Was it more surreal or literal?

 

I had a dream that Katy Perry was my Mom and I was bottle fed.....

 

I do not remember any dreams from last night. Nevertheless, I have kept a journal for several years of dreams I did remember. Here are two.

I am in a Chinese restaurant, sitting by myself, and finishing my meal. As I am about to leave several of my co-workers enter. The owner of the restaurant tells them he cannot serve them because he is short of waiters and waitresses that day. I tell him that I will take their orders so that they can be served.

In the next dream I am looking at a friend of my sister and thinking about how beautiful she is. From there the dream shifts to a large, dimly lit room. Dead people are lying in beds, as though they are sleeping.

Sometimes I wake up from a dream and go back to sleep resuming the dream. Sometimes what I remember is obviously only the end of what was a much longer dream. Remembering the end has the feeling of reading several pages toward the end of a novel. I do not know who the characters are, and how they came to be doing what they are doing.

Sigmund Freud and Carl Gustav Jung attributed great meaning to dreams. I do not believe most psychologists and psychiatrists do any more. Dreams seem to be the random result of thoughts and distorted memories.

I very rarely remember my dreams. I don’t usually wake up conscious of having had them, either. Some stay with me for a moment or two, gossamer and wispy, but fade really quickly. I am not usually a participant in my own dreams, and I almost never dream about people I know. I dream about strangers.

If I do remember any dreams for more than a moment I tend to write them down in point form, just to be able to look back on them. When I do, I usually have no recollection of them at all. There’s just a blank space in that spot where the memory ought to be.

I did have a recurring nightmare as a child, and it still makes me uncomfortable to think of it, but I can recollect that one clear as day.

I know that I dream in colour, though, because often the notations include reference to them and the one I can clearly recall has colour elements.

Someone dear to me said that he loved dreaming because he got to visit with people who were gone from his life, and it was always so lovely to see them again. Like somehow they were visiting with him, and he was really grateful for the time they got to share.

I thought that was a really lovely way to experience dreams.

 

The reason I’m asking is that my dreams used to be all surreal but lately under way more pressure they’ve become extremely literal. Things like going to the grocery store and paying bills and working out schedules. Seems like dreams should be a way for the subconscious to deal with stress by turning it into a brightly pained zeppelin that likes to play video games or something weird.

 

I have the same dream every night I'm collecting water in a river bank.I only have glass jars and I have to keep filling each one individually and carrying it back to my donkey.Eventually I have enough water but I never find what for

I have PTSD so I don't have regular dreams.. Mostly violent. And they usually wake me up.

 

I've experienced lucid dreams .
Many many many times in my life.

 

I dreamt of finally exposing toxic frauds who try to bully others on here. Especially those who bully women.

I dreamed that I was to interview Hillary Clinton on the War in Vietnam. In the dream I lack a recording device, so I am to read questions to her and to write down as best as I can the meaning of her answers, although not the specific answers. The questions would be like:

In 1964 you supported Barry Goldwater for president. Presumably you were a hawk back then. How did your opinion of the war change, and how did your opinion of Goldwater change?

As you know, the Geneva Agreement of 1954 scheduled an election under international supervision to choose the leader and the government of Vietnam. It stated that the division of Vietnam into North and South was temporary. It forbade the entry of foreign troops into Vietnam. Why did not United States not sign and honor that agreement? What would have happened if the United States had honored the agreement?

President Eisenhower's "domino theory" asserted that if South Vietnam "went Communist" Communism would spread to other countries in south east Asia. Do you believe our long involvement in Vietnam prevented that?

Edmund Burke wrote, "No war leaves where it found a nation." How did the War in Vietnam change the United States?

Did the anti war movement lengthen or shorten the War?

 

I can honestly say that Hilary Clinton has never made an appearance on my dreams.

 

My dreams are extremely realistic so when I first wake up I’m always a bit confused if it really happened or not. Which is great for sex dreams, because I lie there all horned out, but terrifying for nightmares.

 

Yes vivid sex dreams are the best but I’ve also experienced night terrors which really are slices of Hell. I’d prefer to just get the sleep I need without dreams at all.

 

I love dreaming , when its good .

 

A nightmare actually. I’m being chased but I’m running so slow and I can’t see the person chasing me, but I can hear them breathing. I hardly ever have sex dreams. It’s like I think about sex so much during the day that my brains just needs a break at night lol

 

It’s a good thing.

 

This friggin place has managed to work it's way into my subconscious.
I had a dream a while back I was on an airplane partying with Subby and T1.
The drinks were flowing and we were laughing our asses off.
