Over the past week, more and more fake state documents falsely declaring that Donald Trump won the 2020 election have come to light—but it seems the Republicans who signed them aren’t in any rush to explain. On Tuesday, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow shared five fake certificates of ascertainment that were sent to the National Archives in an ill-conceived plot to make it seem as if Trump had won states he lost in 2020. One of the Republican lawmakers who signed the fake Arizona document, state Rep. Jake Hoffman, was asked why he thought it was appropriate to sign the forgery, and who organized the effort. A clip of the encounter filmed by 12News shows Arizona Republic reporter Richard Ruelas grilling Hoffman on who presented him with the forged document to sign. Hoffman repeatedly refuses to answer, saying “you would need to ask the party chairman,” before he runs away from the conversation.

We disagree that it was an attempted coup. And no, while Trump has plenty of faults, I don't think that he has anything to do with where we are now as a country.

Biden's been in office for a year now, he OWNS all of the ongoing chaos: the flow of illegals crossing the border was in the process of being shut down when he took over, the economy was coming up, inflation last January was 1.4%, far less people died of COVID under Trump than have in Biden's first year even though he campaigned by promising to immediately destroy the virus. Biden still can't even supply sufficient COVID self-tests yet wants to provide N95 masks to every citizen, and there was no transportation/supply crisis. Internationally, Biden offended NATO with a withdrawal from Afghanistan that was so precipitous and poorly planned that it literally armed a generation of real terrorists and months later we STILL have Americans trapped there. Plus, he is so weak on China and Russia that we will eventually pay in blood for that.....

I could go on but why bother? Bipartisan discussion is gone. Democrats tell me, and those like me, that we're racists and Domestic Terrorists, that we should be allowed to die of COVID or somehow need to be punished because of our views on vaccine.

Yet you still want to concentrate on Trump.

Biden may be senile, but if he and the Democrats burn our country down it will be on purpose.

 

There is no doubt it was a massive attempted coup that involved Trump, the White House, Trump campaign, DOJ employees, treasonous conservative/Republican members of congress as well as members of Republican controlled state legislatures. And they actually had a successful coup in place that would have worked and overturned the results of a free and fair election if only Mike Pence had gone along with it. All they had to do was get Pence to try and send the electors back to the states. Trump was going to confiscate all voting equipment and results. That would have created so much chaos the election would have been thrown back to the House of Representatives to decide. And where the fix was in was if the House decided the election each state only got one vote. And there are 27 Republican controlled states.

They also had a back up plan of Trump declaring a national emergency and invoking the insurrection act but the US military said they would not go along with it.

So the last desperate act was for Trump to call in his domestic terrorists and get them to stage a violent insurrection and attempted coup by storming the Capitol,

Grand jury investigating allegations of elections tampering by pro-MAGA Colorado clerk: report

On Thursday, ABC7 Denver reported that a grand jury in Mesa County is investigating allegations of official misconduct and election equipment tampering against Tina Peters, a pro-Trump Colorado county clerk.

"The 21st Judicial District Attorney's Office made the announcement early Thursday morning," reported Stephanie Butzer and Blair Miller. "The county made national headlines in 2021 after security information from the county’s voting machines was leaked to a right wing website. According to the investigation as of late December, investigators say Mesa’s Clerk and Recorder, Republican Tina Peters, let an unauthorized person access the voting machines. That person was also present for a secure software system update."

Peters, who has a history of mismanaging elections, has ties to MyPillow CEO and pro-Trump election conspiracy theorist Mike Lindell, and has appeared in footage with the Three Percenters, a far-right paramilitary group. She has promoted the idea that the 2020 election was stolen from former President Donald Trump and has claimed she is willing to go to prison for her activism.

Investigations against Peters appear to be moving on multiple fronts, with the FBI conducting a raid of her home in November.

Wisconsin Republican buries Trump's new voter fraud claims: 'He doesn't understand and hasn't bothered to learn'

On Thursday's edition of CNN's "OutFront," Wisconsin state Sen. Kathleen Bernier, a conservative Republican, sharply criticized the partisan "audit" of the election results being undertaken by former state Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman.

"I mean, it does seem so shocking, of course, you know, we should note the margin of victory in Wisconsin 2020 was identical to the margin in 2016," said anchor Erin Burnett. "Trump won the first time and lost the second. So Republicans in your state are still conducting an investigation of the election and I — we have had some fantastic reports on this, led by Michael Gableman. More than a year since the election. Why are they doing this now, do you think?"

