Moderna CEO says COVID-19 pandemic could be over in a year
Nearly 55% of the U.S. population has been fully vaccinated

Moderna, Inc. CEO Stephane Bancel said that he believes the COVID-19 pandemic could be over in a year as vaccine production continues.

"If you look at the industry-wide expansion of production capacities over the past six months, enough doses should be available by the middle of next year so that everyone on this earth can be vaccinated. Boosters should also be possible to the extent required," he told the Swiss newspaper Neue Zuercher Zeitung, according to Reuters.

Bancel also said vaccinations would soon be available for infants and that he assumed there would be a return to normal "in a year."

"Those who do not get vaccinated will immunize themselves naturally, because the Delta variant is so contagious. In this way we will end up in a situation similar to that of the flu. You can either get vaccinated and have a good winter. Or you don't do it and risk getting sick and possibly even ending up in hospital," he said.

Bancel's comments come on the heels of a decision by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to authorize Pfizer-BioNTech booster shots for individuals above the age of 65 and those ages 18 to 64 who are either at "high risk of severe COVID-19" or who work in high-risk places.

The single booster is to be administered at least six months after people receive their first two doses.

Moderna, Inc. 50 µg-dose boosters remain under consideration and the U.S. already offers an extra dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccines – at least 28 days after getting the second shot – to people with severely weakened immune systems.

According to Bancel, patients at risk who were vaccinated last fall "undoubtedly" need a booster and he said he expected governments to approve the shots for people who have already been vaccinated.

"The volume of vaccine is the biggest limiting factor. With half the dose, we would have three billion doses available worldwide for the coming year instead of just two billion," he added.

The composition of Moderna's booster shot remains the same as the original, Reuters reported, with half the dose of the initial dose.

"We are currently testing Delta-optimized variants in clinical trials. They will form the basis for the booster vaccination for 2022. We are also trying out Delta plus Beta, the next mutation that scientists believe is likely," Bancel said.

The CEO said the price of vaccination would not change.

The Moderna vaccine is available under emergency use authorization for individuals 18 years and older, and the company also requested to expand authorization to adolescents ages 12-17.

Moderna has dispensed millions of doses of its vaccine thus far and global vaccine data shows that 43.9% of the world’s population has received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine.

In the U.S., 182.4 million people have been fully vaccinated, or nearly 55% of America's total population. Nearly 77% of adults have received at least one shot.

    I think that's a fringe benefit.

The core if this problem starts with Daddy Issues mistrust syndrome. They don't trust a Doctor who is trying to keep them healthy, but they do believe that a drug that kills worms should also kill a virus. This is the mentality that led Donald Trump to stand before video cameras and speculate and injecting antiseptics. He had just learned how to effectively kill viruses on the skin, so why not under the skin?

People are gargling iodine, using the same logic.

It's not a problem of "not knowing what's in the vaccine". The problem is an emotional inability to believe someone cares about them and will do something promised. The Daddy thing again.

This is why chemicals intended to kill worms in horses or fungus in fish, are accepted at viable treatment for a respiratory viral infection. They certainly have no idea what's in either concoction, but the Doctors say it won't work, so it must be good.

This is mind boggling but true. And we can even go a step above. Trump cult followers don't want the vaccine because they say they don't know what's in it and yet flock to monoclonal antibody treatments where monoclonal antibodies are mass-produced in a laboratory. It makes no sense and can only be part of the cult mentality.

Black Lives Matter Leader Calls Vaccine Mandates ‘Racist,’ Promises ‘Uprising’ Against ID System

    24 Sep 2021

A Black Lives Matter leader is threatening an “uprising” over mandatory vaccinations and vaccine passports in New York.

New York City’s vaccine mandate began on Sept. 13. It requires proof of vaccination entry to certain public spaces, including gyms, restaurants, and bars, unless a person has an approved medical exemption.

New York officials call the program the “Key to NYC Pass.”

Hawk Newsome, the co-founder and chairman of Black Lives Matter of Greater New York (BLMGNY), argues the mandates are fundamentally racist, given the low rate of vaccination in the black community.

Some 85.6 percent of black people in the state of New York remain without one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to state data.

“I think, in a perfect world, [vaccine requirements] should be business by business. But it could be a slippery slope, so the mandate should be removed completely,” Newsome told the Washington Examiner.

“It’s not gonna be white men in suits on Wall Street who are gonna get stopped. There’s such hypocrisy in this thing.”

The Examiner points out some 70 percent of black people in New York City aged 18 to 44 have not received the injection. There is a variety of reasons claimed for the lag in shots, including religious beliefs and distrust of government.

“It’s black people who have a natural distrust of the vaccine,” Newsome said. He cited the Tuskegee Syphilis Study as an example of historic distrust by black people of the U.S. medical community, despite the fact vaccines are accessible to people of all racial groups.

BLMGNY is advocating for the complete abolition of vaccine requirements, not only in the city but also on a national level.

Newsome, a Baptist, told the news outlet he is especially worried the vaccine mandates do not allow for religious exemptions.

Chivona Newsome, a fellow co-founder of BLMGNY, threatened an “uprising” in the wake of the mandates.

“We’re putting this city on notice that your mandate will not be another racist social distance practice,” she declared at a protest on Monday, according to the Examiner report “Black people are not going to stand by, or you will see another uprising. And that is not a threat. That is a promise.”

