Texas Audit Finds Over 11,000 Potential Noncitizens Registered to Vote, Other Problems
First phase of audit praised by secretary of state but criticized by some lawmakers who argue it isn't enough

Voting irregularities—including potentially thousands of votes cast by noncitizens and dead people—were reported during the first phase of the Texas secretary of state’s forensic audit of the 2020 general election, but critics deemed it more of a risk-limiting audit at this point.

The secretary of state’s office released its findings on Dec. 31; the issues found aren’t enough to significantly affect 2020 election results of the four counties involved in the audit—Collin, Dallas, Harris, and Tarrant counties—which account for about 10 million people, or a third of Texas’s population.

“Generally speaking, nothing was found on such a large scale that could have altered any election,” Sam Taylor, assistant secretary of state for communications, told The Epoch Times.

 

WASHINGTON (TND) — Amid claims of ballot harvesting, Georgia has opened an investigation into the state's 2020 general election and subsequent U.S. Senate runoff.

Under Georgia law, it is illegal for any third party to pick up and drop off ballots for voters, also known as ballot harvesting. According to reports, at least 242 people made over 5,000 ballot drop-offs during the Georgia Senate runoff elections.

“Credible evidence was given to us that people were harvesting ballots,” said Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to The National Desk’s Jan Jeffcoat. “This information was provided to us and they said there's a witness, a 'John Doe.' And so we're looking at subpoenaing that person to get the information.”

According to JustTheNews, Raffensperger’s office received a detailed complaint from conservative watchdog group True the Vote, including an account of a Georgia man who said he received $10 per ballot delivered.

After the election in 2020, Trump argued on a phone call that ballot harvesting and other election fraud had occurred, and pressured Raffensperger to conduct audits to prove his allegations.

“He wanted us to look at things and we look at every single allegation that was made,” said Raffensperger.

But as to whether the investigation into ballot harvesting raises concerns regarding the outcome of the 2020 election, Raffensperger says “we’ll see where it takes us.”

“Ballot harvesting, those are still lawful ballots, they’ve just been handled fraudulently. Many states actually allow ballot harvesting,” said Raffensperger. “We outlawed it because we think that the only person that should touch the ballot is the voter and the election worker and there shouldn't be any people and intermediaries in between.”

The Fulton County Board of Elections recertified recount results for the presidential election earlier this month, amidst reports of widespread mismanagement and irregularities. A report from Carter Jones, an independent monitor who observed election operations in the county, delivered a 350-page report of “mismanagement,” according to Raffensperger.

On Thursday, Cyber Ninjas, the Florida-based cybersecurity firm that conducted the controversial partisan "audit" of votes in Maricopa County, Arizona, announced that it was laying off all of its employees, including CEO Doug Logan, and shutting down.

This comes shortly after a report from the Associated Press that the company was held in contempt by an Arizona judge for blocking access to records over its practices during the audit, and faces a fine of $50,000 per day for every day that it fails to turn over the documents.

Cyber Ninjas was hired by the Arizona State Senate to conduct the audit, partially at taxpayer expense, in the hopes of confirming former President Donald Trump's conspiracy theories about the election being stolen. The audit faced criticism from the start for its lack of transparency to the press and for pursuing fanciful lines of investigation, like searching for bamboo fibers in ballots to prove they were fabricated in Asia. Even some pro-Trump commentators blasted the effort as an embarrassment.

Ultimately, the investigation failed to find any evidence the election had been stolen, and actually found more votes for President Joe Biden that had not been counted.

The company hired by Arizona Senate Republicans to review Donald Trump’s 2020 defeat in the state has fired all of its staff and is shutting down after its findings were torn to shreds by Maricopa County officials. “Cyber Ninjas is shutting down. All employees have been let go,” Rod Thomson, the company's representative, told NBC News Thursday night. The dramatic announcement came a day after elections officials in Maricopa County determined that 76 of the 77 claims made in the Cyber Ninjas report into the county’s 2020 election were false or misleading. The debunked report had been used by Donald Trump and his loss-denying allies as evidence that the 2020 election was stolen from him. On Thursday, a judge said he will fine the company $50,000 a day if it doesn’t immediately turn over public records related to the deeply partisan audit.