"Well, there were some unusual things that occurred with individuals in Green Bay and the third-party funding and some issues we had in nursing homes, so the fact of the matter is there were some issues that we had," said Bernier. "But by the same token, after the legislative audit bureau finished, after the Wisconsin Institute of Law and Liberty finished, I'm confident that the election results are factual and that any other anomalies or voter fraud cases that we had, which I know there are a little over 500 or so that are being investigated, that's not unusual and we need to move forward because Republicans need to focus on 2022."

She also took issue with Trump's claim that the Wisconsin audit is uncovering massive fraud.

"I would love to sit down with President Trump and explain the electoral process to him," she said. "I don't think he really understands. It all boils down to each and every board from each and every community. And those are volunteers from the community that are running the polling places... So I think he does not understand and hasn't bothered to learn."



Bernier has repeatedly criticized Gableman's conduct, calling his work a "charade" and even suggesting she would need to bring concealed weapons to defend herself if she attended one of his speeches. Gableman has fired back, calling on her to resign.

Michigan AG believes Republicans who forged election documents will flip

On The Rachel Maddow Show Thursday, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel weighed in on the bombshell news that Republicans in several states that President Biden won forged election documents in an attempt to give the election to former President Trump. Individuals in Michigan, Wisconsin, Nevada, Arizona and Georgia posed as electors, and gave the victory in each state to Trump. Everyone involved could face multiple charges and significant jail time, which Nessel believes could persuade some of them to talk, and could expose orchestration from the highest levels of government.

“Once those individuals see that they could possibly be facing prison time, I do think we’re gonna see some people flip,” Nessel said, “and we’ll get some further information as to who orchestrated this in the first place, who told these people to do this in exactly this fashion, and I think it may go all the way to the top.”

In every instance, the fraudulent documents followed almost the exact same template, leading Nessel to believe the individuals who signed those documents were just part of a bigger plan, which is why she referred the case to federal authorities.

“What we have decided to do with the investigation, in light of the fact that of course we have seen, as you (Maddow) have pointed out multiple times now,” Nessel said, “various different false slate of electors from [several] different states, in what seems to be a coordinated effort between the Republican Parties in various different states, we think this is a matter that is best investigated and potentially prosecuted by the feds.”

DANA NESSEL: Our hope is that the federal authorities or the Department of Justice and the United States Attorney General Merrick Garland will take this in coordination with all the other information they've received and make an evaluation as to what charges these individuals might face. I mean, I can think of many.

Wisconsin clerks rush to rewrite voting instructions after judge rules absentee ballot drop boxes are illegal

MADISON — Election clerks around Wisconsin scrambled to rewrite their instructions to voters Friday after a judge ruled absentee ballot drop boxes aren’t allowed under state law.

Thursday's ruling by Waukesha County Circuit Court Judge Michael Bohren is likely to be appealed in the next week or so. For now, clerks are assuming the decision will remain in place and changing what they’re telling voters ahead of next month’s spring primary for local offices.

Sara Bruckman, the village clerk in Fox Point and the president of the Wisconsin Municipal Clerks Association, said she was writing new information to include with absentee ballots so voters know they will be allowed to return them only by mail or in person. Those ballots are to go out on Jan. 25.

Milwaukee installed 15 secure drop boxes at libraries and other locations in September 2020 using $70,000 from a grant from the non-profit Center for Tech and Civic Life. The drop boxes are under 24-hour video surveillance.

About half the absentee ballots mailed to voters were returned via drop boxes for the 2020 presidential election, said Claire Woodall-Vogg, the director of the Milwaukee Election Commission.

Election officials will need to rewrite instructions to voters for about 20,000 absentee ballots that will soon be mailed for the spring primary, she said. On Friday, a large-font notice on the city's website noted the court ruling barred the use of the drop boxes for now.

The Escalating Nationwide Battle Over Private Millions to Bankroll Public Elections

Democrats across the country are pushing to continue allowing private money to fund public elections as Republicans try to limit the practice, which they say gave Joe Biden an unfair and perhaps decisive advantage in his victory over Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential contest.

So far at least 10 Republican-controlled states have passed laws to prohibit or limit the use of private money in public elections. These include the swing states of Arizona, Florida, Georgia, and Ohio. In another swing state, North Carolina, Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper vetoed such legislation, as did other Democratic governors.

During 2020, nonprofits donated more than $400 million to state and local election boards to support their work and get out the vote. Most of the funding, around $350 million, came from Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, distributed primarily through the Center for Tech and Civic Life, or CTCL, a Chicago-based progressive-led group that includes former operatives of President Obama.

Democrats and others contend that such money – an amount approaching the $479.5 million in federal and state matching funds provided for COVID-related election expenses in 2020 – is necessary to support the work of underfunded election boards facing the added challenges of the pandemic.