“The vaccination passport is not a free passport to racism,” she concluded.

The pushback against vaccination requirements is not limited to the general NYC area.

As Breitbart News reported, a wider spectrum of black voters is driving down President Joe Biden’s approval rating after the administration mandated vaccines for medium and large businesses on September 8.

    https://twitter.com/MorningConsult/...s-racist-promises-uprising-against-id-system/

According to a Monday Morning Consult poll earlier this month, Biden’s job performance has shrunk five points to 71 percent among black voters since the vaccine mandate. Black voter disapproval of Biden also increased seven points to 24 percent.

The poll additionally indicates support for Biden’s handing of the coronavirus crisis has dropped nine points to 61 percent since the end of August.

The poll illustrates unvaccinated black voters have notched Biden’s job performance lower since the vaccine mandate.

    Listen you simple ass, focus.

Medicare and social security work the same basic way. While working you and your employer pay into Medicare and social security. It isn't an option, its mandatory.

When you turn 65 you don't get a choice, medicare is your medical insurance. You can't buy primary insurance, only supplemental insurance. And even after 65 you still pay a premium for part of the medicare insurance.

Are you able to absorb all this, you simple nut sack?

It isn't socialism, its a government mandated insurance no one has a choice about, but the key thing, dolt, is that Shooter paid for that medical insurance every day from the very beginning of the program, in 1965. Thats right, Shooter was working when he was 14.

You don't even know what socialism is, but yet you ignorant ass, you spew.

You were saying? You can opt out of Medicare.
Also, not true. I know you can opt out of social security as well.

And you might want to check history. Social security is based on socialist philosophy. Medicare is also.

Define "socialist philosophy" for us then. Explain what your understanding is of "socialist philosophy". You know, so we can discuss it like adults.

And opting out of medicare is indeed an option. If you have a bank balance like George Soros and can afford to pay your medical bills out of your petty cash fund.

      Are you that rich?
      Shooter is not.

If one elects to "opt out" what alternative, besides paying for hospital costs themselves, are people over 65 left with?

And no, Shooter cannot "opt out" of Social Security. It is mandatory. For both he and his employer. No alternative.

Cmon, nutsack, explain what "social philosophy" is in your world, and how social security is based on it.

And while you're at it you can explain how, exactly, one "opts out" of Medicare and/or social security.

A few million Americans will be most interested in your explanation.

It isn't socialism. Socialized medicine is the provision of medical and hospital care for all by means of public funds.

Medicare is a system in which people who do not need medical care in the long run contribute to a public fund and the surplus is used to pay the medical bills of those who do need medical care. Totally different.

Shocking poll shows unvaccinated Republicans have 'warped' perception of vaccines' effectiveness

    Brad Reed
    September 27, 2021

    Photo via AFP

New polling from Gallup cited by the Washington Post's Aaron Blake reveals that unvaccinated Republican voters have a grossly distorted estimates of how effective COVID-19 vaccines are, with Blake going so far as to label them "warped."

Blake starts off by citing Gallup poll results showing the average American thinks that the vaccines are roughly 80 percent effective at preventing hospitalization.

This actually understates the real number, as the vaccines have been shown to be around 86 percent effective in preventing hospitalizations.

However, things get weird when you look at the poll results from unvaccinated Republican voters.

"The median unvaccinated Republican believes that the percentage of unvaccinated people like themselves requiring hospitalization is 5 percent," writes Blake. "How does that compare to how they believe the vaccinated fare? It's exactly the same. They believe the hospitalization rate for vaccinated people is also 5 percent. So the median unvaccinated Republican essentially says the vaccines have net-zero efficacy — i.e. there is no benefit to getting vaccinated when it comes to landing in the hospital."

Blake argues that right-wing media is largely to blame for unvaccinated Republicans being so completely misinformed about how effective the vaccines are.

"Unvaccinated Republicans are getting their information from right-wing media and social media that dwells significantly more upon — and often hyperbolizes and misconstrues — the supposed negative aspects of the vaccines," he writes.

    Read the full analysis here.

Trump is attacking vax mandates because his own base views him 'more skeptically' for endorsing vaccine: NYT reporter

    - YouTube screenshot

On Monday, New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman revealed that former President Donald Trump has taken a redoubled hardline against vaccine mandates in large part because he is spooked about his own base turning on him for his previous comments in favor of the vaccines.

Haberman's comments came in response to New York Times statistics flagged by The Intercept D.C. bureau chief Ryan Grim, revealing that "in counties where Donald Trump received at least 70 percent of the vote, the virus has killed about 47 out of every 100,000 people since the end of June," compared to just 10 out of every 100,000 people who live in counties that voted heavily for President Joe Biden.

    Maggie Haberman
    @maggieNYT

Parts of Trump’s own voting base view him more skeptically now because of his support for the vaccine, and that skepticism has furthered him talking about “freedom” from mandates.

Trump, who historically has promoted anti-vaccine conspiracy theories and whose base is among the most vaccine-resistant groups in the United States, has previously made some efforts to promote the vaccine, whose development was spurred along by federal funding appropriated during his administration.

But his efforts have met resistance; at a rally in Alabama, the former president was booed by his own supporters for suggesting people should get vaccinated.
