overwhelmingly voted for Drew McKissick to lead the state party.

Wood appeared to be licking his wounds in a social media post on Sunday that attempted to spin Trump's decision to endorse McKissick.

"President Trump is a genius," Wood wrote. "He plays chess at a level we will never fully understand."

"I was honored by his description of me as a 'strong and talented' opponent," he added. "Upon further reflection, I understand his endorsement of my opponent, Drew McKissick."

Wood went on to say that his faith in Trump never wavered because he "is doing God's will for our country."

No tourist...we dont swim in the same water...your water is soft, elegant, fruity flavored and sport the colors of the rainbow...all in the name of making you feel good about yourself.

My water on the other hand is a little choppy, deadly sea creatures lurking about in the depths, smells of fish...however I throw caution to the wind and beat back the adversity when I swim in that water.

Arizona congressman compares Republican Trump devotees to Hugo Chavez’s Chavistas: 'It’s not a party of ideas'

During a recent appearance on Univision's Spanish-language news program "Al Punto," Democratic Rep. Rubén Gallego of Arizona compared diehard devotees of former President Donald Trump to supporters of the late leftist Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez — and it was obviously meant to be a major insult.

The 41-year-old Gallego, who represents Arizona's 7th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives, discussed the GOP-sponsored vote audit of the 2020 presidential election in Maricopa County, Arizona — stressing to long-time "Al Punto" host Jorge Ramos (who has often been described as the Brian Williams of Spanish-language television) that the audit was nothing more than a partisan farce from the Arizona Republican Party. The interview was conducted entirely in Spanish, which Gallego — a native of Chicago — speaks fluently.

The Latino congressman pointed out that in Arizona, more than one recount of the 2020 presidential election results had already been conducted. And those recounts, Gallego told Ramos, made it abundantly clear that now-President Joe Biden defeated Trump in Arizona. Slamming the Maricopa County audit — conducted by the Florida-based firm Cyber Ninjas — as a joke, Gallego saw it as a sad reflection of a party that has been taken over by Trump and his sycophants and continues to promote "La Gran Mentira" (meaning "The Big Lie" in Spanish).

"They are not a party of ideas," Gallego told the 63-year-old Ramos, a native of Mexico City now based in Miami. And Gallego was especially insulting to the GOP when he told Ramos that Trump's Republican sycophants are "like Chavistas" — meaning Venezuelan devotees of Hugo Chávez, who died of cancer in Caracas in 2013.

Gallego has served in both the United States' federal government and the Arizona state government. The Chicago native was first elected to the Arizona House of Representatives in 2010, and in 2012 — the year in which President Barack Obama was reelected — he was elected to the U.S. House.

I think treasonous conservative/Republicans are fucking up here. It is not a good idea to send just laughable lies to the DOJ. All that is going to do is cause the DOJ to take a closer look at the treasonous liars.

Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene team up to push ‘unhinged’ Trump-promoted conspiracy theory to DOJ

Four right wing GOP lawmakers on Monday teamed up to send a letter advancing a far right conspiracy theory promoted by Donald Trump over the weekend.

U.S. Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Andy Biggs (R-AZ), and Paul Gosar (R-AZ) has signed the joint letter drafted by the embattled Florida Congressman to the top DOJ official in charge of civil rights, telling her to stay out of the Maricopa Country, Arizona recount. That recount, being conducted by a company that has no experience in election recounts and that has been soliciting funds for the effort despite that the taxpayers fund it, has now been going on for well over three weeks, with no end in sight.

The four extremist lawmakers include a man accused and under DOJ investigation for possible sex-trafficking and possible sex with a minor; a QAnon supporter accused of illegal tax fraud; and a white nationalist. All have voted to overturn the 2020 election.

Their letter is addressed to Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Pamela Karlan of the Civil Rights Division of the United States Department of Justice.

In the letter they claim: "It has also been widely reported that before the equipment was delivered to independent auditors, an entire 'Database' directory of election information was deleted from the Election Management System Primary machine. According to Senator Fann, 'this suggests that the main database for all election related data for the November 2020 General Election has been removed.'"

On Saturday in a blog post Donald Trump wrote, "The entire database of Maricopa County in Arizona, has been DELETED!"

The claim is absolutely false, according to the Republican county recorder in Maricopa County, Stephen Richer, who calls Trump's conspiracy theory "unhinged" and "insane":

    @stephen_richer

Wow. This is unhinged. I’m literally looking at our voter registration database on my other screen. Right now. We can’t indulge these insane lies any longer. As a party. As a state. As a country. This is as readily falsifiable as 2+2=5. If we don’t call this out...

The four Republican end the letter by demanding a response by Thursday.
